It's been two years and I still wanna know why Deidre didn't want the big bowl back.

Good news! The writer wrote a book, "Erin's Diary", in which a letter from Deidre to Mary is shown and she explains why she didn't want the big bowl. Apparently nobody in her house did the dishes so she started to slowly give away all the dishes (including the big bowl) because 'if they don't clean up after themselves, they can eat off the fecking floor like the animals they are.'

I totally get Mary’s obsession with the bowl..I still think about why Deidre didn’t want the bowl anymore lol.
And I quote “very sophisticated noses, John” way too much. Orla is my favorite!

I have to laugh because up until this moment my brain automatically registered Jenny’s gift as a flat screen tv even though it definitely wouldn’t have been 😆 loll

Also, the boy, Orla and James were sharing, was in Game of Thrones too!

The dubbing thing at 2:20 is a weird product of a legal loophole in the broadcasting censorship of the time.
News programs in the UK were prohibited from broadcasting recordings of statements by various Irish nationalist orgs including the Sinn Fein party. However, they were permitted to report the words said, so a lot of the time they would just have someone else read the statement over muted video footage.

Another fun fact GOT wise: james and orla's protestant was also in game of thrones. He was the little boy who stabbed jon snow. 😊

I've been waiting for this episode. You are so right, the length of the series is not enough, however this is very common in British drama's and comedy shows, they tend to go out on a high and have a definitive story arc. As ever I love your analysis and humour and the way you show comedy can cut across all cultures and divides. Also to explain Gerry Adams, the British government essentially didn't want to give him a platform to espouse his anti British and pro republican views, so they were like we can just dub him.... Yeah that's the our government for you :p. Also Catholics would consider them Irish and Protestant British, The Troubles were as much a political as a religious war.

Omg I just commented (and deleted) about fleabag lol. I love Derry Girls and so few reactors watch it. Genuine out-loud belly laughs. Same for Fleabag, which I why I got so excited when you started that one too.

A nice Easter egg in the show is that after Claire comes out, the girls where rainbow buttons on their school blazers as a sign of solidarity.

Take this with a grain of salt, but internet augers say the actors playing Claire and her Protestant (the half deaf one) dated.
