    I have gotten to the point where i watch your tutorials to modules i dont own and dont plan on buying, just because they are more entertaining than anything youtube recommends to me.

    Finally got around to learning give Gazelle. Have to say, after flying the Mi-24 Hind for the last year, flying gazelle is a breeze. It’s also a lot more fun zipping in and out of cover.
    As for a second crewman and autohover, I find it’s easier if I put it into a hover myself and Trim it. Then I switch to the copilot seat and operate the Hot-3 site with the smaller side stick on my throttle while continuing to control the cyclic. Don’t need to mess with collective once I’m trimmed and only need a little pedal to swing her around. It’s an easy helicopter to hover with so it’s not a challenge to use my thumb to move a little stick around.

    If you turn on pedal trim in the settings, and trim the aircraft before putting it into auto hover, you can take your feet off the pedals and the hover is a lot more stable.

    I was doing the same recently & the autohover was more threat than the target. Very fussy. I found it easier to just hover myself

    Nice video. Maybe try next time with nicely trimmed relatively slow forward flight. Torque changes from pedal input will be too much for the auto hover parameters, I guess. Thanks for showing the laser with the periscope. Didn't know, there is one. I thought, I had to guestimate range with the cross hairs relative to target size.

    I have found the best way to slow to a hover is bomb along at 120kts, then suddenly pull full right cyclic, full right pedal and drop the collective, before restoring the collective a couple of seconds later. The Gazelle spins all over the place, but then stabilises into a slow and level enough flight to easily engage auto hover.

    This heli needs an AI crew member for A-G ops. It’s (for me) the only off-putting thing about it.

    • @thomaslamont3237
      @thomaslamont3237 Před 5 měsíci

      Yup!! For sure .. on my own I seem to only be able to engage the auto hover successfully 1 out of 10 times ... other times it is the situation is like deehack's experience in the video. Otherwise this is very fun helo to fly and fight with ... Polychop has made great strides to improving it, hopefully more to come.

      AI WSO or until that ist available Just the old Auto Hover mode.
      The Update really killed that Module for me. I dont fly the gazelle anymore.

    • @Slaintemaith
      @Slaintemaith Před 4 měsíci

      @@roadrebell2632 today's update literally made it unflyable for me. The rudder also imparts twitchy inputs to the top rotor.
      This means death.

      @sandman11 Před 4 měsíci

      I always loved the Gazelle and it’s much better now after the updates. I no longer try to hover. It’s much more stable to hit and run as I do with the Hind. Just work on one target at a time. Hopefully they bring back a stable auto hover for us single player players.

      @Cocokingable1 Před 10 dny

      Entire module could be fixed with the Kiowa's AI system, stuff like this is the entire reason i dont use the gazelle. DCS is a niche game, most players are solo anyways, so multiseat aircraft need a good stable system to allow 1 person to run the aircraft effectively. The Kiowa system is so smooth and intuitive its crazy how good it is, its the best feeling chopper in game currently, full stop.

  • @Cocokingable1
    @Cocokingable1 Před 10 dny

    Polychop needs to add the AI from the Kiowa to the Gazelle, its such a great system for two seater choppers. Gazelle truly needs it to employ weapons like this, games 90% solo players anyways.

    I was under the impression that the auto hover and slave modes were taken out for them to get some work done. I really appreciate these vids, brother. Thank you. I will have to check out the F-18 ones and viggen ones aswell because I got alot of my ED plate......sigh

    Good vid DeepHack at trying to teach...People are giving up on the Gazelle trying to get it to hover...This hover is crazy and most do not have someone to fly and someone to gun...Why is Polychit making it so hard...this is still a sim, and not the French military...The Gazelle used to be my favorite...not now!

    Been playing the Gazelle tonight and I was getting the very same happening with the auto hover. Pretty sure it must be a bug, it's almost as though one of the controls is double bound although I couldn't find any. Ended up just getting into a stable manual hover then jumping into the copilot seat.

    • @deephack

      As is often the case multi-crew is so much easier and more fun. Always recommend filling the seats.

  • @rcboffa
    @rcboffa Před 2 měsíci +1

    The reason you keep losing control is because you're not holding altitude in the hover. Auto hover doesn't not control power. Watch you altitude and make sure your not climbing or decending.

    • @Kaneguy
      @Kaneguy Před 7 měsíci

      I agree. I flew it quite heavily before the FM change but lost interest in her because of the recent FM changes. Although the FM prior to the change was a bit qwerky, it was predictable. Now even when I've got her into a stable hover, she remain stable for a moment and then go nuts and squirrely without warning and without movement of any of the controls.Also, she tends to suddenly topple over without warning when transitioning to stationary like Dolly Parton in high heels suddenly tripping over her dress. I can understand a gradual increase in the flop but there's no gradual come-on. It turns on like a light switch.

    • @vracan
      @vracan Před 4 měsíci

      @@Kaneguy gazelle still feels arcadey to me with the bonus of being squirrely at times but still, better than before so I actually fly it now
