In response to Hasbro releasing $1,000 proxies I have decided to proxy everything.
Hasbro doesn't want you to know this but you yourself can print every single card they have ever made and play with your friends. As a matter of fact, you can even print and play test your own custom cards with your playgroup.
Hell yeah! F'em!
I just buy singles and unofficial printed cards cause I need duals for legacy and WoTC refuses to reprint the cards we need to play the game so mind as well buy cards for a fraction of the price and with better quality... I stopped supporting WoTC out right a long time ago... Haven't bought sealed product in years its pointless and a waste of money... Love the game but the company is dog shit.
Too bad they shut down the best site for making magi proxies
Exactly! Me and my commander playgroup sold all our cards worth 20+ bucks and proxied those cards going further. They legitimized it + we are only in for casual play anyway. All my competitive play is focused on limited and pauper so there is no need for expensive cards anyway. Feels really good tbh... transforming a price intense hobby to being more or less affordable! Can only recommend ;)
Good. You babies are finally starting to think
Wizards: I cast revel in ricthes.
Players: I cast counterspell.
cant uh spell
Nah, we cast Negate
Or Swan Song because we might as well get symbolic at this point.
"Saw it coming" fits the best
Maybe NOW they'll nerf control.
THIS IS AMAZING. I was here for this moment in time.
FOLKS!
Mark Bottomwater...
Please. My taco can only get so floppy.
Those were your wife’s exact words when she came in yesterday.
3 🗑 🔥 years in a row.... can we go for 4? Hopefully wizards gets their shit together. Oh and don't forget.. fuck mark bottomwater and fuck papa hasbro
This is the way we celebrate Magic's 30th Anniversary! ALL the community gathers and unites to express the disappointment against the company ruining the game we love so much. I appreciate all you guys in the community and it makes me proud to be part of it.
How does it ruin the game? I don't play magic btw
@@buckbreaker5185 It's more that this stunt ruins the brand. They've joked for years that they would never do this and have now gone back on their word to do it anyways.
It reeks of corporate greed and corruption.
@@Ozgarthefighter well, if YGO ever dropped a $1000 4pack of boosters id probably be pissed too
@@buckbreaker5185I like yugioh, but konami would definitely do something like this if they knew they could get away with it.
@@nightingaleseraph unfortunatly, WOTC didnt realize that they couldn't get away with it.
I've been printing expensive cards on regular printer paper for the last 6 months. Best decision I ever made.
I print whole decks except the commander before I buy anything for it (Unless it's already in my collection). That way you can just wait until the price goes down
I did this as a teen with yugioh since our friend worked at staples lol would print dozens of expensive cards on thick paper that felt like a real card
THE VOICE OF THE PEOPLE RIGHT HERE.
This video is legendary. I hope all the other content creators share it.
Needless to say, I am here for this shit. We need more WSB memes like this. Thank you, what a kickstart to Monday! LETS GO

Screw Hasbro, RIP Wotc!!!!
I've been a bit out of the loop on the lingo, but I'm going to guess that WSB stands for "wizards sucks balls"?

In the future tombstones will play videos instead of just having quotes inscribed in them, MTG's should have this video, as a cautionary tale.
Have to say my biggest let down other than the obvious, is Kibler and Olivia shilling this shit. As if they don’t know how her precious commander community feels about it.
Olivia looked pretty dead on the inside during that announcement.
She looks like she's trying not to be sick. Like she's holding back vomit.
@@IamtheTolle she agreed to do it, no one forced her

Hahaha I'm in the same boat. I have boxes full of cards from 15 plus years ago. Amazing how fast the time goes.
@@NinjaSushi2 LOL, I quite the Pro Tour for poker ~twenty five years ago. *What a good choice that was.* WotC went full woke & minimum customer service. GARBAGE humans. Even worse: those losers control D&D. That's very sad. In the long run MtG is just another card game, but not a classic with staying power like poker. D&D on the other hand. It's literally a new art form. It's in EVERYTHING now. Hasbro needs to lose that license.
Bro I’m so out of the loop, what’s going on with magic and wotc?
LOL I find it equally amusing that a player in a tournament recently got disqualified for using curled Secret Lair foils...I mean it is not like we have known for years that foils curl might as well put on every box of foiled cards ''Danger Curves Ahead'' ;p
It's not like they were an important card or anything. Just the collected companies. No big deal
Bruh that's so fucked. Fuck Wizards and fuck Hasbro for not getting their shit together and fixing the holo problem when it leads to bs like this.
@@AT-il2ej the curl guaranteed he could always cut to his important combo piece
@@malakimphoros2164 WOTC needs better quality control
@Malakim Phoros A curl he probably didn't even intentionally put into his cards because, remember, that's money you are bending right there. There are so many other more subtle ways to cheat that doesn't ruin your foil's value, so why do that to an expensive card? WOTC are total clowns.
A call to all commander players. If you see anyone using 3rd party printed proxies, let it slide but if they are playing these 30th anniversary proxy cards you need to call BS and not allow them to play them in your pod.
Punishing your fellow players for the actions of wotc and Hasbro is not the way to go.
Ya we should stay dividing players and gatekeeping
Nah, if someone's using them, i know who to ask if I ever need a loan.
Ridicule is my new favorite mechanic.
@@jelstone20 try an alternative cope. WOTC and Hasbro didn't force anyone to buy the 30th anniversary proxies.

I literally just got into this yesterday! How do you think I feel?!?
A lot of these clips are from the Professor's video satirizing people who say "this is the death of Magic: The Gathering" every single time they make a mistake though.
it is ded tho. Almost all plyers at my locals quit during that announcment and they had to cancel the upcoming 2 weekends of mtg. Now we just have an additional yugioh tournament lmao

I quit playing magic 12 years ago after playing it for most of my childhood and early teens and just came back 2 months ago to play with friends and try mtgarena, looks like I chose the time well! In all seriousness it warms my heart to see a community with such good values and a firm idea of what a healthy relashionship between seller and buyer should be, you guys are all awsome and take note that this doesn't happen in most other areas when talking about games, most videogame communities will take any abuse by those making and selling the product as they act like junkies that must have their game at ANY cost. If magic survives and becomes better again it's because of you all, be proud!
Mtg:arena is a great game
a buddy of mine plays at my university so i decided to get into it just about a few days ago. I'm hooked on mtg arena and excited to play at the university and meet some new people but it sucks to see whats going on with the 30th anniversary, makes me question if i should invest in cards
@@foundprospect2604 if I had mtgarena back when I was younger I don't think I would have invested anything even tho it is a great feeling owning the cards and being able to play the physical thing instead of the computer game. I never played any tournaments tho so for that purpose it might be worth to invest as I don't think this 30th anniversary thing will kill the game.
@@foundprospect2604 At least getting one commander deck that you upgrade slowly over time is a pretty economical move and introduces you to a great format. If you really want to save money. Table top sim on Steam has modded tables that let you use all MTG cards and its a great way to play different formats with friends online and use every card ever made without spending a cent on them.
This is fire 🔥.
🎉celebrate good times come on! What a time to be alive! Glad I somehow found my way back to magic a few years ago. I was there for the birth, and now the death.

Amazing! 🥳 This must have been a lot of work! 💪🏻
Love the memes but this honestly portrays how I'm feeling. We can keep laughing at how rediculous the past years of magic have been but it honestly just makes me feel like theres a void in my heart where magic used to be.
Long gone are the days of quality printed cards, where you can't actually fucking see the printer markings on your cards' art. Speaking of art, long gone are the days where we had some interesting creatures, surrealist landscapes hand drawn. Now here, have a pitiful digital drawing of a Pixie with no expression. Gone are the days of artifacts, unique legendaries, novel mechanics. Welcome equipment and humans, legendary humans, humans, humans, vehicles, with humans on them. Oh yeah, we got different creatures, that all walk, talk, and also look human. Fuck nantukos, fuck kavus, baloths, fuck orggs, and weird looking slivers. We gotta streamline shit and pump out those sweet planeswalkers. We need walls of ability texts, nevermind neat and developed effects, just make them legendaries spew whatever you want them to.
Fuck this
Damn that’s a good use of the word magic ❤
This is awesome, timing, meme selection, omfg 10/10

Hey man! Awesome work! I really enjoyed the last editing you used in this video. Keep up the videos dude
Man, this made me sick to my stomach, literally and figuratively. Great work on the editing and all of the perfect cuts! I've been selling out of all my big cards lately. Good Luck yall.
It's weird the game is literally called Magic THE GATHERING to symbolize gathering together with friends to have fun... and to celebrate the 30th anniversary of this? A 1000$ product aimed at market flippers lol
Edit: Oh I forgot and the product is proxies of a list of cards they swore over and over again they would never re-print. Icing on cake.
This is truly the most interesting part of MTG's history and we are living it
I love this video so much, personally it’s bittersweet as I only started playing 2 years ago, and yet I feel this video with my very soul. I honestly don’t know what to do. I still enjoy playing but I can’t buy packs anymore because of this, and I love packs (I have weird luck don’t judge). I really do hope WOTC and Hasbro hear this and hear its fanbase
Print the card You need, put it above a basic land, play with your Friends. I used to Buy a lot of Magic productos, nos i Will only pay for singles and if the single is too expensive, print it. At least the homemade proxy doesn't curl like a pringle
I'm an old school casual player. Hasbro and Wizards are poorly managed, and they suck. They have been poorly managed for a long time.
Instead of improving their product and cultivating an engaged player base, which is hard, they've instead decided to spend their resources on finding innovative ways to wring money out of their players, which is easy. This is what you do if you are out of ideas and have bad leadership.
Thoroughly enjoyed this. Thanks man!! rewatching it for Mark Rothewater'th memeable faythe.
Where is that clip of him uncomfortably laughing from?
That was great. Thanks! Maybe make another end-of-year to sum up the whole year?
Was this not the sum-up???
There should be a "pitch meeting" video for Magic's 30th...
"...Selling 60 random proxies for 1000$, is that gonna to be hard to do??
"Oh it's going to be super easy! Barely an inconvenience!..."
I just got into Yu-Gi-Oh a few days ago as my first card game, and it seems like I made the right choice. But for all you Magic fans, may you guys find hope after these unfortunate series of events. Godspeed.
I made the switch to yugioh about a year or so ago and yeah definitely made the right choice especially with master duel existing which I believe was made just to cuck magic arena
Glad I sold my entire collection (every card above 4€ that is) a year ago. Even made a little profit because I was investing into commander staples ;)
At least it is warm and there are good conversations to be have at this dupster fire. So enjoy the show everyone. Really good video btw.
I'm not even into Magic but your video editing kept me here for the whole thing haha. Keep it up!
Thank you so much for putting together this amazing video. It helped me understand why I haven’t had any interest in MTG for the last few months.
The video is totally funny, even if Wotc never made so much money as they will do in 2022.
I'll repost here something I wrote under Dev's video:
A quick list of facts that, at this point, even the most hardcore Magic player should have get:
1) MTG is a pay to win game, people get addicted to a game which inflates the number of cards by 1500+ every year.
2) Wofc knows that, you are not their friend, you are a customer.
3) Buying cards is not "investing" it's gambling.
4) TT Card Games are going to be online only in the not so near future, but near enough.
5) Companies are trying to squeeze out of people all the money they can, while they still can.
So, you think this 30th year box is a scam?
It is the same exact scam you've been victim of with all the other cards, it is just more greedy.
Now, if you are rich enough, go for it, it doesn't matter, rich people buy a Gucci bag for 3000 dollars and that's good for the economy, but KNOW that you are throwing money away, don't delude yourself thinking you are "investing" or that the company selling pieces of paper to you is your friend. It is not.
You know if I'd known a year ago that I'd decided to get into Magic while it was on the precipice of destroying itself, I might have been a bit less enthusiastic about it. I just hope all the speculators lose money alongside WOTC for 'investing' in cardboard.
Fantastic work! I was here November 30, 2022. I play Oldschool, Ice Age Constructed and 90s Singleton-Formats to celebrate 30 years of Magic.
What a great video, thank you for this
Now we need an MtG 30th Experience.EXE meme format video. There's a ton of potential there
This was well done. Everyone coming together is how we can make a change.
One week later, still playing this at breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
omg, i fucking killed myself laughing when Glenn and Rob from It's Always Sunny appeared... amazing video brother.
Fun Fact: Kazuki Takahashi made the Yu-Gi-Oh card game, for his manga series, to be a blend between Magic the Gathering and Dungeons and Dragons
Even more fun fact: The Yu-Gi-Oh card game was never Takahashi's main goal. The manga was originally supposed to be an episodic thriller.
@@valutaatoaofunknownelement197 Yeah, the man casually made a worldwide card game on a whim.
This is art, so much creative work went into this and it's an absolute masterpiece.

Seems like I picked the worst time to get back into it after 10+ years. Only playing casual and commander though. I don't collect anymore only what I want to play.
The problem is people complain but then sold out 30th anniversary cards even if they cost a whole month worth salary lol people are stupid. They are the ones responsible for this, not hasbro or wizards. It's the consumers fault.
Commander being chosen as the entry level product was the death of MTG.

This was sadly honest and amazing. Well done. I loved every bit.
Best video on you tube. What is the clip that comes over when kibbler is talking during the official 30th announcement???
Awesome!
I think I know what happened but am not completely sure, can someone explain why I should not just sell all my cards right now? Are they just continuing to make expensive garbage?
You have to be missing parts of your brain to be commenting that dude. What are you confused about? They reprinted reserve list cards after promising for decades they never would.
"Gold! It's Gold Jerry!"
Does anybody know which interview that nervous "next question" is from?
'The end justifies the means' is the most patheticly correct and accurate line for a company.
Hasbro and Wizards would see to it that Magic die as a shell of itself, rather than have it live on and continue to make money.
T minus one hour and 30 minutes
Love this video kudos for the effort
Thanks for this content!
As much as I love magic, I also love to see this!!
This is what you get when you let parasites run your company!
Their greed will be their downfall, magic will live forever!
Being so dumb and politically illiterate you don't know why retail and consumer goods exist.
I never really cared because I don't play with expensive cards. All I play with is a Go-Shintai Shrines deck and add some unfinity to it to make it better. I'm hoping that 30th anniversary is telling of a future where they don't have investors anymore and they just reprint duellands and other cards for the benefit of the game rather than investment. Price to me is just a budget challenge and nothing more.
@Nick Mobley My deck isn't that good. If I really wanted to I can make it better but I just like playing the game with friends. Also yah it kind of is solitaire but I like the ability to build up all of these tools that can be used to change the game any way I want with less battle interaction. If I wanted real cancer, I can do so with some dumb purchases but I would rather budget than spend everything on one deck.
i couldn't tank the 2044 Professor 😂
I was sitting here thinking to myself "huh, well none of this seems so bad, none of this affects me anyway as I'm not stupid enough to buy packs." And then it showed ebay taking over tcgplayer and i was like "NOOOOOOOO" worst day ever for mtg.
God I remember how COOL Magic use to be. I remember how magical it felt getting a pack and getting something cool. I can't believe we're witnessing the death of this game.
The game can't die as long as there r players and cards... We don't need Hasbro or WoTC to play magic. Just buy singles and play.
as it says at the end, magic the gathering will be just fine. they're losing money so they HAVE to make a change
Imagine being this fucking poisoned by nostalgia you think the original pay-win-game was magical
@@Irish7992 ikr, if anything MTG was the harbinger, the prototype, for the overmonetisation and pay2win for every other game after it, by proving how gullible players are and how much money one can make from selling printed paper
The reserved list was already cringe. Paying more then 20$ for a card, should not be allowed.
