    I’m really proud of you! That’s a very mature move and there is nothing wrong with the reasons you want to move back home. As a mother of a junior in high school I will even go to the extreme of saying, even if the reason were to move back to be closer to your mom I’d say do it! There’s no shame it that. You tried it, you lived it and you’ve come out a better person for it.
    Your wallet and mom will thank you later. Best wishes on your future endeavors at OD. Keep on with the videos too! You’ve got support sweet girl 🤗

    Like living on campus seems nice and i can see the allure of gcu, its a huge school, it has that fun socal vibe, you have a pool, and concerts and being in a bigger city like phoenix and shopping and having warm weather pretty much year round, but i guess to lower your tuition/cost it would be better to rent an apartment close to campus with roommates but idk how commuting and parking would be and to have some sort of job lined up before moving there, but basically im assuming you have to be rich or have a lot of scholarships to enjoy going there without worrying about debt, but it definitely does seem like a fun party school with lots to do but idk the debt doesnt seem worth it to me

    I was planning to attend GCU online since it is a lot cheaper for me, however, my admissions councilor keeps pushing for me to go live on campus to get that college experience. I’m pretty introverted, so I feel like my time there will be pointless and I just can’t afford it. I’m not willing to take out student loans and go into debt later, since they offer online for the program I want, I’m going to take advantage of that and do it.

    • @Kcmbmz
      @Kcmbmz Před rokem +3

      She doesn’t have her comments open but I currently go to GCU and I live on campus and girl it is not for people who are introverted, trust meeee. I havent made friends yet, i feel out of place, and personally i feel like people are constantly judging you, there’s also a lot of yt people which kinda scares me honestly. Though i kno not all of them are scary, I actually managed to make some friends from ASU bt I recently had a falling out w my roommates, who are all yt and very much privileged , over the littlest thing and i felt so bullied and looked down on nd i cried my ass out for days. But as for the other things she mentioned, I’m a pacific islander so I do feel her point about flying back and forth between home and school and also paying out of state tuition, i am literally in debt rn😀

    I saw your video years ago when you first uploaded and I wish I would’ve watched or paid more attention when you explained your situation. I’m now 2 years into GCU and I absolutely hate my experience. I haven’t made any friends and I’ve already had to withdrawal TWICE. let’s not forget that they charge you for every minor inconvenience. So far I’ve spent over a grand on miscellaneous charges due to their unclear policies. Not a great school for first generation students like myself at all. Their on campus student resources suck too. The only reason I’m continuing my education there is because it would be next to impossible to switch over all my credits without having to retake courses and I so desperately wanted to get out of my current home state that I’m manipulating myself into thinking that it’s worth the headache I’ve had to go with, at this school. Education wise, the teachers are great, I feel as though I’ve learned a lot, but I can easily get the same education without all the drama online. I’m glad you found your way out of this school.

    • @jada3956
      @jada3956 Před rokem

      You too!. Girl I'm about to leave to sorry but GCU sucks. They based off false prophet motives and the students and professor is assholes and will judge you based off the way you look. So basically prejudice and racist at the same time are red flags for me. I been experiencing the same thing you experienced with the no making friends. Yes its that bad and IMA sophomore here. And the counselor of mines tried to take away my education and dorm before I got back Into the school for payment for the semester and I told them I would do it. So long story next year I won't be here because I didn't feel the connection and felt shut down from not being able to voice my opinion or even trying to get job here due to them rejecting me over race preference.

They acted like they didn’t really care that much about what they were doing and I just didn’t get a very welcoming vibe from them. Thank you for your honesty, it appears to be more cost affective for you to move back home and that is understandable. The good in this blog is the fact that you didn't bash this school and what a blessing it is to attend for many. My son is a student there and has almost a free ride. As a parent, I want to say thank you for your experience and I don't blame you one bit for sharing your experience, however, it is a blessing for many many students. My son has experienced much of what you are saying, this is his first year also (a graduate of a challenging Christian school) here at home in Hawaii. I want to encourage you for the most part in anything you do in life to "get involved in a group" of some kind that you know you can contribute to. There you will find a more fulfilling, challenging connection. It is in your best interest. We are from Hawaii, our culture and society are much different than those on the mainland, however, a champion is built from the differences and similarities we share and finding the ability to adapt. Being a christian school, I would behoove you to seek Christ in all your decisions. Aloha! to you and where our Lord leads you!!! Go Lopes!!!

      @@kia4020 When I when my niece was going to school there around the same time she did not qualify for scholarships and chose the highest amount of options for Apartments on campus and one of the higher meal plan. Her bill was around 13,600 per semester. We did not qualify for grants and took out loans. So i am confused why you paid 15k a sem? Did you just take out the max amount of loans they offered? Did you qualify for scholarships or any grants. Did they not give you a choice to have a lesser meal plan or room options to bring your costs down? This does not make sense why your bill was 15k a sem.

    it is IMPOSSIBLE not to make friends on any college campus. You get what you put into it. Walk the dorm halls in your wing, see an open door, walk in "Hi, I'm...I live 4 doors down, what's your name...?" I cannot stand when people say "I couldn't make friends". This isn't high school and mommy isn't there to catch you. Rant over.

    • @KiaraBell00

      It is very POSSIBLE to not make friends. Especially in an environment where you feel like you do not belong. Everybody does not have the same experiences. Therefore, it might be easier for others to make friends while harder for some.
