      Dan, I’m not familiar with the Stapleton brand. Couild you possibly be referring to
      The Stalpen Tree Jack? If so the Stalpen is a bit more expensive then the Reipal RH 6 pusher. They both are excellent tools. Reipal offers 6 different models of the tree pusher.

      Hi Tony and hello to you who asking,
      Sorry to intrude, but many people ask about the difference between the Stalpen and our RH-PUSHER Tree Jack. On the first, Stalpen and RH-PUSHER are market leaders in Scandinavia, so that is probably why many compare the two tools.
      Our largest model that we have, the RH-PUSHER VI, costs about half of what the Stalpen costs.
      The pole is as strong as approx. our model 2, which is one of the smallest models we manufacture.
      The difference between the Stalpen and the RH-PUSHER:
      Professional logger has given as feedback when they have tested our tools and the Stalpen. The following remarks is what professional loggers has told us.
      1. Tree-Jack has a better Clow, it is grabbing better since it is wider, but the most important with the clow is that the clow on Tree-Jack are very easy to get louse when the tree is falling, the tool will not go down with the tree and get damage if the tree roll over it. When the tree is starting to fall the operator grab the tool and move away, that is always possible with the Tree-Jack.
      2. The Tree-Jack can be cranked out 90 cm and Stalpen 60 cm, that is big difference, With the Tree-Jack you always have enough operation length to get the tree over in one operation and that is very important. If you don`t get the tree to start to fall before the tool is completely extended you are in big trouble.
      -RH-PUSHER has the best lifting power in relation to the weight.
      3. The Tree-Jack has a better safety crank system. When you crank very hard you can always get the crank louse and lower the tool without lifting the back-latch. Here in Sweden, it is forbidden to lift the back-latch when you lower the tool. Stalpen has problem with their safety-crank system. The Tree-Jack has a better developed system for safety crank system. In Sweden it is a law that the tool should have a safety crank system who works.
      4. The foot on the Tree- Jack has the corners bent down, if the ground is soft, the operator can put a long piece of wood under the foot. Since 2 corner are bent the tool will stay on the wood-piece and not go down in the ground when the operator put a lot of pressure on the tool (see attached file with image).
      5. On the Tree-Jack it is possible to turn the clow 90°, that means you can get the crank away from the tree, sometimes that can be a advantage. Larger models have larger claws (see attached file).
      6. The crank on the Tree-Jack is mounted lower than on Stalpen. The heigh the crank is on the Tree-Jack is correct for the operator to get the best most power to crank. On Stalpen the crank is to high to get a lot of power when you are cranking.
      7. The wire in the Tree-Jack can take a bigger load than the cogwheels in the Stalpen, If the tool get overloaded the wire will not brake,
      8. The Tree-Jack are longer than Stalpen when they are fully extended, that is important, you can get more pressure on the tree, since you can grab higher up with along tool.
      9. The Tree-Jack has a crank who can be folded in, that’s an advantage when tool is transported.
      The Tree-Jack is approved by the safety department in Sweden, we have also had the tools to kwf in Germany and they have approved all the models.
      Finally, our RH-PUSHER is equipped with a carrying strap to be able to be carried on the shoulder in the forest when you don't have access to the car, for example. RH-PUSHER has a very favourable price for the quality of the tool you get.
      We are the market leading brand today, we are the only CO who has more than one model, we produce 6 models to cover the full range of need for this kind of tools. We are selling our tools in a lot of countries today.
      Best regards, Zhanna.

Great company to work with shipped the next day and they had 40.00$ off and free shipping 👍🏻. That product is so well made and answered my emails with questions very promptly! Looking forward to using it soon on two Doug Fir 🌲 that just recently died both are 36”x about 100’, not near anything that would get Damaged if the fell didn’t go as planned. Already cleared out around the area for a quick escape😂😂 hopefully won’t need to use it.

      Tony; I've had it for 2 1/2 years. It is a type IV. It has never failed me, but being that close to a big tree turning that crank is pretty scary to me since I had an incident with a 33 inch oak tree that fell the wrong way, crushed my Stihl MS 661C chainsaw, and just about did the same to me as I frantically pounded wedges to change the direction of that falling behemoth., to no avail. The Reipal is heavy enough that I only bring it when I know I will need it. It is so well built. My only complaint is with the little tab to reverse the direction and collapse the pusher.

    • @TonysCoolTools
      @TonysCoolTools  Před 8 měsíci

      @@jimyoungquist1687 Jim, thanks for letting me know. I agree the big trees are scary. However, I much rather use the pusher then pound the heck out of multiple stacked wedges hoping for the tree to tip the right way.

    It seems like a hydraulic porta power unit fully extended would do a similar thing. Its marketed as an auto body tool and have 4-10, even upward versions. though it does only have a 5" travel on the ram I have there may be other rams to use. Might be safer too since it has a 5-6 foot tube to the pump. travel wise comes in a case that has wheels suitable for hard surfaces but with different casters and a longer handle frame made for the case could go most anywhere. Its a little heavier but if you remove atachments you dont need can lighten up. Not Saying I wouldnt have both if I had the $$ to spend, this looks like a nice fast tool.

    It didn't look that easy to "push over" to me. To me it looked like you were laboring to turn the crank. So, I wonder how difficult I would find cranking it on a tree that wasn't as long-dead as the one that you just cut. There wasn't a lot of weight in that tree, as it has obviously been dead for quite a while, and very dry and brittle.
    I'm surprised that you haven't done a video on that Pfanner helmet. I've got the same one myself, with a different color scheme. I'm guessing that you got the idea to buy that helmet from G.P. Outdoors as I did too.

    • @TonysCoolTools

      Mario the tree pusher is designed to put some pressure on the tree while you make a face cut in the front and back cut. It helps stop the bar on your chainsaw from getting pinched while cutting. The tool was not meant to push over a tree without cutting it first.

    So why do we arborists and lumberjacks not use these in North America then... Well that thing is heavy and we dont need it when we have simple wedges, or throw lines and rope. Im sure the tool has its place in certain forest settings where a vehicle is close by. I would still rather have a rope up in the canopy and its not that hard to achieve that.

    • @TonysCoolTools
      @TonysCoolTools  Před 8 měsíci

      I agree its not practical to carry around for all jobs but when my vehicle or UTV is close I definitely have it available.
      The question I have is why do so many European and Scandinavian loggers and arborists use this? Are we in the US missing something?
      When I see people using wedges and pounding the snot out of them or trying to sandwich two wedges together (which typically slip out) I find the tree pusher so much easier to use.
      The other thing is vibration caused by this excessive pounding has more chance of limbs falling.
