Similarly I've found that E-version 24-70mm useful in car and motorcycle exhibitions because of the VR. Big, but correctable distortion and vignetting at 24mm f2.8. This lens focuses a tad closer than the G-version, but sharpness drops considerably at close focus distances especially at 70mm. Mid to corner sharpness is excellent at all focal lengths wide open. Focusing speed is phenomenal. These are my thoughts after using it for 6 months...

I really like your shots at the motorcycle show. And the lady model on the right in your photo is absolutely stunning. Given the price of the lens in question I'm just going to have to content myself with the Nikon 24-85 f3.5-4.5 VR.

Damn...my lens didn't come with this operating personnel.
