I have seen 3 matches of indian football team playing in Qatar đŸ‡¶đŸ‡Š live
    Recently during AFC cup
    IND vs AUS
    IND vs UZB
    INDIA vs SYR
India didn't even scored a single goal in those 3 matches
For every match many Indian supporters had come for all the 3 matches
There were no coordination between player's or passes
Due to which they lost all 3 matches
Hardly sunil chetri was getting ball to score the goal
    No proper pasese
The other teams were much better and experienced and the passes and energy was 10/10

Gym bhi bas looks aur cool lagne ke liye jaate. Aise shallow culture meh kaha sporting culture banenge. Gym vaalon ko 10 round bhagva do phat jayegi.

Syria afghanistan players are nurtured in foreign academies.the footballers from afghanistan majority of them are afghan Origin players who were living in Netherlands germany etc. They grew up in those foreign academies got nurtured there and represents there team even though they may not even speak the native language properly.
And you are also underestimating a lot of countries.evensyria or say Nigeria ,Mali, the so called poor african countries in a normal indian guys mind have far more infrastructure stadiums academies league structure than u find in india.
But if you take a countries like Liberia they don't have the same infra as Nigerians so there team is ranked lower than india.see it's just not about physicality. It's about a comprehensive system through which talent is nurtured

Very true. And it is not just about having a system that enables finding young talent, even the mindset of the people has to change to bring in more people to participate in sports and as an audience. Even though cricket is popular in India, it is not seen as a sport by many. So many of them don't know the LBW rules, they don't know fielder positions, fielding restrictions, concept of swing bowling, types of spin, etc. even after years of watching the game. Most are watching for the entertainment and hype. A true sporting nation will have individuals following a sport they are naturally inclined to and not dictated by hype or what their friends, parents, or society are inclined to.

There are multiple contributing factors I think.
    1. What parent allows their kids to play football in the streets.
    2. What streets can you play football in (in Indian cities).
    3. Most of the schools do not have proper playgrounds (at least in most cities in India)
    4. Parents don't permit the kids to play - they want them to study.
    5. What kind of coaches do we have in India. Some bureaucrat (if any without any idea on how to develop kids for sports).
    My next two are controversial:
    a. I believe 80% of any winning athlete is in the head - Indians are taught - participation is good enough. You need to change this mentality to -" I am going to Crush everybody and do what it takes to win"
    b. Racially are we built to be super-athletes?I think people of African descent are tops in the category - Look at all the European nations teams (and leagues)..

  • @gsourav
    @gsourav Pƙed 14 dny +2

I have a slightly different take on this. Cricket in India became what it is today over many decades. Indian cricket was NOT huge in 1983 when we won the World Cup. We were the underdogs then, with very less facilities for cricketers back then. Still the spirit and never-say-die attitude of the players won us back then. That's how the interest got going and we never looked back and Cricket became what it is today in India.
A similar moment never came in Indian football even after so many years of existence. Forget participating and winning the FIFA World Cup. So many years of existence, should have at least done well in Asia by now. Like it or not, one can't expect the public to give limelight, unless they win at least something remotely significant. I feel, only pointing to lack of awareness, interest and facilities is not right.

Cricketing nations like England, Australia and South Africa have much better athletes in other sports so they don't care much about cricket.

There is a reason Manipur is known as sports hub of India.
Even though they represent india, it is very hard to win as NE PPL mostly represent in hard sports like Boxing,MMA,Taekwondo,Judo,Wushu etc.. and weightlifting
While ignoring easier sports like hockey, javelin throw etc

      8 gold medals in hockey
      1 in rifle shooting.
      1 in javelin throw.

Gopichand brought structure and passion to the sport and invested in building next generation of Champions. We are lucky with Cricket because the groundwork was done pre-independence. The truth is football is not a key sport for next Gen. since there is no excellence or money in the system. Secondly as a team sport it is harder to achieve success at an international level than individual sports. That said with the present Facilities India should be atleast top 50, our players losing to much smaller countries is unacceptable.
