The Delta squad IS CANON as they appeared in the clone wars.
And in the Novels, but i guess that would not make it canon.
Actually they are canon but this game isn't anymore non of the old star wars games are
Season 3 Episode 14 “Witches of the Mist” is where this wiki says they appear
Had the making of this game the animators and devs did swat courses hand had a trainer actually go over tactics and what have you that's why the door breaches look so good.
Really? That's dope!
Just wanted to mention. This game was released several years prior to the creation of TCW, so don't expect to see characters like Rex since Rex was created years after this game came out.

'Vode An' (The Main Menu theme) Shall remain to be one of my favourite Star Wars themes simply because it is sung in the Mandalorian language
My favorite is actually Rage of the Shadow Warriors from this game. Vode An is still up there though
@Surges Have you heard of Samuel Kim? Highly recommend his music channel, if you haven't seen it before:

If the Mandalorian NEVER uses Vode An at any point I will be furious...
@@Fordo007 They may say the phrase "Vode An" (Brothers All) as it's a Mandalorian battle cry, but the song Vode An is a Battle Chant and Epic that tells of the Mandalorians assaulting the planet Coruscant in extreme ancient times
It was also the first official use of Mando'a, and then basically created from scratch by Karen Traviss for the novels.

A few quick little tips for this absolute gem of a game:
- Be strategic about assigning spots for your team and playing in general! If the enemy is upclose right next to you, a grenade position is not useful at all for example. And do not forget to *remove them from a position if it is no longer useful* because they don't automatically leave their posts unless you get really far away.
- The formations can be quite useful, for example when you "Form up" or whatever it is called your squad stays right next to you so you can just slowly advance. "Seek and Destroy" makes them run around the map ahead of you, which is good in general but in intense encounters it can make them die far away from you.
- All special assignments (apart from the equipment specific position stuff like sniper and grenade) can also be done by yourself! You are perfectly free to just jump into a turret yourself or hack or destroy a door yourself. There are some situations where quickly activating a thing yourself in the heat of battle is better than sending a teammate who might die because the AI is a bit slower than the player can be. Though the time required to do a task is exactly the same for you and your squad, despite the fact that your team is supposed to have "specialists" for each job.
- Headshots do bonus damage. The battle droids have a funny "shoot around headless" when you pop off their head. Super battle droids have armor over their "heads" and I think if you remove the armor and shoot their eye they also take extra damage.
- Don't be afraid to use your melee blade or switch to your pistol for trash mobs to conserve ammo. There is also a fun strategy for super battle droids where you circle around them faster than they can turn and continusously stab them to death. :P
"get that health! stop getting that health! get that health! nah actually don't get that health!" - "you alright boss?" - "why are you not getting that health!"
Your tactics confuse and frighten me sir
@@G59forlife. Your tactics are strange and cunning... But mostly strange.
Little tip for ya: the squad's icons show up green when they're at full health and will turn yellow, orange and red as their health gets lower and make sure to keep them alive as much as possible by giving them the right orders at the right time. D-pad allows you to change their combat tactics like securing a room and regrouping and such. Special attachement ammo is vital for taking out tougher enemies and you wasted the sniper ammo on regular enemies

Oh man, you gotta go back and finish knights of the old republic one day. Idk if itd be the best game to put on youtube, but seriously it has such a good story
Btw, you can order squad mates to do anything that you can do, such as reviving other squdmates, and you can also do anything that you can order them to do, like setting charges or using turrets
Well, we can hope he learns that before the hangar battle on the frigate atleast.
@@Robbini0 Ohhhhhh boy...
Tip: When you see sniper/grenade posts for your squad, you'll probably need them. In the first fight with the Geonosian Elite (laser guys) there were three such spots. If you're low on ammo and there's not much around, always go for the squad revive.
B2 battle droid stabbing simulator time.
Fun fact is that the animators for this game were put through room clearing and door breaching training by retired navy seals so that they could animate the squad movements accurately. "I wonder why they never made a sequel."
*sees they call mags "clips"*
"Ah, that's why."
/s
It's not bullets, so the name is whatever you decide it is.
@@ClockworkAnomaly Yeah but no one says, I filled him with five detachable heat sinks.
@orkAnomaly I mean, despite the danger of getting nerd emoji'd, bullets has nothing to do with it. Magazine = has a spring or other mechanism to feed the munitions, clip = no spring or other feeding mechanism; merely holds the individual munitions together. In SW lore, the guns fire plasma bolts using a form of gas as ammo, and they're called "cartridges", so neither "clip" nor "magazine" would be *technically* correct, but clip is more accurate than magazine, as presumably the cartridges are basically just a tank to contain the gas, with no feeding mechanism built into them. (The pump or whatever would presumably be in the weapon itself.)
I am so happy you're playing this game! By far the most immersive Star Wars experience. Also - the sniper ammo is SO rare in this game! use it sparingly :D
You can order your squad to hold position or follow you as well. As it is you've had them in attack mode, which means they just push ahead.
Good, you're learning faster than most. You're doing a good job keeping those B2s stunned, but they have some weak points you haven't found yet. Try looking at where their weapons are attached. The most important thing this game fails to tutorialize is that the "form up" formation is the most stable and should be relied on 80% of the time. You access the submenu by holding down the command button, A by default. You can rebind every single control except weapon selection/formations in the menu you were looking in when you forgot how to do that
I can't wait for him to fight trandoshans, one of the most painful enemies in the game when you play for the first time. I miss playing this game
Also the voice actor for Scorch is the same actor who voices GST Buck in Halo ODST
Just did a quick Google, Nathan Fillion is not Scorch although that'd be so sick
@@pjc.visuals I swear I remember seeing Nathan Fillion being credited. Buck and Scorch sounds basically the same. Im probably wrong though if Google doesn’t show him being a VA for this game.
This is serious nostalgia, spent hours playing this back in the day. You gotta keep playing it, there’s some great action throughout the rest of the game. And some interesting cameos.
I’m so excited for this. It’s going to be amazing
Reminder that it was actually George who suggested to give the commandos unique appearances and that matched their personalities. Also, yes, the visor HUD was inspired by Metroid prime
This would be a solid game to re-skin and released for vr
While it might *technically* not be completely canon, the characters are! They show up in the Clone Wars animated show!
Delta and Omega squads are my favorite Commando squads in fiction, 100%.
hey, do you know white dwarf? its the official Games workshop warhammer magazin and in the one from this month is a steam code for 12 free warhammer computer games (including some of the best, for example: dawn of war, space marine, Vermintide)
Correct. I must still get my copy.

yes
Yeah I doubt this is legit due to all of the grammatical errors
I mean you can get free trials of all the dawn of war series on steam i do believe at least for the first game/expansions.
so happy to see people still enjoying this gem. star wars needs more games/movies focusing on the soldiers
Love it so far. One bit of advice I'll tell you is that you're gonna have a hard time if you don't tell your squad to use the sniper and grenade emplacements more often than you were. GLHF!
Oh my god kotor was the gaming cornerstone of my childhood
It influenced my love for star wars and rpgs
Oh dude you’re gonna be in for a GREAT time with this one! As Anakin would say “This is where the fun begins”
May we all rise for the childhood game of the year. I still have my original physical PC copy from way back in the day. Can't wait to see him play the game a lot of us grew up on!
He should totally play The Force Unleashed I and II !
I remember playing this like 4/5 years ago, stoked to see Luke play it
I gotta be honest you can tell it's your first time playing but the fact you seem to enjoy it so much is great. I went back and played this on normal then hard and the fact your ai team is better than most now adays is sad almost 15 years later. Hope you have fun
this is one of my favorites all time ever games, yes it's old, and time hasn't being nice to it, but it's so fun once you get into it, and so well made at that time that will have an special place in my heart forever
Just it's good to remember to try and use your squad mates for their specialty as they are better at their particular task and will perform it quicker than other squad mates, eg. Scorch for breaching an explosives, sev for sniping and fixer for splicing
There is a "Making of" video that actually shows the designers being taught basic breaching by a military advisor that I think you'd get a kick out of watching.
Some tips, pay attention to the positions you can select. The AI isn't the greatest at selecting the most appropriate squadmate for the job. Also, the squad commands are super useful to keep them alive. The most useful command is getting them to revive each other when they go down. With some of the lower level enemies when in close quarters, the gauntlet blade is your best friend. Cuts down on the ammo expenditure and can usually instakill.
Replayed it recently myself. Brilliant
Bro what!!!
This actually made my day better lol
I grew up with this game when I was young, here is some suggestions, if you can put your Troopers into a position of some sort, do it.
if you see your soldiers having a red cross, you can revive them or ordered your squad to do so.
and you can focus your squad to attack one enemy by highlighting the target.
and again if you see a sniper precision, grenade position, any position at all, put your squat in there.
Oh my, I can't believe you've started playing through one of my favourite old games!
More than that - it was just today when I was discussing diegetic interfaces in games, and realistic helmets (and helmet HUDs) with my friend, and remembered about SW:RC and recommended this game to my friend.
BTW, he is a massive fan of Metro series, which I just finished watching on your channel lately.
Too bad he doesn't speak English, or I'd recommend your channel to him too.
When he said he’s a big Star Wars fan I just cheered!
YEEEEEES I've been waiting for this O_O !!!
Ooooh youre in for a treat, this is my favorite game of all time
I remember when I was little, I didnt have the full game so I played the demo over and over. Loved it
Luke: You run out of ammo quickly in this game.
Also Luke: *Empties entire mag into single battle droid*
In all seriousness though, it's awesome that you played this game, easily one of the best, if not the single best Star Wars game out there. Definitely the best fps.
I was thinking about buying this and your videos convinced me to get it and I just subscribed
Hey Luke,
As a veteran SW republic commando player. try paying attention to where you locate your units, allocating them to the right positions (and automatically telling them to use certain weapons) can be key to defeating difficult enemies like the Genosian elites(also don't forget to tell them they are allowed to abandon the post again).
Other than that love the gameplay and I'm looking forward to more of your content
I have this game for pc and its beens so long since I've played it. very nice seeing Luke enjoying it just as much as i did. can't wait to get a pc again to play this. maybe even get some visual mods to make it look a bit more updated
I would genuinely recommend you play this game on pc with just a widescreen fix mod because this game really doesnt look THIS bad
The soundtrack never fails to give me goosebumps
Love watching your vids
You have now been forgiven finally Republic Commando playthrough thank you man
Man that music i just love it havent heard it in years man i hope they made more off this game.
Quite honestly my favorite Star Wars game, and the books are Phenomenal and an excellent insight into Mandalorian and Clone culture, as well as the thoughts and stories of small, but wonderful characters.
The Story of Etain Tur-Mukan and Darman Skirata is amazing and tragic.
And the fact that the last book ends with [SPOILERS]! You can only believe things ultimately turned out for the better outside the series.
Mando'a Laar in this game one of my favorite details
I used to love this game as a kid. Still holds up today
Jate bora OriginalHuman, jate bora!
This guy getting excited at the visor wipe was relatable af
This is one of the absolute best and most underrated Star Wars games.
If they did a remake of this game I'd be so happy!
I love that you were also a Commando and have a Similar accent to 35 💯💯 it gives the Gameplay more Authenticity in my opinion haha!!
I use to love modding this game as a kid. Very nostalgic!
Melee everything bro, most things die in one stab. Constantly order them to positions, and always heal when you have a chance. Mark tough enemies to see their health. You can plant explosives yourself which is usually the best way of doing it. Assign your squad to sniping, grenade, and turret positions and plant the explosives yourself.
Great book series as well!
have your squad mates take positions and also tell them to force their fire on the Elite enemies elite enemies like super battle droid and the bug elite can be a pain and take alot of ammo to take them out. But if you tell your squad to force fire taking them down is alot more easier. And also your guy do throw grenades and the genades type them throw depends on the type of enemy if it is a droid them will throw droid poppers those electric grenades. And them will go to the bacta machine to get health back and getting squad mates and you up without you telling them but that only happens when out of combat
Star Wars republic commandos is hands down one of my favorite Star Wars games
The best advise I could give for this game is that squad management is vital. In difficult fights I would "alternate" squad healing. The more members in you squad remain alive the more firepower you have in total.
One thing that I love about Republic Commando is on the higher difficulties, your squad is better and tanker than you. You really have to rely on them because it takes like 5 shots from a B1 and you're downed.
"Your marksmanship is an inspiration to us all, Sir!" Man.... this game....
While everyone else was playing Halo, I was playing this instead. It's great to see someone try it out for the first time. Still hoping for a sequel.
It's quite frankly very cannon
it even has books written after it(I read all of them) the book names are: true colours, triple zero, order 66 and then the story resumes in the imperial commando books
Yesss finally star war republic commando time
I Too Am A Huge STAH WUZZ Fan
Good Content, New Sub
Everything you can tell your squad to do except for taking grenade/sniping/anti armor positions you can do yourself. You can use the turrets.
Save your sniper ammo for SBDs and Elites. ALWAYS assign your squad to sniper positions unless your planting a bomb on a droid dispenser because they will try to shoot it through you and kill you.
Its usually easier to assign them to sniper and blow stuff up yourself, they have unlimited ammo, you don't.
Pro tip: to refill your ammo/grenades, pause the game and press Y Button, Y Button, X Button, Down (D-pad), Right Trigger, Left Trigger, Right Trigger, Up (D-pad). If done correctly, you will hear the sound of a blaster being fired.
This whole time im watching this im just constantly thinking "oh boy. He's gonna have a heart attack when he finds out how little ammo there is laying around in the assault ship or on Kashyyk." Lol i have beaten this game at least 10 times. Never gets old either.
You can choose between blowing doors up, going sneaky sneaky or doing it yourself, pretty cool for a game this old
Thanks originel human thanks for bringing me back the memory of the I forgot the name of it thanks
This is the second time you’ve had trouble with “rendezvous” and it’s made me laugh equally as much both times
3:09 Captain Rex didn't exist back then lol. The coolest troopers were the commandos, the arc troopers and that one guy in the battle of Coruscant saying: "we need reinforcements in Sector 4"
damn I missed out not knowing that he played this! this is literally one of my favorite star wars games next to KOTOR!
YEEEEES. God have i wanted this.
Also about the graphics, they may be polygonal and basic, but they have SO MUCH more style than what you get with current games.
Just look at jedi fallen order, it's graphics are awesome, but you tend to see the planets as they are, without added bundles. And it's still one of the best nowadays in that category.
THe feel you have on each mission changes here and it looks so perfect everytime. If you can get passed the age, it is plain out awesome.
A tip I'd give is you can manually do slices & bomb planting, it speeds it up and saves you ammo you use covering the other delta's
Hell yaaaaa 😆😆 best game in starwars..also after watching the video.. when fighting those elites, they'll drop their firearms so you can use them as well.. the only one you can't grab are the super battle droid, lol
Clone commandos are pretty versatile, but choosing the right specialist for the job makes it easier (faster) to complete it, or more effective.
And I've noticed that you are ordering anyone but 07 (the sniper of the team) to take sniping positions, placing bombs to anyone (while you have a dedicated delomitions specialist (62)) and so on.
I don't really know about x-box version, but on PC you could totally choose which of your subordinates to send to which task.
Also, since you, guys, are so versatile, you can even do all those tasks (like placing explosives, hacking computer terminals, etc.) yourself, if you prefer so.
