We have all been waiting for a cheap rc car that is better than the wltoys 12428 rc car. It is time for an upgrade, right? Lets see if the WLtoys 12429 can beat it! We decided to bash this on the first snowy day of the year. This 1/12th scale 4wd rc car with lights looks so sweet. The battery died so quickly though. Hopefully it was just because of the cold! May be you need a set of paddle tires for the snow.
I bought this because of the looks as well, but I’d like to boost the speed and run time. I’ve never done a motor upgrade, so can you give me a some tips on upgrading motors? I’d like to try brushless.
@@dlafleur3944 for more run time a larger capacity battery or a more efficient motor eg brushless. i think hobby wing has a 1/12 scale combo available.

Had my tank out last week, we had the same snow here...it did great until it became a solid block of snow, but FUN!! Happy Valentine's Day to ALL!! I agree... cool looking buggy. I own a few WLToys Drones (sorry for that word) and I'm happy with those.
I love my Feiyue fy03 brushed Wltoys clone in red. Just the right speed for it's size. Nate is correct with the tendency to roll. I am upgrading from friction to oil dampened shocks which I think will help this little 12th scaler.
Definitely has the cool look factor going for it, especially in the snow. It ran good, and handled the snow without a problem. Problem is we don't get snow. Plenty of desert though. 😊. Looks like it could handle the sand. Good review as Alway's. ⚓⚓👍💗👍💚👍👍⚓⚓.

A set of cheap axle extensions work very well put them on my 12428 that I converted to brushless
I'd slap a gopro on this little buggy and make it my own little fpv snowball. Yep, your sweet little buggy has been nicknamed the snowball now. ; )
That cold weather and plowing through the snow drained the charge.
And I am from Europe Belgium. When I'm feeling a bit down, you guy's are my therapie, fooor shuuure! You guys are so sweet together. Love the talking sometimes more then the vehicle. Don't get me wrong, I'm all about rc, but not everybody brings it like you guys bring it.

I love the look of this model especially in the white. I have been curious if that super flexible plastic they are using is ideal for running in sub zero temperatures.

I'm with you Nate, love the way it looks. I think its a great candidate for mild brushless upgrade and that of course will probably break a few things that will need upgraded . Still you could probably make it pretty decent for another $100. So $200ish isnt bad ton me
Have you seen the ECX Temper 2 rockcrawler? Its affordable for beginners and its fun for trail crawls, I added front, rear, and bottom lights in addition to the built in roof lights on mine

You think it matters what grease I put on my gears in the bulkhead not the diff, I think I put to much since it’s leaking out where the driveshaft is or do you think I need another grease?
the throttle d/r is great for beginners and letting friends play with it.... also for indoors....

I like these but for $100 I think the arrma granite voltage is probably the best $100 buy you can find. I don't know how they did it for 100 but somehow they have the secret.

Definitely jealous since we're having a snowless (mostly) winter this year in PA. Anyway, I love the look of the truck/buggy. So what could you do (or I if I bought it) to make it a little faster or have more torque? It's been a long time since I've been in the hobby - Tamiya Blackfoot (OG model) so I'm just wondering if this is a fun, cheap platform to build from for fun or if there's better options.

Are you sure it wasn't a safe cut off due to load on the motor. When I hold my 12428 from moving and spin the wheels it cuts out, until I switch it off and on then it's good to go. Even if the battery is full charged.
Just saying if the battery is flat mine cuts out also but switching it off and on only runs for 5 or so seconds.
I've had mine for little over a year and I love it. I ramp it get it wet and its running on 3s lipo as well.

The question that needed an answer about WLTOYS RC car. Was the differential gear now are made of metal?
I have the 12429 and the diffs are metal. The rear drive shaft is plastic but metal upgrades are cheap on eBay.
Other model or brand better for arround 80€?
Exits upgrades: brushless motor, ball bearing and oil suspension?

As an owner of both 12428 and 12429 ..
The 12428 is the better unit it's slightly faster it has smaller wheels it handles better because of it ... and doesn't roll as easy
trick to snow being from maine you need an icy crust SWEET More Power that should not be dead . my batteries get full run time @10degrees

Looks like you got a slow one. I've seen videos of this truck going faster. I notice these WLToys vehicles there seems to be a bit of a lottery with the motor speed. It was the same with the 12428 and the 12402. Some youtubers got a slower one and others got a faster one. I definately won the motor lottery on my 12428. Was able to hit 31kph out of the box but some youtubers were getting 25 to 27. I saw one vid where they got 33kph out of the box. I say WAS because now I have gone brushless 3300KV with Hobbywing 120A ESC and 3S!!!
Yeah, my 12428 is pretty fast too. Wanted to buy this one too, to have fair races with friends, but it seems so slow in video's. If it's the same motor and ESC and stuff, I might take the gamble. Already have decent lipos for it lying around.

I drive hsp (sort of tamiya) 1/10 flying fish drifter and a dakar truck also 1/10 scale, so plenty of room for a sticker. ;-)

I wanted to put a bigger lipo in it so I just cut a bit of the tray and it's all good
How big of a lipo did you get into it?
I put in a 7.4v 3000mah 2s lipo

As long as the chassis stays above water you will be fine.
