I've been taking sertraline for 7 weeks now. I can relate to so many things you're going through/feeling. The sensitivity to sounds is a bit numbed down for me as well...and I'm so much more Chill in general. Thanks for sharing your experience!

Im on 50mg sertraline for about a week now, started with 25mg for a week, so 2 weeks total, only symptoms i have now are tiredness and trouble concentrating, but i already notice a day and night difference 😊 my heart rate is back to normal, my heart was always pounding fast and hard and i never knew why. I now feel like the weight of the world is off my shoulder and im less scared to talk with strangers and socialize more 😊, i have tried 2 other antidepressants but they didn’t work for me (Venlafaxine and Citalopram) but i feel like Sertraline actually helps me. Oh i also sleep alot better, havent been able to have a good sleep for years, but now i can and it feels so good.

@@bby_jaquelin hai, yes im doing fine, still taking sertraline 50mg, the tiredness went away after a few weeks, still have it sometimes though, and sometimes a cloudy/foggy feeling in my head, like I can’t concentrate, but that could be because sertraline can amplify your ADHD, but the reward outweighs the negatives. Im pretty happy with it, as its given me my life back, and the panic attacks have completely stopped ☺️

Brilliant video Meg! It's reassuring to hear other people's insights and brilliant in tackling the stigma that surrounds medication and mental health! Thanks for sharing!

Thank you for sharing your journey with Sertraline.
I to was scared to take anti meds but it came to the point that I was scared of everything!
    I knew I needed help.
I am on week three of taking meds and just increased to 75 mgs
My goal I think is 100 because I want to take enough to make a big difference.
Do you or any followers suffer with wanting to get back to your “safe” place?
If so could you share what works for you.
I find even when I’m away camping in my rv or on a day trip with our truck I always want to get back to my “safe” place. Example ( rv, and or truck)
    At home it my home.
Hoping the medication helps me to feel safe where ever I am.

thank you for your comment! I totally relate with wanting to go back to your safe space. since you’ve been on the medication for three weeks I would give it more time to settle in and eventually you should see the improvements. perhaps exploring the why to wanting to go back to your safe space and where that comes from with someone you trust or a therapist could also be useful.
*for me, wanting to go back to my ‘safe’ place comes from my lack of tolerance to uncertainty. since I started testing that uncertainty and doing exposure exercises, I found my safe space was not as desperate to go back to.
I hope you get on well with them, being scared of everything is draining, I can relate

@@Megansjournal thank you for explaining this to me. I really appreciate any feedback as I often feel alone in this.
Could you share how you do “exposure” exercise’s?
I see the doctor this week and was going to ask for some counselling …

So I have a horrible phobia of being stuck in an elevator since I was a child. Ive always thought that if it happened….I would literally not survive it lol. I’ve been on sertraline (for which I thank YOU) since Jan 12. Three weeks ago my husband and I got stuck in an elevator. I started to panic mentally b/c I knew that the horrible PHYSICAL panic attack symptoms were about to start. ANYYYYY second now. ANYYYY minute now…here it comes….still waiting 😂 My body literally would not panic. It’s like the panic was blocked off. Then I started to calm down mentally and we were in there for 41 minutes and I was ok!!! I told my husband it HAS to be the sertraline! Now I will say…when that man got that door open…I jumped out and down to the floor and wrapped my arms around this stranger and wouldn’t let go for a while 😂

wow! that’s an amazing story Tina, not the elevator part, but the fact that you were able to combat that fear a little bit and the panic was at bay! it’s like the thoughts are still there but as you say, they help it from going to extremes which let’s face it, are usually irrational and give us a lot of annoyance! not to mention it’s draining. I’m so glad you are continuing to improve on them! and well done you! im glad i could provide some reassurance on the way for you!! Proud of you!

Hi Megan, I have pretty much alot of the same symptoms, I suffer from GAD and have tried quite alot of antidepressants, but everytime, side effects are just too much!
I get dizzy, nervous, shakey, hyped up... And worst of all, I get anxious from even thinking about taking antidepressants!
Have you ever tried things like Xanax etc? If so, whats your experience with them? Is Sertraline the first thing you try?
    Tx

hey!! yes I have only tried sertraline so far, I was the same for a while! the fear of the side effects was too much. when I started taking them I took time off work to try and relax whilst the side effects were difficult. I hope that you find something that helps soon!
