Is it just me but I can never see the point in collecting rare cars and just leaving them to rot away .at least get them under cover

Not especially rare and well beyond economical repair even for a RS nut
They were all 500 quid or less cars at one point . Mk5 xr3i with a failed mot back in the day was a 50 quid car .
More likely all brought as parts cars or projects . Then very often owners health or financial circumstances change suddenly.
Only you two would say your best day out was visiting a grave yard on a minus 3 day and look so HAPPY . You such a unique fab couple Have a HAPPY Christmas

Some proper old skool classics there sadly left to rot. That MK2 GTi at the beginning of the video I’d like to think is saveable. I’d love another 3i again and wish I never got rid of mine 15 yrs ago. Great vid guy’s

@@thedipmonkeygarage had a mk3 cabby, mk4 cabby and a RS1600i Mk3 obviously back in the day it wasn’t worth owt and needed a good bit of welding. Makes me cry thinking about it now seeing how rare they are & what they are worth 😂👍

This video has really surprised me. I normally get distracted and watch something else (for my kid's) but they said nothing and we sat through this entire video in amazement. Such a shame these aren't being used.Up in Aberdeen a lot of folk had the rs2000 due to the oil industry,Grest video guys my first watch 👍

My dad till 5 years ago had a mk5 xr3i in black ..only had 32,000 miles on it one owner car running driving,full history and mots etc ..the local ford garage gave him pennys for it..many happy memories in that car.
His mate had a red RS 2000 MK 5 bought at the same time.
Dad was due to due to buy a cosworth escort but in 1992 but then his job and job changed so uncertain times and he cancelled. It had a private plate on we took off so dont know if the XR still survives to this day I hope it does.
I missed buying a one owner RS1600i in 1997 for £1000 ,running driving survivor...the things we do.

Premiums at the times the prices of these for so long stayed very low!

Had a set of them lexis lights on my B back in the day. Lol
Mk3’s didn’t have bonnet vents, the colour is diamond white and the wheelarch kit came on the turbos.
Aside that the guy needs help, what a state his place is in and the once decent cars are junk now due to the way he has ‘stored’ them.
I’m sure it’s rosso red 1986 onwards, had plenty of both over the years
130 bhp xr3i had discs on the back as well. 105 bhp xr3i had drums.
Rs turbo was only 130bhp

He should sell them and the spares on before they end up in a skip, the white mk3 escort looked like a s1 rs turbo and the nova had gte trim inside
Also not just the rs2000 had discs on the rear the mk5 xr3i did on the 130bhp model the 105 hp didnt.
That blue xr3i may of had rear discs as it had 130 wing back seats
Makes me feel better that I'm hoarding old cars now =) is he storing car parts and hoarding or looking to sell ? If the prices was right I'd be interested in buying the mk2 vw golfs I'd be happy to move the other toys to get them lol lot of work bur worth it

He won’t do anything with that stuff, like all these hoarders, they just let the stuff rot into the ground

the oval shaped escort rs2000 was a mk6 not an mk5
Mk5b. Had the oval grill in the bonnet, not seperate grill to bonnet. Mk6 didn’t have the line in bumpers also amongst many other things. Back lights and spoiler very much the same though!
Mirrors are mk5 also not mention the tiny square indicators. Mk6 oval indocators and oval mirrors
The mk6 also never had indicators in the bumper on the rs2k and headlights were one piece on a mk6
Its not just you I also can't seem the point buying them to watch them rot🙄.
Life changing circumstances is all I can say to explain… without going into to details the owner doesn’t want publishing. Sadly something happened that was more important than the cars. How ever these were never intentionally left to rot! On the plus side I know in 2023 many of these are coming out for some restoration work!

Mk5-6. I never had them down as common! And they weren’t so many near us 😎 must of had 6/7 escorts myself but never managed an rs2000! 🤣 and agreed mate, these older cars bring back many memories for us all 😎👍

the most expensive car there in the poor condition they are is about 5k...whats there,20 cars,thats 100 grand..restored prob worth double..a lot of work for no great return..2 escort cosworths would be a better bet..with no hassle..
you can do my yard sometime...theres 36 escorts,all 2 door,some bmw`s,audi, mitsubishi`s, moggi`s..think i know that purple turbo cabrio as i still have 1 in red the same guy built..by the way .that white mk3 is a series 1 turbo not a 3i..mk3 xr3 didnt have a wheel arched bodykit nor did they have bonnet vents...but super nice vid you guys done..

When you buy cars and leave them to rot, you are NOT a collector. You are a hoarder. Whilst it is up to individuals what they do with their own money and property, do not confuse proper car collectors with people like this. These videos are just painful to watch.
The owner was and still is a car collector but due to very unfortunate life circumstances progression with the restoration was put on hold for a number of years. All to commence again in 2023. Please take into consideration that we have been polite and respectful in regards to the owners private life and circumstances that are not be be broadcasted across the internet. Poor health, family situations etc could all be a possible factor and that is not for anyone to judge on. Please be kind. 😁😁
