@@jonmanjeot solar is a valuable tool indeed. I can run my laptop, and charge multiple battles when out in the boondocks. I always admire your talents. Keep up the good work Jon.
I have a 2015 renegade trailhawk and I’m 5’9 tall and I had a lot of trouble crawling into the Jeep with the backseats down. Anything that will make it taller is a bad idea like the base you made. I got a yoga mat and laid it over the seats. Made my knees feel better while crawling in. I would love to get the REI 3 inch self inflating camp bed as well. As far as that gap behind the front seat I will figure it out I guess by filling it in with ice chest and pillows etc like most people do in their car campers. But this Jeep is way too small for car camping. I want to get a small cargo van instead but I wanna pay off this Jeep even more. I have a hitch on my Jeep but I don’t think it’s capable of pulling a small travel trailer like mypods. Regardless of what they say it tows 2,000 pounds etc. it’s a small little Jeep and I rather not stress it out too much with a lot of weight. I’m keeping my eyes open for renegade camper ideas. Great video. Thanks.
Great feedback on your own experiences. I have had some different results. The platform I built is only adding like three inches from the folded seats, plus it a flat platform is covered in 2" memory foam. I get in from the rear passenger doors and It sleeps amazing for me at 6' tall. I agree it is a small SUV, but that the beauty of the Renegade model. It's very capable off road and gets great gas mileage. It's a slam dunk for my needs. Good luck with your own conversion. - Jon
How did you flatten the board over those seats that don't fold flat? Maybe yours do..mine don't. Had to add a board under that front part to make the whole bed board flat. It's a 2023! Yours is great though..thanks for sharing
Looks great - but my Jeep renegade 2017 isnt flat like yours, as there's a big rift with the seats. Did you add a platform to the boot as well so it was on the same level as the seats when folded?
Im thinking about doing something similar with my new 2018 renegade. I was wondering now that its been a few months is there anything you wanted to change on your setup?
Oddly, nothing really. Just figuring the best place to store extra gear behind the front seats. Stuff that is used more often or less often. It's been really great for inconspicuous camping and it quite comfortable. I think you should convert your new Jeep, its worth it.
Do you plan to add to it? Was just curious if you are thinking of altering it at all for an outside chuck wagon at the back of the vehicle? I have done a similar slide show on my channel with my Jeep Renegade but still not satisfied with the set up. I like how you created more head room by vertically by making the platform with lower braces. Feel free to check out my channel AprilShikes and comment on what I could do differently. Great vlog hope to see more. Subbing!
What modifications are you making on your camper conversion?
Personally I would use a roof tent so I could use the interior for other things but pretty neat.
recently built my jeep out! Just added a little kitchenette yesterday!
I like it. Now your going to need a little solar power to recharge you camera batteries. Well done!
Thanks JP, Solar could be a future upgrade.

Mine is a 2017 and the rear seats do fold flat. Glad you liked the video.
I have an old Jeep Grand Cherokee that I am wanting to use as a camper, always looking for ideas.
Go for it! The "Van Life" is not the only way, use what you have available.
came out awesome!
It sure did, very functional and comfortable to sleep on.
Amazing!!!
Thanks!!
