This was one of my favourite Old Testament books when I was a kid in Sunday School. I thought it was so cool how the fish swallowed Jonah. As a young adult I used to think how scary it must have been for Jonah , being swallowed by a fish. He must have thought he was a goner. But then I had a Revelation that the Fish was actually ‘ transport’ and it saved him from drowning in the sea amidst the storm. A blessing in disguise. How similar in our lives when sometimes it is ‘ dark’ and we feel helpless and hopeless but God is actually providing us with a safe environment ( perhaps sheltering us from something worse) that is conducive for Repentance.
