Love love love this hike! A few years ago, it took my friend and me (both in our late 60’s) three times to make it to Chasm-first time, bad weather rolled in, second time, exhaustion at Chasm Junction, third time: made it! Thanks for bringing back happy memories, and happy birthday!

MAN! Envy you in a good way. Love RMNP, here is Florida not much...but I frequent AT, Falls. Me and wife just came back, we did the Basic Emerald Lake, Dream, Nymph lake. Miracolously , it did snow briefly at elevations even more. We are from Florida, and of course I was in Awe of the beauty and majestic scenery. I definetly will be back...and try this trail. Keep Trekking!
Happy Birthday. I really enjoy your videos. We just got back from Estes Park. We didn’t get to hike as it came 11” of snow the day we got there. I also wanted to say what special relationship you have with your parents. Enjoy them as long as you can. They seem to be around my age.
I made this hike in 1994, although my route at the very end was slightly different as I scaled up the boulders to Chasm Lake. I had lunch on a rock overlooking the lake, with a number of marmots trying to get me to share that lunch. There were several climbers ascending along that east face of Long's when I was up there. That would be a very strong "NO" for me. Thise images are stunning. As always, thanks for sharing your hiking adventures.
Beautiful video as always, Mr. Sangetta! What a difference between the "real" trail and the snowfield trail. I turned 46 in September! I gave up in this hike this past Summer. I was NOT prepared! I made it to the Chasm/Longs/Battle Mountain split, but I was so weak that I had to turn around. 😭 Next Summer for sure!!!

Good reminder to check my winter gear and have crampons with me. Amazing day to be out there. I love the way the sun hits the lakes to bring out the colors 😊

Never did estes cone from east portal today as originally planned had to take my 3 year old to the doctor for physical.. however him and i hiked up old man mountain for his first mountain summit. It was awesome. He did great. Great video as always. And hope u enjoyed your birthday to the fullest!!

Awesome video! Trying to decide between this hike or Hallett Peak for next month. I have learned from experience with my body and my autoimmune condition, I can endure the pain and I can force the stamina, but the breathing is what gets me every time. In that thinner air, I struggle. I may have to just bring two full Boost Oxygen bottles on this hike, and go for it. I think if I pace myself, I can do it!
I think Chasm is a little easier than Hallett. If you can get a hold of an inhaler you might try taking a puff before the hike. That might help your breathing. Good luck man! Maybe I will run into ya again.
Chad Pallansch was a FoCo native and an ultrarunner. His disappearance is a weird one. SAR searched for him near Alice/Chiefs Head/Stoneman Pass for 2 weeks and couldn’t find anything. Hopefully one day some hiker will stumble upon something and give his family closure

It was such a good day. The thing I remember most about the Loft hike was how dang tired I was! This hike reminded me of Iron Gates too. You look right up st them from the Chasm Lake area.
Yeah my mom triggers the TDS sufferers with her hanky. But I make an effort to keep it clean. In my last video I named a rock 'Joe Biden Rock' because I said it looked like a f*cking potato. But I edited that part out.
Oh dang. Well, guess I forgot to clear my hiking apparel with the TDS folks first! But, I was taught when growing up, that if you don’t like it…..DON’T LOOK. 🙄

Absolutely love this hike. I've done it several times, even in the snow. And walked across frozen Chasm Lake last year.

That was the hike where I found out that I get altitude sickness somewhere between 11,200 and 11,500 feet.
Yeah need spikes and trail is slanted so if you fall you may go down aways
Where are all of the people? I've never been on this trail without hoards of people. That includes all of the way to the top of Long's Peak.
