A quick, heartwarming story, relating to your mention about fussy eaters....several years ago, we booked dinner at Sanaa. We always do our research and communicate ahead of our visits with the restaurants, as our son is on the Autism spectrum and is very limited in what he will eat.
In spite of having communicated ahead of time with Sanaa, when we arrived, the lady at the front desk had no record of our request, and was shockingly dismissive of the whole thing. We were visibly upset as we got seated (she was the least "Disney" cast member we had ever encountered) and were debating our options. Our waitress came over and I guess noticed we were upset.....we explained the situation, and she winked at us, and said "What does your little guy like, and leave it to me!" About 15 minutes later, a massive plate of chicken nuggets and fries was placed in front of our smiling son.....it turns out that the waitress had one of the kitchen staff ride over to the Mara on a bike, to pick the food up!!! (Suffice to say, this wonderful lady turned what was shaping up to be one of our worst Disney experiences, into a story I have told many people as one of our reasons why we go back to WDW all the time!)

A long time ago we went to Boma with my family. At that time, my son who was 6 years old and is also on the Autism Spectrum started a gluten free diet. There were not too many options in the breakfast “Menu” , but when we explain our situation to the waiter, he return from the kitchen follow by the chef in charge of the kitchen with a couple of gluten free pancakes made just for my son :-) the chef procede to explain how they made them, they were very emotional, you really can tell this was important for them! Imagine how blessed and gratefully we felt.

To sum up: if you’re not interested in the animals, don’t go. If you are interested in the animals, get a savannah view. That’s not to say you can’t look out hallway windows to see the animals but, going out on your balcony at night and seeing a giraffe sleeping under the room next door is priceless.

The Animal Kingdom isn’t for everyone. If you need walking or jogging trails, this is not the place for you. The grounds are small to accommodate the savannah. Children more interested with the oversized Disney statues and/or themed pools will be bored. I can’t speak to the family suites but, DO NOT EVER EVER EVER go to Art of Animation if staying in the Little Mermaid building. You will trip over a bed as soon as you walk into the room if there are two beds in your room.

@@stefanfilipovits21 Thanks for the response. I'm going with my SO and staying at AKL for 5 days but we want to go down early and stay at another resort for 2-3 days prior so I'm trying to figure out which one we should also stay at. One of our friends recommended Saratoga Springs? Have you ever been to that one, how does it compare to the other 3 you just recommended?
Thanks again! This is our first Disney trip and we're excited but also a bit overwhelmed lol

On the parking lot at Kidani - We love it. You're under, as in out of the sun! We drive to the parks to avoid the buses at park closing, so having your car not baking in the Florida sun is nice. Admittedly it still bakes at the parks, but having elevators that are actually close to the car and not a huge parking lot away is another great plus.

I do miss the Disney resorts, but when I retired from teaching, I started renting a house nearby because of the amazing price and amenities. We are at the park all day anyway so never really had time to enjoy our Disney resorts in the past. Plus when renting a house, I love having a private pool and hot tub. We do still eat at a resort or two each trip, and can go back to our $109/night house.

We stayed concierge at Jambo House for my nieces 10th birthday in 2019 and it was worth the splurge! We had a room right next to lobby overlooking the Arusha savanna and it was always bustling with animals. My niece loved it and waking up to the animals every morning was truly magical ✨

I wish I had seen this a month ago! We booked a savannah room specifically so I can watch the giraffes in the morning. We decided to go to Epcot while we waited for our room to be ready, and when we got back from drinking through the countries I realized that Pembe doesn’t have giraffes....tears were shed 🤦🏼‍♀️
Considering it’s so far out of the way from the other parks, I was surprised with how little we had to wait for a bus & the ride didn’t feel long at all!! I would definitely stay there again, just have to make sure I get the right savannah lol

I'm so glad I read this comment bc I just switched from the Swan to AKL bc I rather stay in a Disney resort but lost the perk of the walking to the parks. That really is my only worry is that the busses take a long time to go to parks.

Back in 2014, I took my gf to WDW for the first time. I proposed to her on this trip, and we will be celebrating our 5 year anniversary this coming October. We stayed at the Animal Kingdom Lodge, Jambo House. We requested a Savanna view and were fortunate enough to get Zebra Trail. Just outside our room was a watering hole and feeding locations for all the animals. Every morning my wife and I would sit on our balcony, watch the animals, and mark them off on the chart that was there for us to use. We absolutely love the Animal Kingdom Lodge!

Stayed at AKL in 2019 for my honeymoon and it was worth the cost! We'd booked a standard room but when we got to the room it was ground floor and overlooked the valet parking, so quite loud and not very private. Since we were staying for 2 weeks we went and spoke to the front desk and they moved us the next day to a beautiful savannah view room! So much quieter and more private. Such an amazing hotel we'd love to go back to

Stayed here 3 times and will be staying here again in 2023 [it's more expensive coming from the UK] best hotel I've stayed at, my only complaint is that the bus transportation is not as frequent as it could be, as mentioned in the video it's the only means of getting to the parks.

A very accurate review. We have been fortunate enough to stay there because we are DVC members. It IS very far from everything and my goodness, AJ isn't kidding about the hallways. One thing we learned was to park way far down in the underground parking because it actually put us closer to our room. The con to doing that was we didn't go to the lobby much and it truly is a beautiful space.

My wife and I spent 9 days at AKL for our Anniversary. We booked an Arusha Savannah Club-Level King room for the entire stay and yes, AJ, it was very expensive. However, the experience was nothing short of Magnificent! Add in that, at that time (I have no idea about now), Concierge Level at AKL was the only way to book the DAK Morning Breakfast Safari prior to Park Opening. That experience was also AMAZING! We both share a love of the animals, art and landscapes of Africa, so it was the perfect location for our Anniversary Celebration.... except for one thing, the flavor profiles at both JIKO and Sanaa were not to my liking... not their fault at all, but it was the 1st time in my life that I could not eat my Filet Mignon (JIKO). I'm sure that I didn't pay enough attention to the menu, but please be very aware as the flavor profiles can be very different.

I just stood at Kidani Village back in March and while I would stay there again I would probably check out other resorts first. While Sanaa is amazing The lack of quick service and food options are a big problem, the rooms while nice are starting to show a big of age. Many moderates and even values have nicer bathrooms. Also one thing I found annoying was the lack of a screen on the slider. We couldn’t leave the door open on a cooler night without having a ton of crane flies and other fun Florida bugs coming in. It’s a very relaxing and quiet resort and Paul the animal expert was an absolute delight. Also can they bottle up and sell whatever scent they pump into the hallways and elevators because I fell in love with it.

I’ve stayed here 4 times in the last 10 years, it does not disappoint. With that said pop for the savanna view especially if you have kids. Club level, meh if you’re not on a budget pop for that. Parking garage is wonderful, especially in the south Florida sun. On-site dining is wonderful or go out in town which is a hop, skip and jump from this resort. Pools are excellent ✌🏼

This is the only Disney hotel I would stay at if the parks didn't exist. It's just a great experience and the restaurants are fantastic. My family does a lot of Disney trips and have stayed at most of the resorts at least once and the only reason we don't stay at the AKL every trip is the longer distance to MK/HS/Epcot but it's always on the short list when we are deciding on a hotel.

I love AKL, but it is quite removed from most of the Disney World activities & Parks. When I want to stay at AKL, I book it for 2-3 days, then move to a more centrally located resort on property. At AKL, I make certain to visit Animal Kingdom park, enjoy the AKL restaurants & take part in many of the AKL activities. It is a wonderful way to enjoy this magnificent resort & then move to be closer to everything else.
AJ, for years I took resort hopping trips to WDW, staying at 2 to 3 hotels over the course of a week to 10 days. Have you ever considered doing a multi-resort stay video?
