I have never fallen in love with an ocillator/voice as hard or as fast as I have with the Odessa. It makes chords, drones, bird songs. And it's insanely easy to figure out, they killed it with the panel.
I preordered both modules, Hel and Odessa, and they just arrived. Odessa is so unique and sounds amazing. Just starting to dig in. Who ever wins will be pleased.
MAAAAN, I really want to get into modular but Im so poor right now Im actually building my eurorack modules by hand using schematics online lol. i might just suck it up though, and buy a XAOC it just sounds way too good
XAOC I am fairly certain is pronounced with the Russian transliteration pronunciation, and would sound like “Chaos”. Not “Zay-ock”. Also I love their stuff! :)
One of these days I'll probably run into ya at Perfect Circuit... all LA synth geeks know that spending way too much time there is practically impossible to avoid!
Yes. We need more accessible, user friendly tools for doing additive. The potentials of sounds design with additive are literally endless. It's the future
I apologize but this video kind of misunderstands what the knobs and outputs on the panel do so I would take this as more of a showcase rather than a tutorial. Cool patch though :)
Nobody commented on the Jomox? Shame! I’ve had the desktop and the Modbase09 module version. Sold the desktop but either one.. capable of the most massive kicks with a slight bit of post work on it
I love additive synthesis (I have a K5000S but no space for it atm, sad), and was looking at swapping out a module or two for one of these. And here we are when I went looking for a video. Some of the things this was doing are absolutely my jam :D and yes, I can definitely hear the thicc bass XD I do kinda want to cuss Xaoc for the 3hp expander vs 2 though 🤷♀️
bruh holy shit that parameter you were messing with around 4:37 patched to either an LFO or envelope could make a sickkk wobble bass. You could easily make hardware riddim that doesnt suck with that lol
Woah...ive always been intimidated by entering the "rack modulation scene" it seems very difficult to understand, i feel that if i use one i might blow a fuse out thats what has always kept me from delving into modulation. But winning one would be an epic thing to get as a first device. Sick video & awesome giveaway, ricky!
Nice demo! I like the sounds you managed to create here, but for some reasons I'm under the impression that this doesn't fully reflect what the Odessa is capable of. Thoughts?
Cool man. At czcams.com/video/ofUahVGUZCo/video.html I was hoping you were going to mix in some of that fundamental. Go back and listen and now imagine that with some sub.
Sad that it is FM. The sounds are fun but not what I need. I would have loved a 4+ poly voice for eurorack that sounds like a classic substractive synth. The Doepfer Quad VCO is so big, the demon core oscillator is just too expensive AND too big with the expander to have individual CV for some of the voices ... this could have been it :/
There is about dozen polyphonic modules in Eurorack, there is plenty of subtractive synthesis voices. Odessa is something entirely new and fresh instead of being yet another reiteration of the same thing. Why is that sad?
pe00000001 just for me ;) I know Eurorack is experimental, ai just don‘t like the digital piano sound. Can you name good poly modules that are not quad doepfer vco or demon core oscillator that sound analog?

What y'all got against Mars, huh?
Terms and Conditions say US only?
Content blocked for me in the UK.
the import tax is insane there :/
Entered! I went there like 6 times in two weeks buying stuff and rambling about how tired I was - I hope they don’t hate me! lol
I have never fallen in love with an ocillator/voice as hard or as fast as I have with the Odessa. It makes chords, drones, bird songs. And it's insanely easy to figure out, they killed it with the panel.
I wanna see Matt and Ricky play D&D together and then jam out afterwards
Yea the faders for CV attenuation and just the immediacy are insane! I miss it so much :(
And D&D then jamming sounds incredible.. just got my Rick and Marty D&D set haha
just FYI: in accordance with the naming convention that Xaoc stick to, the Odessa expander is named after Hel Peninsula in the Baltic Sea.
dope! thank you Stefan, thats super cool to know
I preordered both modules, Hel and Odessa, and they just arrived. Odessa is so unique and sounds amazing. Just starting to dig in. Who ever wins will be pleased.
*phew*
Perfect Circuit is the bomb

great job, this video made me purchase one, its on its way to me now!
r/edmproduction “you can’t use hardware synths to make modern bass music”
*Xaoc devices enters the chat*
It’s actually pronounced chaos just a heads up
whoa! had no clue haha. good to know! thank you for that
@@RickyTinez crazy frickin Polish people and their crazy frickin spellin' ;)
“хаос” indeed means “chaos” in Cyrillic, so I guess they just mocking it with latin letters.
@@AntonNidhoggr How boring life would be without the occasional mock.
Its so star wars. I love it
XAOC I am fairly certain is pronounced with the Russian transliteration pronunciation, and would sound like “Chaos”. Not “Zay-ock”. Also I love their stuff! :)
Thanks colin! had no idea haha. damn american accent
Yep ... Xaoc == 'Chaos'
It’s sounds like bb-8 on acid ! Would be great for strange techno leads
Needs more LEDs. 🤔The one red knob really tops of the vibe, for me.
It's dope. Stoked for you Ricky!
'Ricky-caused' rack rash IMO would only add to its value 😂
Seeing as that’s the actual one being given away would you be able to sign it if the winners wants?
haha me? i've done nothing but show off how good it sounds! XAOC should have signed it :)
Ricky Tinez i would LOVE if you can sign mine if I win. You are a celebrity even if you are humble hahaha.
Yes sign it. Dont be a wimp! Lol we love you, deal with it
Ricky Tinez you signing it would be amazing! I want to show off to my friends that I have a module played by the legend himself :)
Yes. That would be pretty bad ass actually.

The second I recover from paying for the Pulsar23 Im getting one of these 👊
gah im so jealous.. i want the Pulsar beyond anything right now lol
Ricky Tinez i hear you loud and clear. Easily my most anticipated piece of gear ever.
@@brendonmoeller I think you will be lost in your studio for hours at a time just jamming on that beast. I want one so badly.
roryjineffect absolutely 🤙🏻
Xaoc is actually pronounced and means chaos.
It's Russian or approximated Greek spelling.
This rhythm / bouncy beat is so futuristic.
I apologize but this video kind of misunderstands what the knobs and outputs on the panel do so I would take this as more of a showcase rather than a tutorial. Cool patch though :)
the odessa reminds me a lot of the sounds Jack Beats used in his tracks
I can see you are a man of taste.
Nobody commented on the Jomox? Shame! I’ve had the desktop and the Modbase09 module version. Sold the desktop but either one.. capable of the most massive kicks with a slight bit of post work on it
I have a lot to learn but watching these vids I will learn more !
Wooow this synth is amaazing😲😲😍🤸🏽♀️
Can I have it, pleeeeease? :)😎
Cool review. Give me the Odessa! Its the last module to complete my rack.
wow... really nutty harmonics start around at 4:44. out of curiosity, have you done anything else with the squarp lately?
I love to watch small setups. And this is a nice one.
That jam was outta sight!
It's like a live performance of Shaper Box
Oh man, I love this module!

Haha, yea I wish the CZcams audio didn’t lose allll the bass haha. It was shaking the house down!
Four entries out of 80k. Looks like this isn't going in my rack anytime soon, Jesus.
thanks, good vibes as always!
Nice one Ricky! Base is lovely ;-)
9:25 i am sold....Entering to win
rhampton1914 9:20 for me
And that was just using one output! Stereo nonsense with this guy could be pretty killer.
i knooowww, i wanted to do stereo but my recorder had the second input occupied by the mbase lol
Additive is so cool. Nuff said.
peace
Noted. Added to buy List. Also check out their Kaminiec if you haven't already, its a game changer.
I already know a bassist who went astray into the synth scene. And I'm afraid, this is gonna happen to me as well.
@rickytinez whats all the modules used dude? Jam was amazing
Thanks to you and PC buddy!
Sick! I entered the contest. Sounds like a sick synth voice!
and nice demo also, buddy
Amazing oscillator !
Entered! 👏 what a beast
DOPE! love it

that things a beast dayum
Love it...reminds me of a carnival at 11:10ish...hahah!
9:21 started hearing R2D2 sounds. nice.

oh, men, I thought about it but still went for that link...only US resident :( no Europe....maybe next time. Dope video, Dope Module
tbh, seems like more of a sound design tool than a musical tool. Still, very cool.
Why?
@@pe00000001 Tambres sound better for sound effects. Might be good for some odd percussion, bell, gong type sounds.
Reminds me a lot of Mutable’s Rings. Definitely has the same vibe, especially the inharmonic modes and comb filter. Super dope sounding
nice
👍👍👍
sounds just like kilowatts
Oh schade bin zu spät :-(
Wtf👍🎶🇬🇧
my wee brain :(

What do you mean by "it is FM"? The primary synthesis method here is additive, the FM inputs is just an additional feature.
pe00000001 I meant additive synthesis. Since there are added frequencies I didn‘t use the correct term.
:'(
