    Windu's purple boys are my favorite of these lesser known units. What a way to honor their general than to color their armor the same as his lightsaber.
    And Rip to the Lancer boys. Lancers in combat are super cool, but not very effective when the enemy has guns, tanks, starfighters, and artillery. Still brave badasses, if given the worst combat role in the GAR.

    I know some units have to get pasted to establish stakes & power-levels, but I kinda feel for the troops who have only the distinction of getting wiped out.

      Real-life soldiers know they may die & must make peace with that. Fictional soldiers can't all have back-stories, but sometimes I am reminded that many are written for the purpose of being killed... it makes me want to ensure any characters I write into existance have an ultimately good purpose for being & dying, not merely to establish or raise stakes. To make the world better for it, not worse. Call it Writer-Responsability.

      @@dhaburuk6494But there are times when characters must be sacrificed in order to establish stakes. In my first book a slew of unnamed characters die in a massive battle scene followed by 2 very close friends to the main character who are named and have backstories to establish that no one is safe in my book.

    • @dhaburuk6494
      @dhaburuk6494 Před 8 měsíci

      @@SeviathTheHumanDrago The battle serves a structural purpose for the story, but what about moral purpose? Can I see this battle as cautioning against war by way of its costs, or is it there only to set the stage & evidence the setting to the audience? This is what I mean by Writer-Responsability, making sure that nothing makes it into my final drafts without two-fold purpose, as if to understand the sacrifice of these fictional characters and respect the implied details of their lives.
      I havent completely understood how to up-hold this standard I've burdened myself with... but I hesitate to assume that an audience would forgive a lack of moral integrity for the convenience of the story or merely for the sake of my laziness.

Part of the entire reason why militaries around the world have their own Marines (ie the United States Marine Corps or Royal Marine Corps) is that there is a necessity for troops specifically trained for ship to ship fighting, boarding actions, amphibious operations, and use as expeditionary forces.

    I found out about the Clone Shadow Troopers because me and my brothers received the action figures from Target one Christmas.
    Clone troopers were my favorite action figures back in the Episode III days, and I loved the feeling of seeing a toy of something completely original, and then having a little backstory on the back of the card so that you had an idea of what the Shadow Troopers were.
    It's a damn shame that Star Wars kids today don't get to have that kind of experience with new types of Stormtroopers or New Republic trooper action figures (because the Sequels didn't have anything work making toys out of, and Disney made sure there was nothing to make figures out of, except Finn, Poe, Rey, Kylo and First Order Stormtroopers)

    I would take the Lego appearance of the legends 187th with a grain of salt. Both the canon 187th and the legends 187th got merchandise in the same year (2022). If I had to guess why Lego chose the legends version over the canon version (they probably looked up mace windu’s clone trooper on google and found that most sources point to the old version since the canon version is still relatively new).
    Bonus: it would probably be safe to assume commander ponds and lightning squadron in canon are part of the 187th instead of the 91st reconnaissance corps since the new 187th is based on commander ponds’s design.
