    Fly fishing in Patagonia offers a diversity of rainbow and brown trout streams to fly fish. The dry fly fishing begins early and runs the entire fly fishing season. In this video we join our fly fishing guide on a Patagonia trout stream, casting small dry flies to willing rainbow and brown trout. There are some gorgeous scenes in this video as we get the cameras in tight, filming slow motion and drone shots of rainbows & brown trout eating dry flies in Patagonia.

      Keith is right. I my self am from SW Scotland UK aswell. . dull ,wet, and windy. Typical Jan winter day. 🙄 . You do get some fantastic weather. Looks like the best filming and drone work out there. I love ❤ all the slow motion and the way u use it to show of the fish when it eats and the final take. It is truly spectacular to watch on camera. It has to be some thing else when your standing there in person and the reel sounds of and the line tightens lol 😆. The old ticker pumps faster lol lol. Nothing in this world 🌎 will come close to it. Stunning work.That pod from the drone was stacked with fish. Never seen anything like it. 👍 🤜🤛🤜🤛👍.......can't wait to get back out. I notice that sometimes when I see you set your hook, as opposed to doing the general trout set, (like lifting it up) you set but also keeping the end low. Is there a particular reason you do that?

    • @jensenflyfishing
      @jensenflyfishing  Před 2 lety

      Great to hear and good for you :) The #1 thing I don't do is lift a high rod - always angled to the side to offset the directionality of the take itself. If all you do is lift you'll miss a lot of fish whereas an offset setting will connect far more often.

    just amazing! BUT i´m wondering if patagonian people/fishers who live (here) in Patagonia can access to this place (an others like this)..... wihout paying...just for the pleassure to fish. Rivers/lakes/lagoons acces has became an exclusive top lodge bussines. SO SAD.

    • @jensenflyfishing
      @jensenflyfishing  Před 2 lety

      In 9 full weeks of fishing nearly every day, we noticed that every piece of water we fished could be legally accessed. Some locations might require a long hike or camping out but literally everything was publicly accessible. The lodges and guides do have contact and accesses they pay for but it's not like you couldn't quite easily walk to this reach of water. The lower end of the water in this video is only 4.2 km from a bridge, easily walked for those motivated.

    It's sad to see misguided sportsmanship in the world, you should leave areas like that alone, as they are untouched and the last refuge of nature, there a plenty of local areas to fish, even catch and release fishing does harm. Worse yet are the trophy sportsmen that do it just for fun.

      That's an interesting take and has 100% validity in principle. But for a second let's back things up 150 years to when these fish were stocked and why - for sport and our enjoyment. Fast back forward to today - notice that there are fences and houses all along the river? Along every road? Along every field? Let us ask you - is there an inch of land, water or ice on the planet that isn't managed to the projection human values? National Parks & Refuges wouldn't exist without human value, nor would any other land management. And that's simply from a catch & release angler's perspective of the planet. Now let's just look at it as a laymen's perspective - the world has bowed to humans at every turn. It would be wonderful to think that our or your "my" version of sportsmanship or conservation could be washed over humanity or that we could change the direction of our species' herd, but given the above and how close to a major city in Patagonia we are in this video, that ship has sailed. There are wonderful protections in place on this river and those should sustain this generation so the coming ones can pick up the mantle into the future. All the best.
