The graphics and combat looks excellent, although the facial animations look a little dated that's a minor complaint.
It's Bioware. Known for great storytelling, fun gameplay, deep worldbuilding, and totally shit facial models. I'm fine with it though. As long as it's as fun as it looks and I like the characters/story, I'm sold.
Well, it may be extremely difficult to blend "perfect" facial animations, with cutscenes that allow a player to interact and choose different dialogue options at the same time. It's obviously not the same as a pre-rendered scene, which would have more polygons, allowing for a higher range of animation.

TBH The Witcher 3 facial animation wasn't that great too.

These are some of the most beautiful facial animations I have ever seen in a video game, they are practically indistinguishable from real life, I'm seriously in awe by the fascinating amount of detail.

I especially like the procedural NPC generation @ 3:58. Reminds me of Watson in Sherlock Holmes Nemesis.
I think it's pretty weird they don't have a mini map on the hud. Hopefully they give you an option, because if the game is even close to as big as they say it is, I'm going to hate opening my menu map constantly.

Zander 7589 It's up to you. It's a separate galaxy so it doesn't leave you feeling confused about the events that took place in the trilogy. So far I've played four hours of the trial and they do mention previous game characters, but that shouldn't hurt your experience if you decide to play Andromeda first. I do recommend you play the trilogy it's one you will remember.
Mass effect 2 had such a blade runner vibe i miss that. This game looks spectacular and the gameplay looks awesome.

No way we'll know until dlc comes out. though at least there's no day 1 dlc this time that was clearly cut from the main game to be sold separately *cough* ME 3 from ashes DLC *cough*.

I typically hate EA because of this, but for this game they have said that DLC will be free, with options to purchase items for your pathfinder. I maybe wrong, but The know covered it a bit.
+AndyBiz10 Multiplayer dlc will be free, meaning new maps, weapons and characters for MP will not cost anything. singleplayer DLC however will probably cost somewhere between $10-$15, going off of previous games.

Very impressive game! I can´t wait to discover all these mysterious space creatures and drive around this offroad-beach-buggy like fun vehicle :)
The only things that are missing in this game to make this game PERFECT would be a cockpit view of the Nomad vehicle, some beautyful rain effects on the windshield on planets with weather, and creepy intergalactic space cyborg zombies and Xenomorphs and some other eerie survival horror stuff. I really enjoyed movies like Ghosts of Mars, The last Days on Mars (and it`s beautyful vehicles in which they drove around in this movie), Screamers, Event Horizon and other good movies that could inspire DLC`s for this new Mass Effect game.
The car looks like the batmobile from Arkham Knight.

i'd rather fight the reapers. at least mass effect 3 gave you that feeling of fighting impossible odds. that feeling of danger and war. this just feels like bioware sat down and said "oh look people are getting hyped for games like no mans sky and star citizen, let's give them this half assed game"

Dumb question guys but I don't know where else to ask, I see that Origins has early access for it, but do I have to have their monthly subscription or can I just preorder the game to have the early access?
You have to have Origin Access. It's actually smarter to get it first because if you get it for a month ($5) and you find out that you want to get Andromeda it takes off 10% of the game with the subscription. (You're basically saving two bucks from a $60 price-tag but whatever.)

Judging by a lot of the comments concerning this game on PC Gamer, you'd think this was Daikatana 2 or something. Not seeing what all the hate is about, seems a lot like a Mass Effect game to me.

Seriously, though....what's with all the negativity towards this game so far? I don't get it. I'm not expecting this game to overthrow the Original Trilogy, in terms of story. It most likely won't happen, because of the brilliance that was the Mass Effect Trilogy, as a whole, which will never come again. I'm sure this will definitely come very close, I'm just not going to be butthurt if the story isn't *as good* as the first 3. All I want is a good game, and a good story.
Here's a good example: Despite how good Star Wars: The Force Awakens is, it's not going to overthrow what is, and always will be the epic, and classic *"Original Star Wars Trilogy," but it's still a great movie.

It sees they have made the same mistake as the original mass effect trilogy. Given the Normandy and this ship tardis effect. Big on the inside and smaller on the outside. The sense of scale is so off. I remember walking around the normandy and then looking at it from outside when it was docked and thinking none of this can fit inside.
Ok now I'm concerned about something. In the game she's wearing a helmet but in the cutscenes it's off. Please tell me you can choose wheather or not your helmets show up in cutscenes?! What's the point of cool helmets if u can't appreciate them in cinematic form?
yes, the game have option like in old ME about hide helmet automatically or not and keep it forever (except some scenes/moment of course)
It took more than half the video to actually get the Nomad. And even then they spend at most 5 minutes actually driving it. -_-
game looks great, no doubt i'm gonna put over 100 hours on it, my only concern with the game is it looks like we are gonna be scanning A LOT. and that might get old
scan is most for side missions. no specific obligation for the whole game, you can just scan nothing (except some obligate scan)

I never played a Mass Effect game before. Can someone fill me in on some core elements/ features/gameplay?

Humanity travels to another galaxy. Aliens happen. Banging said aliens happen. As for gameplay, there's different classes to use during combat. You can change your class whenever you like (which I find weird but whatever). Biotics is basically Mass Effect's version of the Force, only cooler. Outside of combat, dialogue options vary during conversations, similar to that of Fallout, but more detailed. "Interrupts" occur in certain conditions, allowing the character to do or not do something in dialogue, such as disarming someone or not.

yes :D, the game is full of moment like that.. you can watch others video. at the beginning when ryder wake up and the doc analyze her/him... gravity is lost, then they fall... the doc and ryder say "yeah, we alright" , at this exact moment, look at the face expression of the asari doc XD
also, when the Kett boss appear for first time (you cant miss him), keep an eyes on him, his expression are soo cute, he look very very sad :D

So much hand holding and preplanned attacks / events. Looks great though graphically. Just playing a movie rather then a game world.

I love fallout but if we're going to compare I would rather look at these animations and character models. Although Fallout does have a certain amount of detail that they allow through CC to be made. Other than that honestly Mass Effect animations and character (females) models aren't as bad as you people claim it to be

I'm curious how the mass effect drama turns out. COD Infinite warfare was destroyed and turned out to be an excellent campaign. Titanfall 2 is bettter though.
Infinite Warfare has the worst campaign of the entire franchise, by a mile. The only thing I've played that is worse is Medal of Honor Warfighter.

I can overlook the "sameness" with the Trilogy or the shallow, empty and cringy dialogue, but I can't easily get over squadmates teleporting all over the place or walking where they shouldn't be supposed to walk.
Gonna install The Witcher 3 to get my fix and vent my frustrations until MEA arrives. Hopefully Bioware used these days to fix whatever can be fixed. I love the series, but this looks to be the lowest of them all, and it's supposed to kickstart a "new beginning".
