  • BBC Sport travels to Madrid to explore if Los Blancos will spend big on some of the 'Galacticos' of modern football.
    After four Champions League wins in five seasons, Real Madrid endured a trophyless season in 2018-19, and the club are widely expected to rebuild their team this summer.
    But with Zinedine Zidane back at the helm, will we see another team of 'Galacticos' assembled at the Santiago Bernabeu?

Bale is a Real Madrid legend and we thank him for everything he has done for the club, unfortunately it’s time for change. GK - Courtois, Zidane

      @erfanrahmani Před 5 lety +4

      @Thomas vanDyke exactly, and there are other rich clubs like PSG and Man City. I believe Wolverhampton will become another Man City in terms of spending big money and huge ambition

    • @ComradeOgilvy1984
      @ComradeOgilvy1984 Před 5 lety +2

      To a degree the slide of Barca is accentuating Real's problems. When the two team were CL powerhouses for a decade, that made the Barca and Real La Liga games every weekend big events to watch. For a while Barca had 3 of the top 4 or 5 players from South America (Messi, Suarez, Neymar). Think of the branding power that gave them, in Latin America! At long as Real was competitive, Barca's success made Real stronger, and pursuing different styles and strategies was good for both clubs.
      At this point, Barca has nothing but Messi, in spite of spending good money, and Messi will not be around forever. They never really replaced Xavi or Iniesta.
      Real Madrid lost CR7, and they did not really try to replace him, just banking on aging Bale, Modric, Benzema, Ramos to hold the club together.
      France (PSG) and Italy (Juve) have money to spend, too. RM can bag Hazard and Pogba, but is that going to make a winning team again? RM cannot afford going "wall to wall" with superstars.

    • @erfanrahmani
      @erfanrahmani Před 5 lety

      ComradeOgilvy1984 yes mate, your point are right
      The reason that Barca and RM dominated CL in last decade is bcuz italian football was drowning due to their mistakes and economic crisis
      They had so teams full of superstars, but when the economic crisis arrived they realised that they didn't care enough about their academics, which is why it took them so long to overcome the issues
      And english clubs are too busy with domestic competitions, and they prefer to win them rather than CL, I mean the priority for english football is different
