you also need struts from the wing to the fuselage but I actually know that you can use a form of bottle string that you twist using a drill and a vice.. you have to make it roll over on itself and then heated up till partial melt to keep it straight

A couple minute later:
**goes in at 45-50 degrees**
I know I hate how they say “Dive bombing” when its really glide bombing.
they don't have air brakes and they are trying not to snap the wings
It's not like there isn't actual film footage of the Stuka diving which is not the angle at which they dropped the bomb. If the dives were that shallow they would not need to have the auto pull out because of the pilot blackout problem.
You can see how the slightest of movement affects the critical angle of attack on the model plane. The faster it goes, the less stable it becomes to move around in. Without specially designed air brakes for that model, control might not respond and because of the intense speed of air travelling around the wings, it will eventually snap. Their idea of "dive bombing" was already correct but their limitations is in the engineering of the plane.
They couldn't climb high enough to make a 70 degree angle dive
I love how they don’t get mad when it breaks, they just laugh it off!

You should add dive brakes! That would be not only really scale and cool, but would make bombing much easier!
Yeah that speedbrake would help him from overspeed the aircraft and crash
Will they be effective at this scale tho?
@@Erik_coolman Good question, I think they would, certainly worth a try. And they would be a nice scale detail either way!
Okay Albert
Yes! Air brakes will really help slow the plane down. I'm worried (like others) the Gs pulling out of a dive, the force on the wings is going to be a lot for a foam wing. Will need a lot of reinforcement.
My great grandpa got attacked by these in Gratangen, Norway during the war. He survived, but had nightmares and woke up from plane noises at night until he died. These sirens did what they were meant to do I guess.
Sorry bro
may your great grandfather rest in peace.
im sorry your grandfather deserved better, war is so terrible yet so fascinating at the same time. Your grandpa has all my respect.
"MARTIN! GET TO THE FLAK GUN! SHOOT THAT STUKA DOWN!"
The siren was eventually taken off the 87 as it affected the crew flying more than the people on the ground as they were used as close support for artillery attacking the enemy whether Polish, french, British or Canadian at the beginning of ww2. By 1943 the aircraft was defunct due to being too slow and too higher loses.
yeah I'm pretty sure they weren't able to actually turn it off in most versions so the pilot literally had to listen to the thing screaming at him the entire time from takeoff till landing.
Stuka: delivers bomb
Wing: “ight, imma head out”
The Stuka had a bomb rack under it that tossed the bomb away from the plane.

The siren sounds like a racing quad. Not the howling original.
thats not makeable to realize. the frequence of the sirenes tone depends on its size so you cant generate the frequenz of a original sirene whith ist much bigger. second thing that maybe could be done, the sirene on the original ist rotated by a propeller so the sound "rises" by the lenght of the dive when the rpm become higher. amotor powerd sirene of cause generates only a continuos equal sound.
So let´s build a new one, completely covered with fiberglas-epoxy and a propeller powerd sirene! (but this one was also a good one)

Uh oh, Stuka f**k
That ending was perfect for a Stuka 🤣 especially considering a fair portion of stukas did crash shortly after dropping their payload...usually from an AA-flak cannon, but still🤣
The siren is called a "Jericho Siren". There were two versions. Early versions were driven by the slipstream of the air as the plane took off and stayed "on" from take off until landing. Later versions had a control inside the cockpit that the pilot could activate during the siren. That way, the pilot wouldn't be driven bat crap crazy by the constant screech of the siren.
thats a real crash to be expected from a plane like this one
They forgot the overspeed warning XD
@@anchovyhmmm5681 high speed retract flaps
@@anchovyhmmm5681
They forgot the automatic system that the Stuka had xD
Basically there was a system integrated into the height indicator, and it were set moments before the dive.
Once dropped beneath the set altitude, the plane would have dropped the bomb automatically and then pitch out of the dive, should have the pilot fainted by the vertical G forces during the process.
As the plane became, during the dive, virtually automatic, the pilot simply had to focus on keeping the Stuka aligned with the target, it would have done the rest for him.
I think they needed air brakes
damn revenge CAS
To really get the effect of that siren in a bomb attack, you should film it from the target's perspective. The Doppler effect is indeed terrifying.

Your family: *goes on a picnic*

The family ww2 veteran: TAKE COVER
Pretty sure the G forces when you pulled out of the dive are what ripped the tip of the wing off. You had a lot more dive time on the second run than in the first run, thus allowing the plane to achieve more speed than it was probably really rated for, given the construction. All in all, I'd say both runs were a success given relative blast radius and effect-on-target therein. Wonderful video, boys. Keep it up!
that plane faced a 10g force lol of course was gonna break
The original Ju 87 had dive brakes under the wings to prevent from getting too fast to pull out of the dive. They looked like fences and created drag.
I bet it was structural failure too as a result of the spring energy. The aero g forces plus the recoil from the spring would have done it

@@dakufaust you arw correct the sirens were working on the air traveling thru that is why the sound changed when increasing airspeed going into the dive and climbing out
@@WarriorOO2 I’ve heard that it was tuned so that it would start making noise when the plane hit it’s target dive speed so the pilot didn’t have to look at the gauges and could focus on dropping the bombs instead.
Stumbled across this by accident and loved every minute of it, shocked to see the Stukas demise though, such a shame. If you build another one can I suggest either fitting air brakes or easing out of the dive as I'm pretty sure that was over loading on the wing which ripped off the port wing, very good illustration for all pilots of what g-forces can do if not accounted for.

There’s a guard tower joke in there somewhere...XD
The Stukas had a mechanism that would kick in at the end of a dive bomb to help the plane come out of the dive. The pilots typically experienced so many Gs that they would black out.
The RAF Pilots learned to either wait for the Ju-87 to come back up after dropping it's main bomb, or simpler than that, attack them in level flight, where they pootled along at about 250 mph, and easy prey for the 300+ mph Hurricane, Spitfire, and even Defiant. In the Mediterranean theatre and Norway, they were successfully ambushed and shot down by Gloster Gladiator biplane fighters. The Stuka was transferred to the Eastern front, and a lot were re-equipped with 20mm anti tank cannon, and were known as the 'Panzerknacker'.
@Pretty Fly for a WiFi they ended up scrapping the siren because they figured giving the enemy a heads up that a bomb was coming gave them time to take cover
