    Wow, finally someone who can explain the way the dam thing works. I once did a summer internship in a local heavy equipment shop and the mechanics kept telling me that "the chisel doesn't move", which made no sense at all given that a hydraulic hammer is triggered by the weight placed on the chisel by the machine. These guys even got belligerent with me and told me to stop asking questions from what I can remember. Thank you so much for posting!

    You're not quite right in your description. The tool (you call it a chisel) does not push the piston up into the nitrogen chamber. This is done with hydraulic pressure. If the tool and piston move together as a unit there would be no hammer action. The nitrogen pressure acts as a shock absorber for the piston and helps the piston to start it's downwards stroke until the hydraulic switch over valve has switched over from pushing the piston up to forcing the piston down onto the tool. It is important to push the tool back into the hammer before starting the hammer, if it is not then the piston will dry fire (not hit the top of the tool) and may get damaged. This is a video to show the basics Rock Breaker's Principle of Operation

    @frederickmartinpalma7368 Před 9 lety +1

    does it mean on the first stroke that as long as you press the breaker on a rock and there's pressure, it's not necessary to use the hydraulic control valve?

    • @Engineer9736
      @Engineer9736 Před 3 lety

      That first stroke story i badly told. It's not a stroke. It's only the nitrogen giving more and more backpressure the harder you compress it. It's not like the nitrogen is giving an impact on the rock more than the excavator is pushing on it. It's exactly like compressing a mechanical spring but then with nitrogen. As long as no hydraulics are activated its not hammering.
      The hammering is apparently caused by ports in the piston which have a small offset compared to holes in the cylinder, which makes the piston move back and forth.

    Sir why did the breaker geates slow while we operate the other fansion during breaking and head gas geates high

    • @TechTrixInfo
      @TechTrixInfo  Před 2 lety

      Hi Dilip Good question.
      Speed depends on flow
      So when you combine another operation while operating breaks, the pump now have to supply flow to multiple operators resulting in less flow to each operation resulting in the breaker to slow.
      And at the same time when you have multiple operation the operation which has the priority will get more flow depending on how the circuit is designed.
      Hope it’s clear, please feel free to WhatsApp me @ +642102936490

    We have some hammers which hang vertically (3 in a row) and they suffer with dry firing. If we put the pressures up to 14 bar in the accumulator they struggle to fire, so we drop them to 12/13 bar and they will fire correctly until the system has warmed up to 52-55 degrees and the dry firing starts again. System pressure is 145 bar and fixed flow through the use of pressure compensated flow control valves. The model is a CP400 (Chicago Pneumatic). Could you also explain which surfaces the oil acts upon to fire the hammer up and down?

    Don't mind if i asked, i used to install a hydraulic breaker to some customer. I'm gonna be honest, I'm new on this industries. I found out that, some of the breaker after installed. work for couple 100 hour it stop functioning.
    Customer did said that, after the excavator heat up. the breaker won't even moving and getting power down.
    is there any big problem? the measuring pressure were put accordingly to guide.
    is that the viscosity of hydraulic or or internal problem?

    Looking into a bobcat skid steer break. I was told it'll work for a bit. When it stops, you have to back flow the hydraulic flow. Then it'll maybe work a little longer. I believe they did charge the nitrogen once. Where's first place to look for a fix?

    Hi, very interesting video, i work with hydraulics a lot and was wondering where you got this principle from? the hammers ive been working with are different (montabert brand that is), there is a component termed a distributor which is similar to that of an additional piston, in place of the 'head cap' that you term, when flow passes through this distributor it moves in the opposite direction until it goes far enough that another cavity pushes it back the other way, all the while hitting the
