This is NOT a promotional video. I pay for all of my flights and hotels (and I always tell you how much!) so I can be as honest and impartial as possible. I do not receive any special treatment that wouldn’t otherwise be publicly accessible, in fact, the hotels and airlines have no idea about my visit and that's the way I like it!
#asiana #businessclass #tripreport
Las Vegas, in addition to being a tourist destination both for Americans and some international travelers, also plays host to a quite a few business conferences and trade shows each year. Oh, and it’s a “Hub” for Southwest Airlines, even though Southwest isn’t fully on the hub and spoke model like American, Delta, and United. So quite a few Southwest Passengers, especially those transiting between the West Coast and more Eastern parts of the country will change planes there.
Wonder if it computes with Kevin. 🤔
My brain understands that, but still cannot grasp how their airport numbers fit into global numbers lol.
That London city approach though *chef's kiss*
As a Londoner for over 30 years, you wouldn't want to kiss most of it when close up!
@@nezbrun872 ahah, true! 😂
Thanks for watching 🩴
" I think the walnut may have escape from its cookie." Loved it!
😉
Well, those Trents sound incredible! Properly maximum thrust due to bad weather to minimize the runway usage.
Stop distance is increased in wet runway conditions, therefore higher Take off thrust settings applied to reduce take off distance. In other words to get more braking distance in case of an aborted take off
@@JO-nh6mo Also will be fully loaded with fuel for the long distance. Also note it spooled up with the brakes on, definitely an indication of limited runway for the weight combined with a/c performance.
Appreciate all of the answers! I Suppose I just haven't taken off in rainy conditions as often as I thought!
What an epic video which covers the meticulousness of Asiana Airlines' premium services on a long-haul flight as well as the stunning London's view as the plane approached LHR!!! You are lucky to be onboard one of the last Asiana's flights.
Thanks for watching 🩴
That London approach was simply stunning!
Sure was!
The reason the takeoff was so much louder is most likely because the power setting is at TO/GA, on most A350 flights they're at FLEX takeoff config which is not full power and makes a huge difference in engine noise.
Thanks for sharing ✈️
long flight fully loaded and the weather so require max power? 🤔
Beautiful video, loved the coral coloured engine, and the views coming in over London gave me goosebumps! 😍
Loved that engine!
The engine spool up was definitely more intense than it normally is. Still one of the best sounding engines out there. Great video thanks for sharing.
Agreed!
The views of London are stunning. Thanks for including all of it! Great video!
Thanks very much 🙏🏻
Love your videos Kevin! I appreciate the honest reviews.
Thanks very much 🙏🏻
Food looks outstanding!! Wine list is very lacking tho. Great video, love your content.
Thanks very much 🙏🏻
Asiana was my favorite airline to Asia for many years. Far ahead of Singapore, Cathay and others. Once I left the Star Alliance I truly missed them. It will be very unfortunate when they merge with Korean, which I find way more impersonal. I guess I won’t be flying any Korean carriers going forward. Thanks for the great, great video. Really well done as always, Kevin. You just get better and better sir!
Appreciate that!
Beautiful! Well done, Kevin!
Thanks very much 🙏🏻
Beautifully filmed video. Loved the stunning views, especially the approach and landing at LHR at night. Loved the peaceful soundtrack too!
Thanks very much 🙏🏻
Great trip report Kevin! The night approach into LHR is amazing! Love watching your videos. Greetings from Canada.
Thanks very much 🙏🏻
Hi Kevin the spool up sounds are amplified by the wet runway standing water being ingested into the engines. This amplified sound can be heard inside and outside in these conditions. This would be one of your best videos Kevin. Simply stunning.
Thanks for sharing ✈️
I had that same approach into Heathrow a few days ago during the early evening and my eyes were glued to the window. We flew over the City though, a little more west from your approach, so I couldn't see the skyscrapers so well, but the rest was amazing!
Thanks very much 🙏🏻
I agree about Terminal 2. It has not yet been "fully realized" compared to Terminal 1, which has seen two decades more of history.
I imagine it'll just get bigger and blander as it expands. Really one of the few airports out there where the largest carrier uses the "less nice" terminal.
Incredible London approach and the piano accompaniment was fantastic.
Thanks very much 🙏🏻
That's a great business class experience! Thanks for the info + video!
Thanks for watching 🩴
The views, the food and the music, wow you nailed it 👏👏👏 thanks 👍
Thanks very much 🙏🏻
glad to see another video from you cant believe am this early manifesting this travelling experience
Well... I do post twice a week lol Thanks for watching 🩴
Pilots will "jam" the power on wet take-offs as a way of dispersing water from the engine. They do a longer "warm-up" run in the winter often to get rid of ice build-up.
They just press the TO/GA button and the acceleration is performed automatically in Boeing or Airbus.
Thanks for that explination- makes sense!
@@kikeeseesel There's not TO/GA button in the Airbus - TO/GA thrust is selected by the pushing the thrust levers to the TO/GA detent instead of the FLEX detent.
Ace content! Thank you Kevin!
Thanks very much 🙏🏻
Grrreat review, the sun shining on the engine and some of the food shots were superb!
Agreed about the engine!
Really enjoyed watching this one Kevin,,,,,,peace and happiness on your travels 😊😊😊😊
Thanks very much 🙏🏻
Watching the sunset over the clouds and the descending to LHR, OMG I just fxxking love flying. I think moments like these are also for many other avgeeks that why they love flying this so much. Love your work as always ❤
I got stuck in a center section seat for the first time ever today and I can tell you- ah it was painful not to be able to watch the beautiful approach!
Awesome video great commentary. Beautifully executed photography
Thanks very much 🙏🏻
Incredible approach to London. Thanks,
Thanks for watching 🩴
You, my friend are the master creator of these airplane videos. I love your work and I love your videos. Thank you so much.
Appreciate that!
What an incredibly long flight….but OMG….THE VIEWS!!! 🤩 Stunning images, for the first time I caught myself missing parts of your narration! Thank you for the beautiful review 🙏🏼🌄🌅
Haha the views are definitly what I'd be going for as well! Wait until my JL F video on June 6, those views are even better!
@@tfft 😳
Extremely informative and an ease to watch
Appreciate that!
What A Beautiful Air Craft.Great Video And Info
Thanks for watching 🩴
Really, really loved your music choice - especially for the approach to London. Beautiful.
Thanks very much 🙏🏻
I'm impressed with Asiana Airlines regardless which class I'm in There one of the greatest airlines in the world.
Thanks for watching 🩴
Thanks for sharing ,I must book an Asiana flight before the merger with Korean Air
Enjoy your trip 🗺️
FWIW regarding your 15 hours flight, almost all of the TYO-LHR flights are going east-bound at the moment due to the Russian airspace issues, taking the polar route over Alaska and Greenland, while LHR-TYO take the Caspian route. Both are 15+ hours as a result, and great for that proper F experience!
When the long runway at HND was closed for a week at the beginning of the year, the JAL TYO-LHR had to stop in Nagoya or Narita to take on enough fuel for the trip: it couldn't take off on the shorter runways fully loaded.
Ah interesting! Didn't know about the January technical stops.
Those views 🥰 Even London looked incredible 🥰
Sure did!
Thank you for the spectacular views.
Thanks for watching 🩴
Asiana is one of the airlines i have never flown with, in over 12 years of travel to Asia. This business class product looks amazing, especially for such a long flight. I wonder if their economy on the a350 holds up so well... Anyway, welcome to my city!
Well that explains the handle! haha Thanks for watching 🩴
Kevin what a charming video….thank you 🙏
Thanks very much 🙏🏻
One of your most enjoyable videos ... probably because you yourself had a good time on board.
Appreciate that!
Thank you for the beautiful montages - the one of the mountains (Caucasus I guess?) and London. I see we appreciate the same things :)
There’s (almost) nothing better!
Beautiful sunset views
Sure were!
Aloha from Hawaii and I can attest Hawaii people take multiple trips a year to the 9th island LAS VEGAS, mystery solved!
When I was looking at how many wide body flights there were to LAS (hardly any) I was shocked to see one of the daily WBs was a HA A330! haha. I Suppose you're right!
I would not have been pleased with the surly service. And I LOVE the background music/piano...perfection.
Thanks very much 🙏🏻
That is a beautiful London landing
Sure was!
Nice 😊 Some good eats on that flight for sure 🎉
Sure was!
I flew a daytime flight from Sydney to Seoul on Asiana on an A350 a few weeks ago and it was blinds down the whole way as well. I did enjoy the Asiana lounge at Incheon for an extended time before my flight back and really enjoyed it although I agree that the food choice was fairly limited. A few more choices and some cakes and pastries could make it much better.
Thanks for sharing ✈️
I flew last year LOT from ICN and the flight was at 11am, so we had lunch by noon and they dimmed cabin by 1pm and it was 13hours trip. I think airlines are doing this to impose on passengers to sleep so the cabin crew can rest
For some (mostly EU and NA carriers) I could understand this... but most East Asian carriers are quite active regardless. Thanks for watching 🩴
It's a good review! - from Korea
Thanks very much 🙏🏻
Great video Kevin. I don't think I'll be able to fly asiana before they merge with Korean air. So thank you for taking us along.
Thanks for watching 🩴
S tier content. Honestly I want some Flip Flops as merch
I'm waiting for Havaianas to call haha.
Yeah, Ive flown both KE and OZ and I have never found the cabin crew to be sweet , gushy, warm and fuzzy. As you said, maybe its just how they are. I believe they are more focused on efficiency, poise and presentation, of which they are very good at. Being retired cabin crew, I tend to focus on watching their service flow, body language and eye contact. It's interesting to see the differences from nationality to nationality. Having said that, I would never hesitate to fly both Korean carriers again.
Thanks for sharing ✈️
I've always heard that Korean beer tastes like CASS and was shocked to see you were actually drinking it!
Great job again Kev!
U da man, yet again! 🏆🍺
Thanks very much 🙏🏻
5:25 I like how the A350 flashing lights matches with the Beat 😁
Whether it's intentionally or not, I always enjoy your Trip Reports and the effort you put into the videos!
Thanks very much 🙏🏻
I’m jealous! I always wanted to fly Asiana!🤩
Still have a bit of time!
Great video as always Kevin. Where’d you end up staying in London? I hope it was the Pan Pacific, and, if it wasn’t, you need to go!
I was at the Hyatt Regency in Stratford.
Wait, you want to outlaw kimchee? Ha ha ha. Seriously another great video, keep them coming!!
Shhhh
I like Asiana very much - flew economy on them a couple of weeks ago from ICN to Manila; a year or so ago I took them business to Almaty. Both experiences were very good (although I agree with you about the lounges - food not great). I too worry about the impact the merger will have, on quality and prices. Thanks for another really good report.
Thanks for sharing ✈️
long haul flights are pretty standard like that. take off meal, sleep, meal, land..
Sure...but I'm not sure I said it was otherwise? lol
Wow I was just thinking about this exact route and airline and class for my 2026 trip. I know I am very early in my planning as I have already planned my trips for 2024 and 2025. great video!
Likely won’t exist in 2026 lol
@@tfft true I just need to find any ICN>LHR leg with F or J seats and I’ll be okay
The view of the engine at around the 22:00 mark was incredible!!
Agreed!
I guess at this stage the Asiana crew may be a bit grumpy wondering where they will sit in seniority when the merger goes through - great video as always Kevin
Thank You ✈️
Thanks for watching 🩴
당신의 리뷰는 좋다 THANK YOU
Thanks very much 🙏🏻
Superb London night landing footage. 👌
Thanks very much 🙏🏻
19:50 that parallel flight looks beautiful
Yess!
Just before you said you've never seen an A350 you didn't like, I also was genuinely thinking, "Damn, the A350 looms slick". Mind reader!
Great minds think alike! haha
Those engine views ❤
Yess!
Shutting window blinds: I was told the same on EVA from BKK to LHR. They asked (or forced) me to shut them at 3 pm after lunch. I refused.
Yeah EVA will do this on their 787s as well and will lock control of it.
Beautiful trip report. The last rays of light, and approach to Heathrow, were stunning. What is the music composition at the of your report? Beautiful.
All tracks are listed in the description. Thanks for watching 🩴
Stunning views and content!! Thank You Kevin
Thanks very much 🙏🏻
That engine spool up!
Live for it!
I remember you mentioned in a trip report a long time ago that filming the crew was not your style. Times has changed it seems😅 Nice video as always Kevin!
Filming crew interactions isn't my style- the 'crew in passing' shots have appeared at times... likely more noticable now since when I started the channel everyone was wearing masks lol.
I'm flying economy from Heathrow to Incheon soon, you should cover that!
15 hours in economy? I’ll let you enjoy that one on your own 😉
LHR city approach was ab fab, m8. ✈
Thanks for watching 🩴
If you watch nothing else in this video watch the London Heathrow approach. Absolutely magnificent.
Thanks very much 🙏🏻
I’ve accidentally become a loyal Asiana customer since 2022 as they were always either the most affordable or convenient option for my surprisingly frequent East Asia trips recently. They are a super solid and reliable option. Their catering out of Seoul might just be the best economy catering I’ve ever had. Their catering partner (which I believe is LSG) managed to pull off pesto pasta and juicy creamy chicken on a plane. For an economy meal... I thought I’d win the lottery first. It’s therefore a shame they might disappear soon, but I’ve heard good things about Korean Air, so all hope isn’t lost. But Asiana defiantly must step up their entertainment offering as long as they’re still operating, because it’s sparse af.
Final note, I think the different spool up sound at takeoff might have to do with the engine being able to perform better with the higher density and moist air when it rains, or just the general acoustics in such weather. A350 takeoff in the rain is music to my ears 😊
Thanks for sharing ✈️
That landing clip was magnificent! What camera and window mount did you use?
All of my videos are filmed on iPhones. My mount is a mix of 6 different parts to get it to ‘behave’ as I want, but the foundation is a standard GoPro mount.
Come for the flight review, but stay for the gorgeous views of the mountains and London at night. Thanks!
Appreciate that!
Because it was a long haul flight they had a surplus amount of fuel on board the take off was most likely in TOGA mode hence the sound of the engines blaring at full throttle to get airborne.
Thanks for sharing ✈️
Vegas is a fairly major hub for Spirit Airlines, Frontier, and Southwest too. So that boosts their passenger numbers on top of people organically flying to the city.
To consider that 98% of the aircraft there are narrowbody, it's just a logistical feat I never thought I'd be imagining for there.
Its called max thrust short runway
Thanks for sharing ✈️
As always a thorough high quality, reveiw thank you ! One comment on the price of the flight, as I am not sure how many of your veiwers have 72,500 Asiana points, it would be very useful to post a comparable fare price for reference ? Thanks and keep up the quality work !
I don’t bother mentioning things like that simply because it’s such a wide range. That flight one way could be anywhere from $1500-$3800 in business depending on the time of year.
It’s really impressive how modern Incheon feels despite being over 20 years old at this point. Like look at TPE terminal 2, which is a year older, and it’s night and day.
I guess Korea got the airport luck and Taiwan got the airline luck.
I’ll take the airlines lol
I was shocked when you mentioned stats about LAS pushing out all those pax. I’m crew at Southwest and our terminal is definitely busy and I’m not sure what the other terminals look like but it’s wild 57 million pax went through there. Our terminal is so crowded, I wish they would expand or renovate. It’s so cramped and dingy.
I'll be landing there with y'all next month... so I suppose I'll see for myself!
06:05 I love it when airlines reflect their culture in their uniforms, but I feel those parasols would be a bit too much to get down the aisle, even in a whalebird.
I don’t think the cosplayers work for the airline. It’s traditional Korean attire for display purposes
Yeah, not sure who the operator of the terminal is... wouldn't be surprised if it was sanctioned by the city.
@@firetruckenthusiast8596 Oh dear... 🤣
Vídeo top !!!!!!
Thanks!
That's MAX trust the pilot's applying Kevin, given how long your flight was therefore, takeoff weight was on or near MAX (Assuming flight was full'ish)
Thanks for watching 🩴
If you know our tiny Vegas airport parking garage is always full and the news need to always tell people to not park, and we sold out every night with 4K rooms, then you won't be surprise how many people crowded in, with the new yearly F1 race scheduled is not helping 😮💨
Thanks for sharing ✈️
About engine thrust/noise: do you recall any AC switch off before take off? For long/heavy flight, packs off is preferred during TO -> higher N1, better perf, save fuel
Like completely off? No- and I'm a bit ocd about airflow so I think I'd notice it.
Have you went over to the SilverKris lounge in ICN? I heard good things.
I haven't been. My lounge hopping ambitions on transits are often met with pure exhaustion haha.
From one Jersey guy to another, great job. I am always curious. Wonder if you will ever travel to South America? I was an exchange student in Buenos Aires in 1972. The Argentines are wonderful people. Ditto, Brazilians. Maybe your work keeps you from going there but would be interesting.
I have some South America content on the channel already- around 10 videos. I also have spent quite a bit of time in BsAs over the years. Will have stops in SA again later this year and next. Thanks for watching 🩴
My wife flew with asiana airlines last on a business class…. She was so disappointed with the service
Thanks for sharing ✈️
Daymm did I see that correctly 😳 was that some gold leaf on the deserts as well as the beef dish.
Sure was.
Las Vegas is an adult playground along with the countless conventions. It is also an airport for connections with Frontier and Southwest. On average 45 million people visit Vegas every year.
My brain understands that, but still cannot grasp how their airport numbers fit into global numbers lol.
I like the fact that you boldly show the cabin crew thus viewers see what their uniforms look like. Did you see their Pilots? If so what do you think of their uniforms?
I’m not sure I’d say a passing glimpse is bold lol
12:20 due weather conditions most probably
Thanks for sharing ✈️
Sometimes, flying can be simply glorious. Really enjoyed the views. The one question I have relates to airline alliances. Back in '04, when I went from 250K miles/year to zero, Asiana was in OneWorld and Korean Air was in Star Alliance. Now, Asiana is in Star Alliance and Korean Air is in Sky Team. After the merger, I assume that Asiana will be brought into Sky Team. Changing alliances can be really expensive and technically challenging. If you have any insight into the alliance musical chairs played by the two main Korean airlines, I'd appreciate the enlightenment. Thanks in advance.
Insight into their past alliance movement? No, I don’t have any knowledge about it.
