  • Hi guys! This new tutorial about Bustier Flat Patterns and Sewing.
    In this tutorial, you will learn how to draft a Basic Bustier.
    I also showcased a few of the contour principles especially the contour techniques for a Basic Bustier.
    I also added a few sewing techniques; the proper way to sew a bustier, how to press the seams open for a bustier and how to attach french laces to each panel.
    Bustiers are perfect for wedding dresses, bridesmaid dresses, and cocktail dresses.

    BUST RADIUS MEASURMENTS:
    sizes 6 to 12 or Small to Large body type
    Bust Radius: 3inches or 7.62cm from the Bust point. Use your compass for easier drafting.
    Sizes 0 -4 or Extra Small body types
    Bust radius: 2 6/8 inches or 7 cm from bust point.

    Hi, thank you for such a detailed instruction video. I've been following along and realised o font know how to find the cross back notch. Im sorry I'm sure this must be simple but i have never heard of it in pattern cutting before.

      Cross back notch is the back chest line. Notch the cross back or back chest line at the CB and back armhole

    CUP TO BUST RADIUS:
    1″ = A cup
    2″ = B cup
    3″ = C cup
    4″ = D cup
    5″ = DD cup (or E cup)
    6″ = DDD cup (or F cup)
    Multiply by 2.5 for centimeter(s) conversion

      It’s what we call fusible interfacing to stabilize the fabric. 😉☺️

      Hi there if you can find hair cloth either black and white, that’s my preferred interfacing or fusing. I don’t use Pelon it’s not good quality. 😊

And I’ve been using Armstrong’s book for drafting my pattern for a couple of years now. It’s the only technique I have been successful with. Would I be able to use this technique to draft patterns and put them on the internet or sell these patterns?       Yes!!!! You can definitely do, but without applying the contour at the bust

      Well don't know how to explain it lemme try ,,.At the midpoint of the zipper allowance, u go in by half an inch then connect the point to the top n bottom of the pattern ,u then cut it out ..that gets rid of the zipper bulge

    Hello. I always end up with excess bust volume for small bust ladies. The actual bust is smaller compared to the volume of bust on the garment. What am i not doing right?

      Try decreasing the bust volume by 2/8 of an inch from the bust point and use your curve ruler to reshape the bust.

    Just a quick question po ma’am. Yung sa basic bodice pattern po mas mahaba po yung front figure kesa sa back? Pano po sya nagiging pantay lang po?

      Usually mahaba sa likod kesa sa harap. Depends din sa figure nang client. That’s why I recommend na laging mag toile or mock-up para ma-test fit yung pattern. Yun ang downside nang pattern making sa paper, need yung mag test fit lagi para sure sa measurements and of course yung comfy fit nang bodice.

      As per helen armstrong bodice there is no shoulder dart for the front bodice but your basic bodice has front shoulder dart too.
