I kind of wish there was a built-in diffuser, similar in design to the Foxelli headlamp, that one could quickly deploy to provide a brighter flood when needed.

For me battery life is a major thing. I also like a wide even spread of the light. I find that the quality of the reflector and optics can be one of the things that I am willing to spend some extra money on. When I put together gear for a trip I like all my gadgets to use the same type of batteries, usually AAA. Mostly I just use the lights around the camp site, so high output can be a disadvantage. Bright lights damages night vision quickly. I like the flashlights to be as simple as possible. If possible just a on/off switch.
I have found lately that colour temperature of the light really makes a difference when using the lights. A lot of the LEDs has a blue tint that I really don't like. When using flashlights with a natural/neutral colour temperature I find it easier to find stuff and navigate trough the woods at night.
Thanks for the video - Martin

for a hard use emergency light go for the surefire or elzetta. ive had success running an orbtronic 17670 rechargeable battery in my fury and avs head elzetta. the surefire e2d did not do well with it and was significantly less bright and had problems switching through modes. helps cut down the cost of using primary cr123a non rechargeables but i keep those on hand for storage or backup.
i didnt like the thrym switchback on my g2x and fury. the pocketclip wasnt great and i felt like itd break. poor retention. the ring works. i ran a pocket clip from solarforce and a rubber o-ring on my g2x and fury. worked very well! just needed the o-ring to fill the gap when you tighten down the tailcap. you'd need the elzetta pocket clip for the elzetta light.
thrunite makes great lights, but surefire and elzetta would be more durable. i edc a thrunite tn12 everyday since 2014, the catapult v5 should be heavy duty like the old ones were and theres videos of people hammering nails with those. my elzetta stays in my backpack, the surefires stay around the house, and i usually have a thrunite in my pocket for task use.
and i love the plunger style lights. let my buddy borrow 2 of them for camping with his family: olight m2x javelot and nitecore mt40

I love my Bravo, but 16650 is better since technically 16650 has more juice than 17670.

@@yourfilipinotv6477 i run a lot of 16650's til this day. i love it in the surefire e series and 2 cell malkoff, elzetta, surefire and streamlight.
i know 18650 is better if you can fit it but im a huge fan of the surefire e series, particularly the tactician. one of mine works well with 16650's, another not so much.
malkoffs as well. runtime is great and they are rugged. great old school lights

@@jacobmanalang8162 I run 16650 and 16340s for my Elzetta Bravo, AVS is great. I can get Charlie's output by using a pair of 16340 but the runtime is short.

My needs are diverse. I work at a truck stop and am frequently out in the backlot at night. I need a flashlight that I can comfortably carry on myself and look professional, but still powerful enough to light up in between the trucks when I am searching for some transient or lot lizard trying to hide from me.

My biggest concern is size. The light has to be compact enough that I'm not going to notice that its on me. My EDC light is a Streamlight Microstream.

Would you recommend the G2X-LE for a police officer as a duty light? Thank you

      @EverydayTacticalVids  Před 8 lety +1

+Jeenius IAMa I am not LE, but having tested the G2X-LE and EDC'd it a while, I'd say yes. That is actually who it's designed for. And just met an officer the other night running a Surefire (not sure of the model though).

EverydayTacticalVids thank you so much sir. i wasnt sure about runtime and lumen drop. in germany the police work 12 hour shifts and one doesnt really want to change batteries while you are in a long lasting traffic stop. also you dont want to have 40 to 50% less lumens cause the light drops down to 50% after 5 minutes etc.
anyway i appreciate your help and quick response

Practical UI that is still easily used under stress. (0.5 lumen option, mid range option, max output option with max output the most mindlessly accessible.), reliability, run time, CRI, and throw. Output has reached impractical levels already, so not terribly concerning.

price and warranty is what i usually look for. Maglite is what i carry. Can't really beat them for the price and quality
