Hi StuView!
Just wanted to say a big thank you for your work. I'm a 57 year old, now an expat living in eastern Europe. I'm catching up on a lot of British stuff on CZcams and your channel certainly does take me back to the good old days! I truly believe we enjoyed the best of times. If only I had a time machine!
Many, many thanks. 😁
Thank you so much John! So glad you are enjoying the channel and the memories from the good old days. I really appreciate your kind comments. Lots more nostalgia to come!
54 this year seeing these adverts brings back memories especially the VCR tapes
@@stuviewtv so many memories cheers buddy
Texan one caught me out. Thought it was Chewits ! A couple of others I didn’t remember but got most of them. The good old days when tv adverts were sometimes better than the program they were interrupting 😂
Gregor Fisher in the photo booth, advertising Hamlet cigars is my all time favourite ad.
21/25 I loved the baldy man they were so funny, from the days when you watched the adverts!
I remember back in the early 70s in the playground it was "esso blue, made to make your mouth water".... And no one has mentioned the "Football cards" that dominated the primary school playgrounds of the 70s....flicking them up against the wall to win massive packs of cards .
Great times,innocent minds.
Couldn't remember Hofmeister, but knew the slogan. Same for a few others. Recognised the slogans but couldn't recall the product!
Classic Television 📺 Adverts Quiz: 19/25.🤔 Great Quiz!! I wrote Farmhouse instead of Country Life Butter. I should have got Frosties!!🐯 I had never heard of Cresta or Texan(?!). A real trip down memory lane.
Texen also had A Texen takes time a chewing
Homepride flour voiced by that wonderful actor Joss Auckland and later on by Richard Briers. Hofmeister beer. About as German as fish'n'chips wrapped in newspaper. What a wonderful nostalgic trip down memory lane. Keep 'em coming!
Thanks!
Stu, thought I was doing well 12 for 12 then you dropped Hofmeister on me, don't remember it at ALL.
Still should have my tetley mug in the back of the cupboard somewhere, still drink tetley but on a pint mug now.
Couldn't quite place a few of them. I remember the Cadbury's Flake ad because it was so phallic!
Same some of the ads were on the tip of my tongue I'm 54 they don't make me like they used to but for always in our memories
That was bloody great that Stu.
Many thanks!
Absolutely brilliant I remember Gregor Fisher aka the baldy man in the hamlet adverts and the Cadbury smash aliens 👽 In the Cadbury smash advert really well
Only 15 out of 25 . I remember the scotch tape advert. Because the skeleton really reminded me of Mr Carol my old maths teacher lol.
Only 20 out of 25 😞. Thanks for taking the time to produce these excellent quizzes.
Glad you enjoy them! Many thanks.
I knew everyone of these but only correctly answered 13 out of 25. Just over 50% loved it
I remember the other Jacobs Club add with bar, bar, a club. Using old Beach Boys song. Not many people remember it. Brings bk memories. 👍
Came home after a crappy day at work. Made me feel normal again. Well done.
That's great to hear Keith. Many thanks!
I remember every single slogan and every single product… but not necessarily together! For example I thought the Ronseal slogan was for Cuprinol and that last one for video tapes I couldn’t decide between Maxell and BASF… of course it was Scotch…. A very enjoyable quiz; thank you.
Many thanks!
I *STILL* to this very day, struggle to open opal fruits 😄😄
..not surprised with those hoofs 😂
23/25 Denim and Derek Guyler Video Tape got me but not by much, i had forgotten the name not the product.
Great score.
24/25. I thought Harmony was Sunsilk for some reason.
Did quite well..thanks stu..great channel
Glad you like it. Many thanks!
10/25 scored.
I used to love the Smash advert as a kid and still love it, although now I would not eat that grey, gritty stuff if you paid me! 🤮
Brilliant quiz, a belt of nostalgia between the eyes. Thank you
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks!
Who else had a Fred baking set with mixing bowl head, sieve hat and I think spoon arms?
Me ,in the 70s as a newly wed .It was a jokey thing in my kitchen .The one I had all the bowls fitted into the hat .
@@janielow8719 I think mine did now you come to mention it!
The baldy man ran for two series on itv from naked video spin-off.
We had some Children from Chernoble staying with us in the 90's . Loved the Valdy Man DVD
I got 23. Not sure if I should be proud of that...
Got about 10 😂
Only a couple I didn't get immediately. But mostly were brands I've avidly avoided since or no longer exist. So how well did that marketing go folks?.
Great quiz thanks Stu , brought back some memories 21/25.
Nice score!
21 out of 25 for me.
24/25. The only one I didn't get was Denim
Its the sign of a great ad campaign when you can remember the product 40-50 years later (even as a kid, I remember the beer ads). When ad agencies main role was to promote the product and sell it. Id be hard pushed to know what most adverts are trying to sell now with the advent of 'diversity, inclusion and equality'. I guess the company share holders are happy with reduced earnings?
Was fizzing mad because i thought i had a full score in the bag until that Texan bar! Ive never heard of it!
Still 24 out of 25 is pretty good
Thank you for yr great quizzes
Such fun
I think that was an American chocolate bar. Never heard of it in the UK anyway.
@@marilynkennedy8236 👍🏻
@@enkisdaughter4795 Thank you.
@@marilynkennedy8236 it was a chocolate bar in the UK during the 70s and early 80s
24 / 25 Didn't know the bear ad .Was that shown in Scotland?
I'm not sure to be honest. Great score though!
23/25. Couldn’t remember Harmony hairspray or Denim aftershave, but knew the others. :)
I got Harmony but not Denim. Well done you.
I hate the new CZcams layout, whereby I can *see* this comment with its _spoilers_ even though I’ve not opened comments!
That ad for harmony was "investigated" by That's Life (I think) - they went out to ask people on the street "Is she or isn't she?" without mentioning the product to see what they would say. There were quite a few "interesting" answers and I don't think anyone they asked knew the ad. This was before I saw the ad and so it rather stuck with me
Oo! A quiz not aimed at Americans for a change!👍
Fun fact, the slogan "Opal Fruits, made to make your mouth water" was created by the late great Murray Walker...
Solid 23/25
Great score!
On the bench four wrong can't believe I didn't get texan bars! I lament their disappearance! To this day! Best wishes and take care
I really wish they would bring Texan bars back. Mind you, I'm still chewing on one from 40 years ago now!
@@stuviewtv toffoes. ..go get em Floyd. ..
@jimmyviaductophile.. just did slightly Bobbins now. Remember though that for us girls in 1970/71 ..we just wore BRUT!!🤗
@@kristinejames9812 I was born in 71!
@Jimmyviaduct..Well you were born in 1 of the best decades for music!! 60's/70's were great! Hope you an' your family stay safe with all this pandemic goi👍👍
Bring back Texan bars !!!!
24/25 got the remington one wrong 😭😭😭😭😭😭
17/25.
Got a couple wrong and the were not food related. It's no wonder I look like a member of the Rolly polly dance trope. Remember them.
No, but I remember the Roly Polys.
24. Texan was my downfall.
The Cadbury Flake ads wouldn't be shown in today's world. Suggestive? Wow....."Shouldn't be allowed......" They made my glasses steam up, & I didn't wear glasses back then!
Some of the best adverts in the 80s were from Weetabix. "The Lone Ranger", "Trojan Horse", "English Civil War", "Robin Hood" & "Cubs & Akela" were mini masterpieces, oh, not forgetting "The Steeplechase" which was 2000s.
Much as I really enjoy your quizzes, having only discovered them a few days ago, might I suggest putting a notification in the title (or description) indicating when the content will extremely or exclusively U.K. based?
I actually still enjoyed the video despite not being able to participate, but I was a little disappointed not to have been forewarned that the material would be mostly unknown to me.
Hope I haven't offended as I find your content and production a hefty cut above most quiz and trivia channels.
Please keep them coming.
Thanks MJ. Glad you are enjoying the quizzes! No offence taken at all my friend - it's a good point.
24/25 Didn't get the Texan bar.
Yet another quality quiz. I got 3 wrong. Must do better as my teachers all used to say.
Still a good score that!
How come my memory from then is perfect recall, but i can't remember last Wednesday?
🤣🤣🤣🤣 with u ther 👍👍
Only missed two...... Remington and Texan .
I remember the slogans
Brute was actually called"Brute 33"
..brute was actually called brut
If you view the flake adverts from 60-80 it’s like watching soft porn, great memories
Only 12 /25 😩
Dont remember hofmeister at all.
I still eat SMASH, so simple, quick.
Made by Batchelors now though.
Five wrong in all.
