- ASMR Interesting Facts About South Africa
Welcome to this ASMR session where we'll explore fascinating facts about the vibrant and diverse country of South Africa. Often referred to as the "Rainbow Nation," South Africa earned this nickname to celebrate its multicultural diversity post-apartheid. With 11 official languages, including Zulu, Xhosa, Afrikaans, and English, the country is a linguistic tapestry where each language adds its own unique color and flavor to the cultural landscape.
South Africa is home to three capital cities, each with its own role. Pretoria serves as the administrative capital, Cape Town as the legislative capital, and Bloemfontein as the judicial capital. This unique arrangement reflects the country's dedication to balancing power and representation.
When it comes to places to visit, South Africa offers a plethora of breathtaking destinations. The iconic Table Mountain in Cape Town provides stunning views and hiking opportunities. The Kruger National Park is a must-visit for wildlife enthusiasts, offering one of the best safari experiences in the world. The Garden Route, with its scenic coastal views, and the Drakensberg Mountains, perfect for hiking and adventure, showcase the country's natural beauty.
South African culture is a rich mosaic of traditions and customs. From the rhythmic beats of traditional Zulu dances to the soulful melodies of township jazz, the arts are deeply ingrained in South African life. The country's cuisine is equally diverse, featuring dishes like bobotie, biltong, and bunny chow, reflecting its multicultural heritage.
In addition to its natural beauty and cultural wealth, South Africa is also known for its significant historical sites. Robben Island, where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned, is a powerful symbol of the country's journey towards freedom and equality.
Join me as we delve deeper into these captivating facts about South Africa, savoring the sounds and stories that make this nation so uniquely beautiful.
Enjoy watching! 🫶🏾
Point of clarity: Colonization in South Africa began at the Cape of Good Hope located in the Western Cape province of South Africa. In the Eastern Cape, significant colonization started with the arrival of the 1820 British Settlers…
Also, The situation regarding Zulu resistance to plantation work and the subsequent arrival of Indian laborers in South Africa is more nuanced. While the Zulu people were not typically used as plantation laborers in South Africa, their resistance to British colonial rule and their involvement in conflicts with colonial authorities did play a role in shaping the labor landscape of the region.
The primary reason for the importation of Indian indentured laborers was the British need for cheap labor on sugarcane plantations in Natal (now part of South Africa) in the mid-19th century. The Zulu people, being primarily based in other parts of what is now South Africa, were not the target labor force for these plantations.
Zulu resistance to British colonial rule and land dispossession did lead to conflicts, such as the Anglo-Zulu War of 1879, but this did not directly result in the importation of Indian laborers. Instead, Indian laborers were brought to South Africa as part of a broader colonial economic strategy to meet the labor demands of the growing sugar industry in Natal.
Done now… I had flu when I was filming this and under medication. Haha, now I am back to my senses lol. Enjoy! 😜💤
Thanks for clearing up yonkinto, i was about to ask for clarification on that "colonisation began in the eastern cape", Siyabulela Makazi...ps thats what i think your fans should call you😆
With all due respect, I am not makazi of anyone watching my content. 😂 Please stick to Siviwe or Cyve. I don’t like nor appreciate it when people call me anything other than my name. It gives me ‘eww’ vibes. 👍🏾
@@africanxhosaasmr alright Cyve🙏🙏❤️
The History of Indian South African people is sad, I wasn't aware, thank you for the knowledge
Looks like you missed my last Wisdom Wednesday video! Why do you skip videos? 😆 If you had watched it, you'd already know about the history of Indian South Africans…. Yeah hey, it is pretty sad.
I definitely missed it, I will check it out
I am grateful for the history/geography lesson 🌈🙏🏻 I was raised by a family who didn't respect the diversity of people, and I have been trying to educate myself since leaving them behind - so this was a welcome video! 💓 Also, your voice was still lovely and soothing despite the flu. I'm so glad you're feeling better 🫶🏻 and the ramble about scuba diving was delicious like a cup of tea lol! 🤌🏻✨

Why do job applications ask the race of the applicant?? Is that not keeping the reminder of apartheid times alive or is it for some positive discrimination purposes?

Hey hey! 👋🏾
I learned something new
My girl you are looking gorgeous as ever. Loved the tone of this video, it was so soothing 🥰😊
This was an awesome video! Thank you so much!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Hey Cyve! Great video. I just wanted to point out that Coloured is an identity distinct from "mixed race". It can include mixed-race people, but is also its own ethnic group in itself. For example, a mixed race child born to black and white parents won't necessarily grow up eating Coloured (Cape Malay) curries or speaking Coloured language dialects.
hope you're feeling better and doing good ❤️😁
All good now, thanks.
This turned out very well. 10/10. 🌱🚿
Thank you 🙂
i definitely learned something new today! ^_^
First, i just LOVE your videos jhooo🥰🥰🥰

The history of my ancestors is really sad and horrible and I genuinely wish I knew which part of India my family comes
Can you do something with Africa makeup

The picture that you used yase Bloem ,Ive passed by there once but is that really the best picture you could have shown🤣🤣🤣🤣

Thank you so much for getting out of your way to teach us about your country 😊❤️
My pleasure 😊
I LOVE YOU AND YOUR CHANNEL AND YOU ARE VERY APPRECIATED BY ME SO I DONT MEAN THIS IN AN OFFENSIVE WAY, I MEAN IT AS A LIGHTHEARTED JOKE BUT I THOUGHT YOU WERE HOLDING A HOTDOG IN THE THUMBNAIL
3 Capitals?! I barley remember my own states Capital
Please don't go scuba diving without proper training. There is a reason why these courses take a long time and have tests. Go snorkeling instead 🙂 A lot can go wrong even in low depths of 10-15 meters.
So basically, Europeans did the same thing in South Africa as they did everywhere else. Informative, but not surprising.
Also I think a ship is just a really big boat. Idk, I've spoken English my whole life and never thought much about the distinction.
First time being early, yay❤❤
😊🫶🏾
thought She was holding a wurstel on the thumbnail, that confused me😭
-Hey, I see you're struggling in your country (because we are invading and exploiting it), what about coming to another place we you can do better? (That we're also invading and exploiting).
🤣🤣🤣yeah no our colonizers had us damn
Basically! 🥲
Without colonialism, it'd be a very primitive place still ❤
