  • Grand Canyon University held a press conference regarding the next steps and details of GCU's appeal of the Department of Education's decision and fine. The nation's largest Christian university says it's fighting a $37.7 million fine brought by the federal government over allegations that it lied to students about the cost of its programs. Grand Canyon University, which enrolls more than 100,000 students mostly in online programs, said it's filing an appeal with the U.S. Education Department on Thursday. If it fails, the Phoenix-based school said it's prepared to file a federal lawsuit.

I don’t that they were transparent. Personally I think higher education is over priced, students go to university to get a degree to start a career they shouldn’t be paying a university for the rest of their life. $25,000 seems like a more reasonable price.

Exactly. For profit colleges, including Grand Canyon University prey on low income borrowers and veterans. When attending a real college such as Public (CUNY) or non profit college, they don’t have investors, because they don’t run like a business. For profit colleges have investors that run like a business. And that includes GCU, University of Phoenix, Capella University, and other colleges that are for profit. For profit colleges advertises these schools, for students to enroll, and use all your financial aide. And these for profit colleges make huge profits, because of the American taxpayer. For profit colleges have a bad reputation. Now I see why Grand Canyon University is such a witch hunt.
Brian M., Is in charge of another school, by causing more financial burden on more students. It’s a shame that this individual can be running another school. Smh 🤦‍♀️
