- On Engineer's day, we bring to light the massive industry in India where lakhs of engineers get churned out with degrees but are not qualified with even elementary engineering skills. "Today there are several colleges that are nothing more than sheds with lecturers who can be equated with a class 3 failed student", says Mohandas Pai, Chairman of Manipal Global Education. Educationist TD Chandrasekhar agrees and explains that due to parental and social pressure, candidates who have no interest or skill in the field of engineering end up being certified as engineers by colleges of extremely low standards. No one understands this.All students studying engineering are not stupid . People compare them to engineering students in America and Germany. Before making the comparison they should look what kind of environment our children are studying w.r.t faculties, infrastructure and employability after they graduate. It is quite easy to blame a child even if he or she has taken admission on merit for people hardly listen to the weak. Instead these people should have invited the students to discuss these things.

First of all ,the root of the problem is in our education system. One student who is so good in physics and mathematics bt he doesn't understand chemistry for which he failed in this subject in 12 do not allow him to give jee mains. For jee mains he has to give 12 again. Here is the main problem starts, his confidence ,his interest about that two subject just fade away only because of one subject .Though in mechanical engineering there is no need of chemistry,if some problem arise which is related to chemistry then he could take help from a chemist.
But no, you have to pass in PCM.
Another example, for computer science students there is no need of chemistry still they have to give jee mains or advance in PCM.
But there are some student who did not pass 12 because of chemistry or maths but they are very good at programing ,have pure knowledge of cars,machines,design more than those who are studying engineering,but those students are not getting practical exposure ,financial support etc etc.
So how would you expecti ng good engineers ?? Most of the students do so much hard work for memorizing one thing ,do not go out for 1 or 2 years only to crack jee mains and advance which is required to get admission in engineering college .After getting admisson there they realized that ohh i don't have interest in engineering.
But there are students who couldn't not do hard work and some have different types of problems but have pure interest in engineering are not getting admisson.
The conclusion is at the end, if you don't have iit tag then no one gives a damm shit about you, though you have amazing ideas.
Change the education system and give students freedom to chase their dream not in terms of some exam you have to clear. Then ,very good and knowledgeable engineers will come out👍

Indian education system doesn't encourage it's student for research , innovation , and problem solving methods. our education system is mainly based on theoretical knowledge. It doesn't concern about practical aspects and industrial internship. That is why , We cannot get quality based workforce. some government policies such as make in India is just as FDI in India (not make in India). It means we are only interested to copy some foreign technology in our country but we are not interested in innovating Technologies by ourself. It will never going to help India to be self reliable in a future.

(1) Education is not a hotel business were make to order engineers will be served hot and testy to customer needs as it takes time to saw and reap.
(2) Every candidate going for engineering line is coming from nation wide accepted education benchmarked system and colleges have minimum percentage for admission cut out benchmark, hence iT becomes wastage of talented upcoming well learned students when he is targeted for ordinary by false demand.
(3) if students getting in to engineering can get more than 70% than who can he will get converted in to 6 to 8% suitable candidate?
(4) Department of education is so educated that they are not in position to match and guide youth to demand and supply gap thus unfortunately guided to vegetable marketing
(5) The engineer has to face reality, and find best employment alternative as well as earning potential alternative from exploitative industry and education

Reason of failure to become Engineer-- 1.No certain rule and defined procedure of select criteria and training for freshers. 2.Engineering college is focus on theory no practical course.3.Senior are getting job with 3K also even not better than Taxi driver means Bad social value of motivation toward engineering 4.Last but not least Many people who get zero or negative marks in engineering entrance exam also getting the seat in college other words selection criteria itself is bad.So AICTE and UGC must make minimum 50% mark in entrance mandatory .I found most of engineer who have more than 50%in entrance they today also engineer.So Engineering student is not problem but rule or police to become engineer is bad bad bad .how can get good tree with bad seed?

I am a inter pass person, I work in a BPO. I have lived and spent time with engineers from IT industries...what I have observed is that most of them have very narrow view of current events and very less knowledge of common life skills....Most of them lack conversational skills and many are extremely introverts. When a person lacks in his base so much how can he be a visionary or problem solver in his life at the very least ?? Even if such people learn management how can they run a company in a competitive environment ?

Sr ....ap mujhe bat bataea ....if I m a science student n m not having bio. As a subject.. then what prospects are there for me...I belong to a rural area... I cannot do BSc Msc n because the process is too lengthy...study for other professions r hardly there in out country....so u suggest me what to do.

in my opinion, any undergrad doing engineering will never become good engineer until he does not know why he is doing it, what he can do with it....................i feel engineering opens a PANDORA BOX for many to understand this dynamic world better then ur rival

I am totally disagree with this argument because of when engineers in industry their is practical approach needs not theoritical aproch and over engineering collage focus only theories. That's why engineers fail as first time level of jobs for 1 years or 2 years not more then this after completion one and half year industry they actually trained so saying that engineers is worthless is asques not more then this. Problem is industry don't want to train them. And also problems with education system otherwise over engineers is good im term of many aspect problem with other only is they only need perfection but the main think which being to foucsed practice ( training) makes perfect.
Student not.. develop skill self skill

Solution to this problem is simple....1)Private college Kam kro , those left unme faculty ka ek standard fix kro. For ex- only those qualified in gate exam or done m-tech from nit's or iit's can teach .2) second one is major problem jiski koi baat nhi krta. Mai apna example deke explain krta hu. I m 2013 batch pass-out. I applied for Uttar pradesh state engineering service exam 2013. Exam conducted by commission in 2016 ( after 2.5 yrs ) , result till date not declared . How many years :-) joke na. Jab states apna kaam nhi kregi to unemployed to bdege hi. 3) seats should increase in IES , gate ,ssc exams but problem is seats are decreasing .In short agar root level pe kaam kiya jaaye to sab sudhar sakta hai. Jab CLG Kam hoge to unhi Ko admission mil paayega Jo engineering krne layak hoge, ek Baar admission hone pe education bdiya di gyi to they will crack exams easily . Moreover if seats are less ,students passing out also less so max will get job.
T. D.Chandrashekhar Is Optimistic, The Problem Is With Education System. Due To Pvt Schools, Undergraduate Colleges, Colleges For Graduation Are Promoting Their Students, just to earn Money, actually most of the schools and Colleges are not providing Basic education to develop intrest to have proper understanding so there is no question of developing skill. I tutor by profession,I worked as teacher and lecturer, so I know, where the surgery is required.
In 4 years of studying ,they only study limited and don;t go beyond the syllabus ...
Simply they are not building skill. Theory based study and Engineering study are different.
And Indian education authority need to understand .

Engineering is just lyk a graduation degree , I am (mechanical) 2015 pass out now I cracked ibps and rrb ntpc 2015 both in one attempt because engineering studies have enhanced my aptitude skill and grasping power 5 times , there is no loss because I did my enginerring from govt college, but It is advised pls do not take admission in private college otherwise u will spoil ur carrier private colleges is just lyk a business
