"A hero can be anyone, even a man doing something as simple and reassuring as putting a coat around a young boys shoulders, to let him know the world hadn't ended." Goosebump moment. Loved that part.
i did too. you woulda thought gordon had bruce wayne in mind all these yrs as batman. gordon was batman's hero cuz of his unwillingness to go corrupt.
+Corek BleedingHollow A hero can be anyone, even a man doing something as simple and reassuring as spending 40000000000 $ on gear and cars to capture criminals and has a bloody big mansion with a cave underneath" -- there fixed that for you
The first moment I heard that quote, and the music hit, I cried a bit.

Golden moment of the film.
When you realize that Gordon saw Batman as a hero, Gordon was Batman's hero all this time :(

This comment is so underrated and true‼️
Christopher Nolan is a master, man. All the films I’ve watched by him? Blown away. Couldn’t have asked for anyone better.
What about the villain(s) that made us suffer through three prequel movies AND three sequel movies...
"... Tim Burton? "
@@nopejoeandangie "three" movies
I love this moment, because what Batman is saying to Gordon here is: you were a hero to me. A simple but touching message.
darthen856 Also saying a hero can be anyone... and everybody loves a hero. I find the message similar to what aunt Parker was saying to Peter Parker in Spiderman 2 "everybody has a hero..." "it makes us noble..."
darthen856 omg youre so right
darthen856 wow ! You are so smart
Profiledek back when Aunt May was a deep and great character. Now she is just a bland character like the new Spider-Man, but hey, remember that scene? It was funny right??
Hell yeah
What I love about Nolans Batman is that he tells his identity in a personal way. In a way that only that person will know.
Well said!
Yes! Also the way he told Rachel!
sanjana kundaliya is not who I am underneath but what I do that defines me
so true. Once You go through the trilogy u can see the relations between the characters
The same way he told Rachel. Man I love this trilogy.
The moment he tells him is so powerful. How he looks straight into his eyes and reminds Gordon of what he did for him during one of the darkest times of his life. It wasn't about letting him know who he is, it was about telling Gordon that he never forgot that simple gesture and it was his way of saying thank you.
Gordon: I never said thank you...
Bruce: and you'll never have to
It’s really touching, Gordon was Batman’s Hero.
Gordon never cared who the Batman was, he just wanted to honor him in death. But I'm glad he kept it mostly a secret and only Bruce's inner circle knew. The Batman statue at city hall, amazing ending. Very touching.
It was a moment of faith for Bruce, but also, the birth of Batman because he could not do it alone...he needed someone Bruce could trust. Gordon revealed his true nature in that moment. Bruce wouldn't forget.
@@josephmatthew9724 Yes, at the end Batman was everyone's hero but Gordon was Batman's hero.
Batman has never actually said "I'm Bruce Wayne." Instead he always tells the other person something that only Bruce Wayne would know, like this and "It's not who I am underneath, it's what I do that defines me."
Thats his chatacter. Bruce wearing a mask to protect the love ones. Its alomost like when he takes the mask away he is a total diferent person
Bruce?......
Bruce Wayne is his mask
In a way its even better than saying his name cause maybe anyone could say "I'm bruce wayne" under the mask, but by telling them something only bruce could know it confirms without any doubt.
Yeah other than telling his name, he's giving them hints.
The way James Gordon says "Bruce Wayne..?" is so spectacular. Gives me chills every time.
Old man Gary is a helluva performer.
Does this means Gordon knows Bruce Wayne is Batman?
@@tvalokibatman6563 obviously
He says it with such genuine bewilderment.. Like.. "Really? Bruce Wayne? That's truly the last person i would have" thought.
@Jordan McGinnis yea well, imagine finding out Elon Musk dresses up as a bat and goes out as a vigilante at night...
After Bruce tells Gordon what a hero is, and starts to take off, you can see Gordon's scarf blowing behind him... like a cape.

that last line that Batman gives to Gordon makes me realize that it wasn't just losing his parents that pushed Bruce into creating the Batman, it was also Gordon. It's almost like Batman was created by both the dark side of Gotham and the bright side. Seems very poetic :)
Edit: fixed the name. At the time of posting this comment I had just gotten myself a new phone so the autocorrect was on by default and it must've kept auto-correcting Gordon to Gordan, I'm aware that his name is Gordon. Am I the only one who almost teared up when Batman cryptically told Gordon he was Bruce Wayne and Gordon figured it out? I say almost teared up because I saw this in theaters with my girlfriend who I've been only going out with for a few months at the time and didn't want her to see me crying over a Batman movie. Which by the way I didn't see coming. I never thought I would get emotional during this movie. Nolan is a master. Music by Hans Zimmer helped too.
Yeah, it was quite an emotional scene. I got kinda teary-eyed myself. And I believe the composer is Hans Zimmer.
I have the same reaction nearly every time I watch it. Especially when they show the flashback of Gordon putting the coat around Bruce Wayne, and Zimmer's music behind it.... Damn! Just thinking about it makes gets me emotional ;)
Joe Tufano Me too. Nolan is a film genius. I first got into his work with "Memento" and "Insomnia". When I found out he was doing the Batman series, I was like "Hell yeah!". And Hans Zimmer is a great composer.

These final talks with Jim Gordon is honestly one of my favorite parts of the trilogy. It’s just two people who fights for what’s good in Gotham even if it is corrupted to the core. And through it all, Jim Gordon is forever grateful for what Batman has done, even if he never figured out his identity til the end. “It’s not who you are underneath, it’s what you do that defines you.”
“I never said thank you.”
“And you’ll never have to.”
“Thank you.”
“You don’t have to thank me.”
“Yes I do”
“I never cared who you were.”

Well said
+TheReaper5125 That is not true. Not a single character in the Nolan movies looks like their comic book counter parts. Maybe Gordon and somewhat Alfred.
I think that is what made Nolan so great, making a comic book movie but detaching himself completely from the orignal source material.
It gives us a great new look on character we love. Nolan is one of my fav adaptation even if it has extremely little in common with the original source.
The most faithful adaptation of the ORIGINAL comics is Adam West.
However, the 90' batman cartoon is still the closest thing you will get to the comics in a general sense.
+Celine Lanaro I don't really know how accurate it is to the comics but what I know for sure is that Nolan's trilogy covers everything on the Batman and Gotham ... maybe even better than the comics ever did. From Bruce Wayne's past, the workings of Wayne Enterprises, politics in Gotham, Bruce's mentality, his character development, his evolution into the Batman, how he juggles his life as a billionaire and a crime fighter, how his gear is covered for .... the list goes on. The trilogy really made sure to cover all aspects of the Batman, not only the individual, but also society and the surroundings as a whole.
TheReaper5125 I agree, Nolan did a fantastic job.
I am just saying that it is wrong to say that this the most accurate portrayal because it is greatly different from the original source material.
Don't get me wrong, different does not mean inferior or bad. I agree 100% with you saying that this version is part of the very best.
I'm just pointing out that the wording you used is not exactly correct.

Whoooah, careful with that nuke, Batman. He just haphazardly dropped it on the ground before taking off, lol.
I have always though that too. "Let me just drag this thermonuclear reactor along the ground as high speed for a bit, I'm sure it will be fine."
Contrary to popular belief, nukes can't be detonated from any impact whatsoever. They also can't be detonated in a chain reaction from another bomb. They have to be remote detonated.
They don't function like traditional bombs that have explosive materials inside that explode under impact. It has to be armed and triggered manually to detonate... or in this case, triggered with a timer.
Arstulex well how do you explain the 2 nukes from WW2?
Sacha Wolf They were... detonated? Did I really need to answer that?
They weren't accidentally dropped on Japan. They were intentionally detonated. Feel free to re-read my previous comment.
Arstulex I know that😂 I just thought that they exploded when hitting the ground
the fact batman a myth like legends in history is so thrilling
Love how the music from when Gordon gives his coat to Bruce reappears when Batman flys over the bridge, showing the detonation and the supposed demise of Batman. I like to think this moment in particular really cemented him as a hero to Joseph Gordon Levitt’s character and inspires him to become robin. Establishing that anyone can be a hero.
When I was watching this in theaters, in its premiere, I could feel being in that cockpit with Batman. I could feel the cold air and the weight of the bomb. It all felt so real. And all I could think of was "No. No. Nolan, you can't kill my childhood hero. You can't do this". And then tears started streaming down my face, me trying to hold my breath so I wouldn't start crying out. And then the ending scene came up. My jaw dropped. And then the title came up. And I was up with other people, applauding, with the biggest smile on my face. ... I can't even express how much I love Nolan. His films are the only ones for me that can cause such an emotional rollercoaster, to the point you forget you're watching a movie. No, I don't think every of his film is perfect. But damn, they are... they're beyond entertaining. They're something so essential for me.

I am wondering if the mask itself tightens his throat/nose just enough to alter his voice. It would be kinda annoying to always have to control your voice manually.
i mean i agree but he was still batman in that scene. thats the batman way, to speak in that batman voice no matter who he's talking to

one of my favourite movie scenes of ALL time
Absolute perfect scene. The acting, dialogue, music. Everything.
I believe people are missing one of the most important part of this scene and that is batman and Gordon's talking before he departs and that is. It's not have batman having a suit or unlimited resources or an arensal of weapons to battle the antagonist. Much less he's an idea, that anyone could be a hero just as Gordon was just as Blake was. That in his eyes their was no differences in any of them, only that people got caught up of the idea of batman and that's the hero. Never realizing when the time came they rose up themselves to do what was right instead of being cowards. I absolutely love this scene it makes batman that much more noble. People see this wonderful self sacrificing person and believe that's a hero not knowing that batman sees these people and thinks you and I are not that different. Just brilliant I love it and yes I did cry.
Watch Into the spiderverse and Stan Lee wrote/said practically the same thing in a different way, it comes up at the end. We can all be heroes sometimes unknowingly. A kind gesture, a warm smile, words of encouragement can sometimes make someone's world just that little bit warmer.
what's even better is the scene after this when Bruce and Alfred look at each other in the restaurant but don't say anything to one another just how Alfred intended... absolutely loved these batman movies
When I saw this in theatres, i was 9. I was literally bawling my eyes out. Nolan's trilogy are the greatest superhero films of all time
Truly love the way batman tell about himself who realy he is...chills...
