Tried to make my brand new 5 star wobble this morning. Could not do it. But mine does have the 5 star logo up on the frame.
Great job as always Big Dawg!
so the take home message is the new version with the clutch derailleur would be a good way to go with this bike. 👍
I already upgraded rear rotor to 203mm, clutch derailer, refactored shock pivot arms and handlebar mounted front light. This Five Star is dialed, love this thing!!
What derailuer did you get?
@@shootthechit the same as you (based on your video) microSHIFT Acolyte :)
@@hottamalekid3502 Nice, it's a solid derailleur
Good video! yeah I’m glad I opted for the Blue and gold rims for my review Bike
@@Trailtested Yea, Im not jealous at all lol. Do you have a thru axle?
Can the 26" rims come in gold or only the 24" rims?
Recently received a 17" and 19" ecells five stars. All the new stuff plus free front baskets. 1895 each using chit100. And we have the stars on ours. Thank you for all the videos.
They do not include the front baskets any longer and now we have to pay a $300 Tariff, ugh.
My Five Star hasn't arrived it, but I already ordered all the parts you specified for the clutch derailleur, so thanks for posting this.
I'm in Rio Vista, CA. I take 10 to 30 mile trips around the delta.
Since 2018, I've owned a Rad City, Rad Mini, Bolton 2020 24" tires and Lectric XPremium. I've sold all of them to make room for the Five Star.
oh nice, Rio Vista right across the river from me. I was thinking about doing a ride form here to there one day but not crazy about riding across the Antioch bridge.
Where do you ride at on the Delta?
@@shootthechit,
Yes. that Antioch Bridge has strong crosswinds. I would not even cross it with a light motorcycle. The motorcycle has to be at least 420 lbs.
Back to eBikes, there are two routes I like.
One is the rolling hills west of Hwy 12 and Trilogy, then south to downtown along the Sacramento River, then up North - 17 miles.
The rolling hills portion is only a six mile stretch but with at about six hills to climb and at least moderate cross winds. I wear a full face helmet, so it's comfortable.
My second favorite is taking the ferry to Ryer Island. It's is about a 20 mile around completely around the island. It is mainly flat but with strong three-quarter headwind from the west on the return trip. That said, several weeks ago when I crossed it, the Caltrans lady told me they'll be "open all day". However when I returned 2 hours later, the Ferry was shut down. Long story short, a nice lady gave a lift out of the island. That's the only time the ferry has broke on me in over two years, but my wife said she won't pick me up next time. It's difficult to get to with all the back roads :-)
Both routes have very few cars. This is good as these country roads don't have a shoulder to ride on. That said, the cars are courteous and don't make it a big deal passing you. I did these on my RadMini modified with true 750 watt motor, Bolton 2020 with true 750 watt motor & 24" tires and Lectric XPremium 500 watt mid-drive. The RadMini & XPremium are foldable bikes with 20" tires. I have now sold my Bolton 2020 & XPremium. My Five Star arrives in about 4-6 week. If I can find your email address on your CZcams, I will send you maps of my route.
There is actually a 3rd route I forgot about. It start from Trilogy, cross over Hwy12 west to the rolling hills (with wind turbines..) instead of going south to downtown Rio Vista, I go north to Birds Landing. Lots of rolling hills, cross-winds and headwinds. That's about 30 miles in the hot sun :-)
When I get the Five Star, I don't plan to ride at full blast. I eBike to get a good cardio workout for an hour or two. I'm an old guy - 73 years old.
The Five Star will give me more range. Mine will have 24" high speed road tires and cadence sensor. I only need the 35+ mph for the busier River Road in Rio Vista along the Sacramento River.
Chit, check your email for July 11 at 9:05AM. I sent you maps of several routes in Rio Vista.
My blue 5 star purchased post 4 piston brakes addition did come with the 5 stars decals on the top of the frame. Interesting those were missing on his bikes. I received my bike June 14 2024. I also received the front rack which I did not pay for. No free rear bag though, glad they sent the rack instead, much more proprietary than a rear bag. I love the bike, directly comparing to my Wired cruiser it feels about the same power wise maybe a smidge slower due to the extra weight but I’d trade 1-2mph any day to have such a solid and smooth running bike.
That is interesting about the rear rotor not being 203mm
The front and rear rotors should be the same, especially given the power and weight of this bike; in my humble opinion.
@@TeddysVentures I fully agree
I purchase one of the earlier bikes gloss black with gold rims it came with the thru axle but the smaller brakes. I also requested the new shock linkage; I'm thinking about painting them gold before installation to match the rims.
Very Cool Chit head. Looking forward to the arrival of My beautiful blue Dual Star with the gold wheels and torque sensor in the next few weeks ! ( Hope mine has stars ).....
Dave made a post today saying 68 bikes were delivered without stars, so it sounds like you will probably have stars since it was only a batch that didn't have them
Hey!! I've got a 2020 Race Red GT500 myself! And a first edition blue one. Love it, got it a month ago. I need to do that clutched derailer upgrade for sure!
Nice! That car is actually my friends, I think his is a 2017. Its pretty insane you can buy a car with over 700hp and a warranty these days.
The 2020 GT500 in Race red looks like it deserves a speeding ticket sitting still ! Wish I could say I have one of those in my garage, but Ford's Dealer greed program put the ax on that one ! At least I've still got my 69 Mach 1, and a Blue Dual Star with gold wheels on the way.
Have any of you 5 Star owners opted for torque sensor pedal system? And I see the price has gone up on Ecells bikes.
I was curious how much air you would put in the 26 x4.25 tires with the Tannus armour installed?
I usually run 20 psi in the 26x4 tires.
Sitting on back rack while paddling is still not exact the same as having battery on the back rack, it will be more convincing if wobble test with battery or similar weight on the back rack
My thought exactly . It’s the weight of the rider in relation to bonus weight sitting in the rear that assists the wobbling .
Nice job!
Wow from 3 to 3.5 inches, that's a BIG upgrade, really a ton of size increase if I do say so myself.
hahahaha yea! but in this case bigger isn't always better
Got mine 3 weeks ago and it has the stars , wondering i just noticed that my front tire is not centered in the forks , when i put it together the forks rubbed on the calipers , they had me adjust the calipers , quit rubbing but spokes were still close then today i noticed wheel wasn't center of forks . how are yours and your friends ?? maybe something on mine still isn't right !
They are fine, sometimes you gotta put your weight onto the front fork when you tighten the nuts down to ensure its all the way seated into the dropout. Ive had this issue before with the quick release and had to reseat it
Do you have the regular fork or upgraded version?
@@TeddysVentures upgraded
My 5 star was delivered 6/29, new version with the stars!
I always forget to put air in my shocks in the mini-van, don't feel bad.
Mine is tight and right. The rock shox rear is sweet, can't wait for the dual crown fork .
I ordered may 31st and took delivery 2nd week of June, I have the 4 piston brakes also. And blue, unfortunatly gold rims wasn't an option but I do have the 5 gold stars. I did get a front basket which is awesome and the rear luggage bag. 19" frame too, its a beast!
Great timing for me, mine is shipped and on its way to me. I want the stars, hope I get them. I see the new bike still hauls a@#.
You have more followers than The E-cells channel!!
Must be nice to have a five-star e-bike. I purchased mine back on May 1st almost at the 75-day Mark still waiting
Hopefully you will get it soon!
Interesting comparison! Excited to see which one comes out on top! We sent you an email, take a look.
@ShootTheChit - I've heard your reasoning for not sharing a video of installing the Clutch Derailleur, BUT since you keep mentioning that upgrade, you gotta share an installation video! 😆 Regardless, I was a little disappointed with your demonstration of the bike "not wobbling". At 3:48 you were grabbing the rear rack while trying to display an absence of wobbling. Not only would that help hide/reduce a wobble... I believe I was still able to observe a wobble. 😮 I used your link/discount code CHIT100 and should be receiving my FIVE Star with Dual Star Upgrade this month, but I'm now concerned about a wobble actually existing! Please shake the bike again without grabbing the bike by it's seat, rack, wheel or anywhere besides the handlebars while shaking the bike!
There is no wobble as the rear linkage is very sturdy. On the "other" brand bike its very noticeable as someone posted a video of it on Facebook. My 2024 version of the other bike has it present, but It never made the handlebars wobble, that seems to be exclusive to the newer bikes with the battery in the rear rack.
I have the V2 blue. CHIT100 yo. Love the bike.
LOL I see plenty of flex in that frame @3:49.
I was thinking the same thing! And thanks to the tariff these bikes now cost an extra $400 for the base model. No longer the value they once were.
It’s ok on the 203 in the front and 180 on the rear. The front is where the majority of the stopping power is. Thanks
@rvboondocker2559 Oh yea I agree, I just thought they said they were going to 203 front and back but I could be wrong
Lets hold both sides of the bike during the wobble test... LOL 😅
The wobble is in the rear triangle, not the frame so holding the seat doesn't change anything
@@shootthechit Incorrect. Your "wobble test" isn't proving anything. Stick a 15ah battery on the rack, then try it again with both hands on the bars, not the seat.
@@gnuibe Sure man, if anyone would know it would be you
@@shootthechit When you shook the newer Ecell model you were holding the rear rack, not the seat.
Put some Magura MT7E brakes on there and let us know how well they work?
I'm honestly fine with the stock brakes, but if a company wanted to send me some I would try them lol. Do you not like the stock brakes?
I just got one, mine has the stars.
Interesting.. I wonder if they ran out of stars?
@@shootthechit Probably saving them for the Chinese military as they prep for WW3
Your buddy Aaron will receive his Five Star emblems in the mail from ECells...there were 68 that didn't get the badges, they know who they are, no action required from him. 🤙🏼
NCM T720 fat bikes have bad frame wobble need strengthening at bottom brckt /seat post junction.
Frame wobble? Death wobble😅
You don’t like the your wired freedom man? Wut happen?
I like my Wired Freedom. I think they make good bikes, but that comment was kind of due to JFLY and some Wired fanboys coming on my page and leaving crappy comments, so it was a little clap back. I hope they address the frame wobble though, it looks pretty bad from the videos I've seen
Yea they did mention that, but I think it should be fine once someone posts a video on how to put the brand new freedom together w/weight on the rack and see if it even wobbles..I asked someone to do that who has a channel on CZcams, he said he hasn’t had any problems w/wired or wobbles and he’d do a video when he got his new freedom bike..getting wobbles possibly because some people aren’t puttin it together correctly..yours doesn’t even wobble right?
@@benitodelrio9059 My 2023 wobbled a bit, but my 2024 freedom doesn't but the frame has flex. I don't have a new one to test
You’d never put heavy weight on the rack? I’m just goin to be careful, plannin to have 35-40lbs on the back rack
Thx for the video. Anyone seen a step star?? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?😂
I don't think the step stars have hit the streets yet, sounds like they will be around later this month but don't quote me on that
You should have parked the bikes closer to the car. All the bikes are gravitating to the mustang.
Side note all those exhaust pipes look suspect up high on the shelving.
@@think4tomorrownow Yea he had been stealing cats in his free time to make some extra money lol
spamming that like button to fund your second car!
Thanks, I really appreciate it
Wait a minute you don’t do a death wobble by holding both sides of the bike. you only do it by the handlebars. when you shook the bike side the side I saw the bike wobbling but I could be wrong, but I did see the Bike flex. Both companies are using the same frames and the factory that produced them are the same source. The problem is mainly the flex. Still a bad ass bike.
The bikes do not use the same frame from the same factory at all. The E-Cells frame is significantly heavier and sturdier than the Wired's frame. There is always going to be some flex, but its pretty minimal on the E-Cells.. You can find videos of people doing the same thing on the other bike and you will see a big difference. I hope they fix that in upcoming releases.
@@shootthechityeah. It will suck for consumers both companies produce some good looking bikes and Ecells has more customization. I’m curious in a speed test in both.
@@773Chicago I think the new Wired is faster by a few mph. I see some people reporting 41-43mph
@@shootthechit my real first e-bike was a freesky swift horse and it is a solid off-road bad looking bike. No flex in frame but it top out at 35 mph and I thought that was fast lol.
Wow that new black one has serious WOBBLE worst I've seen😳 Thats more than that Wired bike with the battery on the back. Man I'm staying out of the sub $2k price point. That furious bike and soul bike looks like much better construction. Do you know anybody with a Soul Cuda? That's my favorite so far
@@crushitcalistoga8652 lol are you mental?
@@shootthechitAbsolutely wanna see
Oh no frame wobble like that piece of shit wired freedom 😂😂😂
Your cute! making fun of a pretty big safety issue on another bike for views.
Crazy huh? It’s like he doesn’t even care about something he has nothing to do with.
