Can't wait to see Dr. Bashir in HD. Love DS9 & I wanna see it in HD, eventually. Hopefully they'll get started on it after Season 7 comes out.

I hope you're listening CBS, because we want DS9 on Blu-Ray next when you've finished with TNG.

How GLORIOUS did Deep Space Nine look?
I truly hope Paramount gives the same Blu-Ray treatment to Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. Imagine seeing the Dominion War in full HD glory... I'm wetting myself thinking about it.

I was honestly surprised to learn they haven't released DS9, Voyager or Enterprise on Blu-Ray. (I was always more into TNG and TOS, so I really have no reason to complain. It just seems odd).

I wish they were in widescreen as well.

It was the 80s. It was composed for broadcast in 4:3 "full screen". HD & 16:9 were only rumors die-hard geeks knew of.
If they put these in 16:9, we'd actually LOSE 20% of the picture, and the original intent of the composition would be lost.
Granted, it was shot on 35mm film, that could technically be widescreen, but as footage has shown, since there was never any intention of showing widescreen, where there are black bars on this blu ray, on the original negative there were LIGHTS, stands, production crew, ect.
      .
On the other hand, Babylon 5 was made only 7 years later, around the time TNG ended, and even THEY had the forethought to shoot in 16:9 for possible future showings, even tho it was mostly presented in 4:3.
i.e. Paramount & TNG executives were stupid & never thought ahead (ironic considering it's a futuristic space show)

Yeah. They never thought to shoot it, with the foresight to have it be possible to put it into widescreen, like the Babylon 5 producers did, as you said. It's a bit sad. The only TNG stuff we'll ever see in widescreen, are the movies & the Enterprise series finale "These Are the Voyages..." I, as well as many other fans, consider that more of a TNG episode, than Enterprise. I hope they didn't shoot DS9 &/or Voyager this way. There are possible plans to do this with DS9, as we see in the video, they COMPLETELY gave the DS9 station a GREAT HD makeover & Julian Bashir appears in an episode of this season, so if they possibly use that CGI render of the DS9 station in the remastering of the DS9 series, which I think would cut down on 25% of the CG work they'd have to do, it's possible to FINALLY see DS9 in HD in the future. No pun intended.

Scsigs actually they DID shoot it 16x9.. the problem is all the effects were done in video @ 4x3... so even though they have the effects originals to re-master, they were never done in 16x9, so they decided to keep it 4x3 rather than try to digitally add effects that would be missing on either side

Even if the effects shots WERE shot in 4:3, I think they could've converted it to 16:9, by altering the starfield. And again, they shot it in 16:9, but with the knowledge & intention of going to 4:3, as was the TV standard at the time, so they put mics, lights, & other stuff in the shots, then converted it to 4:3 in post, covering up those stray things. Your argument is invalid.

+Scsigs As for DS9 & Voyager, as far as I know, they were shot the same as TNG, and since they were originally in 4:3 TV standard, producers rarely like to alter teh director's composition of shots, which they would be doing if they cropped.
The Enterprise finale w/ TNG footage cropped out footage to make it fit in 16:9, which I would NOT want to see on DS9 or Voyager, I prefer the way it was filmed, just exported onto better resolution. Then again, they did muck w/ TOS in the remastered crapfest, so who knows if Paramount will bow to the kiddies & crop it into 16:9 haha
