LYRICS
A common woman
Lives by The Bible
Wed-locked a prison
Of antiquation
Brings life to the earth
While losing her mind
Trying suicide
Hallucinating Satan
Forcing her own blood down
Beneath the waters to drown
Lying dead with eyes wide open
Spiraling downward
Refusing all help
Self-mutilation
Neglects the children
Dagger licks her neck
Desiring escape
Succumbing Satan
Robbed by the seventh deadly sin
Forcing her own blood down
Beneath the waters to drown
Lying dead with eyes wide open
Believing Satan was inside
Ordering to abide
To destroy her cursed children
Entrance of the Conflagration
Entrance of the Conflagration
Go!
Conditions worsen
Searching for answers
In holy scriptures
Systematic plan
Water fills the tub
All of her children
Floating lifelessly
Innocence chased down and drowned
Forcing her own blood down
Beneath the waters to drown
Lying dead with eyes wide open
Believing Satan was inside
Ordering to abide
To destroy her cursed children - Hudba
Why was this album so disliked? It has catchy riffs, great solos, and an instramental. Trivium does not have a bad album, some are just better than others. I personally love this album.
+Ryan Marr yea i agree with you for sure =) Some albums i like more songs than others
+Ryan Marr I love this album I even think that ember to inferno is better the newer stuff. But new age new tastes I guess. After Vengeance falls it was done hill lost hits edge for me.
This album was disliked because it was very different album than Ascendancy, I remember this was the first single that came out and I wasn't expecting it to sound like this, but I really enjoyed it. I always thought Unrepentant was such an underrated song off of this album as well.
Stephanie Garcia i hear you for sure! =)
+Ryan Marr 100% agree. Look at In Waves man, some of the stuff on that album was insane yet everybody seems to still hate it. Its got some of their heaviest material on it, and some ridiculously good songs.
This song is about Andrea Yates, who drowned her 5 children to death due to succumbing from depression and psychosis. In fact, a lot of songs from "The Crusade" are based on infamous murders.
Also, with the lyrical context, it fits a Thrash Metal song seamlessly. Just goes to show how great Trivium's lyrics can be.
Lastly, RIP to those beautiful 5 children. May they be at peace :(.
That's what separates Trivium from other popular metalcore bands (BFMV, A7X etc), they always had deep and meaningful lyrics and not just "You left me now I'm sad/angry" type of shit
@@r9k955 I don't know, A7X also has some interesting lyrics. BFMV is still this stereotypical thing.
R9k I wouldn’t classify a7x as metalcore maybe in there early days there more heavy metal or prog and same with bmfv I’d consider them thrash
Thanks I was just asking my wife who they are talking about. She's a murderer watcher so to speak. She said Andrea Yates and came here to look at comments. Now to ask Matt some questions on a live stream.
What the hell is Question! By SOAD about?
Since everyone is listing bands with interesting lyrics system of a down has that nailed in a coffin.
@Tom 1592009 I imagine they're referring to hell, given the repeated reference to Satan.
2:28..... So beautiful I wanna cry...
Agree 100%
So so beautiful... hope they play this tomorrow
It gives me goosebumps every time.
It needs 10 hour
Who ever dislikes this song is song something is wrong with them
2023 and almost 60 years old,..... Love Trivium,.... from beginning to present to future, I will be rockin and headbangin until I am no longer able !! 🤘🎵🎼🎶😺✌
"If anyone is wondering why the screaming is gone it's because the four of us were never into bands that scream and we don't like any of the current bands that scream, so we asked ourselves why we're doing it. The only reason I started screaming in the first place is because I sucked at singing and wanted to be the frontman of a band."
The drumming from Travis on this track is just amazing
Agree!
Alan Procter yeah my opinion he was the best for them I mean shogun was a master piece
The In Waves album also has incredible drums, the style differs but still powerful and loud as fuck rythms! But the Shogun track and album are top grade music as well :)
But now we have Mr. Alex Bent and I’d have to say he’s the best drummer Trivium has had. True that Travis has the nostalgia with three great Trivium albums under his belt but as far as pure talent goes, Alex has it all day.
@@dustynhoward6818 no denying alex has talent, but the best trivium songs and drum parts were with Travis
This is fucking amazing. This is as Thrash as it gets. Matt's voice is uncanny in it's similarity to Hetfield's. That's not an insult though, Hetfield was at the top of any metal singer's game during the Master of Puppets and Justice era. I actually think Matt is better here than James ever was in fact. Matt had more range at this time. When I listen to Pull Harder, than this, than Shogun. I really sit back and realize why Trivium is my favorite band. No matter what style they incorporate they make it top notch. Best metal band of the past 15 years easily.
MelanicDisaster damn right right brother!!!! Trivium
I think you're right. Anything they do, they do well even if you don't like it. I dont like silence in the snow but I do like vengeance falls, both are quality music for what they are it just depends. Shogun, sin and the sentence, and ascendancy are probably my top 3
@@jefferymartin5798 I think you pressed the wrong button lol
It’s 2020... and this song still slaps🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
hell yes! Awesome stuff
slaps big time!!
Of course, music doesn’t have an expiration date.
By far is the best song
It'll slap any new song
This was Trivium, that fucking great band.
It reminds me of a young/hungry Metallica. That's a very, very, good thing.
I can play this solo in my sleep, though I usually wake up afterwards....
I'm in this video with my friends. Kinda cool, 10 years later haha.
nice!!
Awesome!
Amazing.
PT how did u get into the video?
Probably a normal concert with a bunch of cameras
My fav trivium track, I just love it when the solo kicks in !
It's 2021 already and I still can't get enough of old Trivium. I will rock this forever. My all time fav band.
Same. The new stuff is a little cringey sometimes I hate to say it but still my fav. Wish they played this stuff live
Trivium as a Thrash band is fucking amazing I love Trivium no matter their style
This is one of the best songs ever composed. Period.
Yes, this sounds like Metallica. Get over it guys, it's similar than every other band out there. On the other hand, it's very good, also having its own Trivium sound. Of course their songs will sound like thier biggest influences. If I get into a successful band, my music is going to sound similar to Trivium, because I admire them as musicians.
this sound like trivium because it is.
I grew up with Metallica and it never crossed my mind these bands sound alike, but hey, maybe I just enjoy the music instead of trying to clasify and compare it
marcin skibinski I don't compare it intentionally. I hear it, and think "huh, this sounds like Metallica"
In almost every video from Trivium i watch people are saying they miss the "old" Trivium. It's not because they try something different every album they have changed. But if bands play always the same kind of stuff the fans complain that every song sounds the same... Fans always complain, no matter what the band does
I remember buying this album in 2007 and being blown away by how awesome it was. I must have listened through it over 20 times + front to back. 2007 was also the time I was getting into heavier music, like Slayer, Exodus, Sadus, Heathen, and Atrophy.
Best abnd ever for me!i love the solo.Honestly i love all the solos from trivium, very well done and very melodic!
This is one of their best albums. the solo's in this song are bad ass...
Still headbanging im 2019
Fucking 2019 is now 2020
@@andriyantch 2020??? Still thrashing to this in 2021
@@masterjar16912021???? Representing 2024 here‼️
the crusade was one of my fav albums.... its trivium.... but also reminds me of metallica before the black album!!!! plus the crusade also had an intrumental at the end....best album ever!!!
This is the song that I use when I’m working out. Put it on repeat and let’s go!!!
Sound like Metallica? These guys? You should share some of that shit that you've been smoking.
I am an occasional Trivium listener and not too familiar with 90% of their catalogue, but Trivium is a band that I can easily identify if someone were to test me. Their songs have a certain sound to them, and Matt's vocals can be easily recognized. These guys sound nowhere close to Metallica.
thank you, your not the only one who thinks like this! I listen to almost nothing but hip-hop today yet i still enjoy listening to some good old Trivium since i used to listen to alot of Metal, trivium we're one of those bands i started my metal journey with, most people start with other bands when first listening to metal but me it was these guys, and like i said i still listen to metal and still enjoy trivium, music is music so yeah damn right i'm with you :)
I started out listening to bands like Korn & Limp Bizkit, and then moved on to the more harsher stuff. Because of that, I bypassed old school bands for the most part, and to this day I don't like any of them. No Slayer, no Megadeth, no Judas Priest, No Iron Maiden, none of that stuff. Old school Metallica's the only exception.
I know your post is like 2 months old but whatever. Yes they do sound very similar to metallica not exact but similar. The reason people compare them is because their first two album were straight metal core with badass screams. Then for whatever reason they completely changed their sound to more metal, and it's obviously metallica inspired can't deny that he sings just like Hetfield. I guess instead of metal-core now they are just metal-lica.
You can't tell me this doesn't at least remind you of Metallica. It is definitely not a rip off, but there are obvious similarities.
Raheel Khan okay, so you've never listened to Metallica.
16 years ago? What the hell, man.
Another quality song by one of the best bands in the world,in fact all Trivium songs are 100% quality never found any of them lacking in detail, intensity, passion, subject matter, simply put fucking awesome band!!!! hope they continue into there 60's just like the quo and and the stones :)
I will never get enough of this song 🎸🔥🤘
My fave Trivium song.
I think that all of the Trivium albums are brilliant, Ember launched them, Ascendancy got them noticed and showed their heaviness, then they really needed to do an album different to the previous 2 because if they'd done the same thing, no one would have respected them or taken them seriously, and they would have faded away, also it showed amazing technical skill and good songwriting, then finally Shogun just took all the best bits and moulded them into one with a fresh new aspect as well. :D
I cant pick a favorite album, they all are amazing.
Honestly top 10 solos of all time in my mind. And yes this is going among the ranks of Queen, BtBaM, etc. This just... has so much raw emotion beyond showing off how fast and proficient one can play. I can feel the pain.
This band is good, awesome riff's and solos
my favourite song by Trivium!I first listened it in a metal/rock bar,and then it just stucked in my head.!Long live Trivium \m/
Best Trivium album by far, the whole thing is EPIC!!!
Trivium!!...the Machine of interlacing awesome riffss and guitar solos!
It sounds like Metallica, yeah, whole "The Crusade" album sounds like Metallica. So what? Metallica influenced Trivium, they decided to make a thrash metal album, so where's the problem if they use Metallica style?
TheFrayedEndsOfSanity 01 i've never thought it sound like metallica
TheFrayedEndsOfSanity 01 metallica que chingue a su madre esta mejor megadeth ❗❗
TheFrayedEndsOfSanity 01 Aguante Megadeth vieja no me importa nada :,v
It's just thrash. Metallica are the thrash pioneers so people say they sound like Metallica. They also sound like slayer, like megadeth... They just sound thrash
What? They are way better than Metallica
I god damn fuckin love this song and this band so much. This is so underrated
This song is great. Fantastic drum work driving forward
i appear to be the only one that thinks the crusade is as good as all the others. oh well i love this shit :)
I cannot choose which of their albums I like better... Their four albums are all too good! and I don'y know why most people hate the crusade! It's very good album
Not hate, I think people was caught by surprise. The direction it went was different than the previous album. But now I think people will start to appreciate this album more.
Trivium were ahead of their time when they released this album. If they would have released it in 2012, during the height of the Thrash resurgence, it would have exploded.
But it leaves the small community to cherrish this
I love this albums and band...
One of the best song ever played !!!
Damn, I wish this song was longer. It goes by so fast. But, I guess part of the intensity of the song comes from putting so much complexity in such a short song.
Still one of my favorite songs. This album was my ish too.
Wow, I'm really glad that they chose an audience I can connect with for this video.
You could probably count the number of people in that crowd who don't live with their parents on one hand.
Love this song. It was my fave seeing them live in Birmingham on 4 days ago
this riff at 1:37-2:05 is godly
Amazing song!!! Amazing riffs!!! Super skill of TRIVIUM \m/
one of my fav songs by trivium.
ahh they were so amazing last friday!
rock on trivium!
2:28 I’ll just use this as a replay button…
same man
Holy shit, 10 years already ...
I discovered Trivium during the pandemic lockdown, I saw that live stream on Twitch and was hooked, I love this band!!!♥️♥️♥️
Shogun and the crusade are my favorite albums by them. I love the is song!
surprised this hasn't more views! It's one of their best songs
2:37 to 3:16 are probably one of the best solos Trivium has ever written
i like both of them, there both two of my favorite bands.
yesss your right.. i thought it was heavy before... now its actually calming.
I personally think that this is the best album that they have ever done like you said they have not made a bad album
Being a Thrash Fan, I love The Crusade :)
Together with Shogun it is my favorite Trivium-Album and it is very underrated.
I hope my english is alright. I am from Germany xD
I have a reccuring dream of me and my buddy playing this onstage in front of thousands. Melting faces with the solos. So awesome from 2:28 on...
Metal hasn't been this good ever since!
its not easy to hit the "like" button while rocking to this song!
the best song of the trivium
Travis will always be the best drummer Trivium ever had and it’s a shame that things went down like they did
This is the first trivium song that i heard. Then i love all of trivium album
Despues de 14 años de haberlo escuchado, aqui estoy, disfrutando...
I seem to forget Paolo kept long hair during The Crusade days :P
Lol.You mean, like, any hair :p after being bald for at least the last 4 years. :P
he had long hair up until the end of the shogun run
Man this takes me back, used to have this Trivium T-shirt I loved wearing to middle school haha
One of the first metal songs I listened to!
Very good song, Becoming the Dragon owns everything else on this album though. And after listening to really intense Children of Bodom, I can finally hear and appreciate Travis's BR00TAL blastbeats.
this is seriously underrated
Trivium really NEED to be as big now as they were when this record came out. PERIOD.
I still dont get how this sounds like Metallica? If this is a ripoff, then every metal band without screaming is a metallica ripoff.
you should listen to Metallica
Are you kidding? This is the most Hetfield-ish singing I've ever heard from anyone who is not Hetfield himself.
I love this song but I can't say it doesn't sound a lot like Metallica to me.
Demonbart look up "cult" by evile... sounds just like james
Demonbart That was exactly what I was thinking! Very... "Hetfield-esque"!
Who cares? Matt has come out and said he was influenced greatly by Metallica. Song sounds similar, big whoop. It is still a great song.
This is gold !
Their best album in my opinion by far. Great band, great song!! :D
I love this band, these guys have been twice to the chav wasteland that is Stoke on Trent where I live, to show what Metal is all about!!!!!!
Tony.................Auroris............
Went to High School with Corey Beaulieu.. Foxcroft Academy.. the "fighting ponies" haha.. he was like a grade or two below me :)
From Maine eh? Wonder how he ended up all the way in Florida.
Mert Okatan
I remember from an interview he briefly talked about life before Trivium and how he used to just sit around and practice guitar all day until one day Trivium just picked him up before they started writing material for 'Ascendancy'.
Did this band inspire anyone to play guitar?
I think I am obsessed with that song!I listened it to a metal club and now...I am obsessed !
One day, maybe millions of years into the future, people will mature enough to stop calling everything that doesn’t exactly match a very particular type of sound as “sellouts” or “posers,” and just enjoy music for what it is. I’ve definitely seen vast improvement in that regard since the early-mid 2010’s, but make no mistake, metal elitists still abound. Hopefully one day that will change for good.
This song and album are absolutely killer, btw.
I loved the Crusade, but I think Shogun was their masterpiece. It combined their thrash sound with their metalcore sound. Metal perfection.
Why doesn't Trivium play any of this live anymore? All I've seen on their setlists is Becoming the Dragon.
i think it is because matt can't reach those vocals anymore
***** When I started listening to trivium this was my favorite album, now I think is shogun, but this album is so underrated
I believe they play this song now. Not as good, but still play it.
Killer jam. I love this version of the band.
Whow. Love the diminished arpegios.
They do have a good notion of what metalcore is supposed to be.
+HarvesterOfSorrow01 yeah trivium is probably the most not-hated metalcore band ever. they started off with a bit of death metal- metalcore-lish first album which imo is still amazing and then transcended into thrash-metalcore.. early killswitch engage and trivium is what metalcore must be..
No cabe duda que Travis era el alma de TriviuM en ese entonces... que recuerdos.
i love trivium,i have three favourite bands basically: Trivium,Cradle Of Filth and Lamb Of God.but trivium is the best, keep supporting metal mates !
That's the best song by trivium especially like the crusade👍💯
1:47 to rest of the solo, Judas Priest -Painkiller came into mind
+Daniel Guerrero i was just about to post that it does remind me of painkiller very much
2:29 Remind me of Electric Eye
@2:05 it's the power rangers theme lol
Great riffs and guitar solos!!!
My favorite album by trivium
Remember when an early Metallica was also known as the American Motorhead?
Without doubt, Trivium is the best descendant of Megadeth and Metallica. I mean Thrash Metal.
Trivium is not a descendant of Metallica nor megadeth there way different in style of music
@@Bloorgusgoorge they influenced them,
Matt was influenced by Metallica
Corey was Megadeath
Trivium, like : Dream theater + in flames + metallica/exodus. They are mixing all metal elements
trivium is a band that will never die...this band will live forever they kick some major ass and you can never get dissapointed with there music its allways fast passed and has amazing riffs and drum beats...i love this band...
17 years since this was released man I feel old
I have this on my daily playlist 😂
One of the best metal acts today. Yeah, they're influenced by Metallica, but since Metallica waved bye bye to metal after the Black Album, I'd say it's a fair trade. They remind me more of early Megadeth, to be honest. Their riffs are just mean and I love them for it. Dimebag would be proud. Other great bands out right now are Gojira and Killswitch Engage (with Howard singing). METAL FOREVER!
