    Great video and very similar to my experience. We have a 2005 MC X10 and were able to surf using the standard ballast but when the Ronix wedge came out, I bought one right away. The Velcro strips started coming off about the same time all the suction cup models started coming out. I tried three different brands and could not get one of them to stick to the hull with anything approaching predictability. And none of waves they produced came close to the wave produced by the Ronix model. So, by the end of last season, we were re-committed to the Ronix wedge. We did not have chronic problems with it popping off, instead, we found it an absolute bear to get it off when we were done surfing. Interesting to hear about the new models having extra Velcro. I did see they have an XL model now. We paid $550 for ours which seemed like a ton for the material cost but the wave it produced was totally legit and a lot cheaper than a new boat. Plus, people can sit anywhere in the boat they want and the wave is still sweet. I still see new boats rolling down the lake totally listed to one side with everyone piled on top of each other and I just smile.

      Glad to hear you had good results! It's definitely a game changer. We are rejoining the MC family with a NXT 22. Definitely looking forward to its delivery. Surf on!

      Thanks, Chris! I enjoy stretching out on the board from time to time. Hope the video helped - shapers are definitely the way to go if you don't have a newer boat already equipped.

    What lake is that? Reminds me a lot of the lake I used to go to every summer and where I learned to wakeboard (Cave Run Lake, KY).

    Does this product increase the push of the wave?

    • @RealLifeSpartan
      @RealLifeSpartan  Před 6 lety

      Hey Ryan, in my opinion, somewhat. I believe push is created ultimately from additional weight placement though. Heavier hulls tend to have more push right out of the gate. This product will provide some additional push, but its biggest highlight is cleaning the wave while also extending it. I hope this helped!

    Does this work for wakeboarding? How is modified the height of the wave when speed is higher?

    • @RealLifeSpartan
      @RealLifeSpartan  Před rokem

      Going to be tough at high speeds and you won't have an even wake. I suppose you could try throwing one on both sides but that would be an expensive project. This particular model would def pop off, you'd want one that clamps on the platform for higher speed. Your best bet would just be some balanced ballast favoring the rear of the boat or a boat that has a center wedge you can drop. Good luck!

      @RealLifeSpartan  Před 3 lety +1

      Sorry to just now be responding. Congrats on the boat, we loved ours. We took the rear factory hard tanks out and replaced them with 750's. We kept the belly ballast as is, but we would occasionally throw another 250 on the side being surfed. Hope this helps and good luck!

      @@RealLifeSpartan my man, thank you! What are the factory belly ballasts weighted as? Think all of mine is aftermarket

    • @RealLifeSpartan
      @RealLifeSpartan  Před 3 lety

      @@mass652 No problem. The factory hard tanks in our 2002 were 250 each, with the belly bag being 500 (1,000 total).

    • @RealLifeSpartan
      @RealLifeSpartan  Před 3 lety

      @@mass652 I'd definitely invest in a wake shaper if you can, it'll clean the surf wave up and give you more push. For wakeboarding we dropped the wedge and just weighted the boat pretty evenly.

    I loved my ronix... for about 2 seasons. now it falls off before we even get up to 9 mph. piece of crap. going suction style.

    • @RealLifeSpartan
      @RealLifeSpartan  Před 7 lety

      Sorry to hear that, Kelly. We ran into similar problems from time to time - definitely a frustrating feeling! I don't have experience with the suction style yet, but I'm curious in regards to the durability. Please let me know how it works if you go that route. Another option to consider would be one that tightens on the rear swim platform. One of our neighbors at the lake uses this method, and has had zero detachment issues.
