  • I bought a new diesel injector tester and thought you might like to see it, so I topped it up with creme de menthe (like what the Pope drinks), and tested the injectors from the 175. As expected, they were rubbish.
If you want one like it you can buy one from here:
    uk.vevor.com/injector-nozzle-...
I am not associated with them in any way, but it seems like a good product at a reasonable price.

Takes me back this does. As an old diesel injection mech who has probably overhauled and reconditioned thousands of those injectors; the cracking pressure should be 175 atmospheres if memory serves; around 2500 psi. The nozzles are the BDLL type that are very recondition-able with the right equipment.

I haven't seen one of them in action since about 1985 when l was at agricultural college.
We were on a workshop day and the instructor was discussing injectors and the fuel system.
He did a test on a good injector off some tractor or another and he demonstrated the power of diesel by a slow pump producing liquid diesel that didn't ignite on a naked flame as l held a burning piece of paper.
He then did a quick pump to produce diesel vapour and the blast of flame was impressive. He also mentioned the danger of diesel mist under pressure on skin.
None us had PPE and as far as l know, everyone is still alive today that was on that course with me.
    Interesting stuff young man!

Hi, the injectors I tested pop off at 1900 - 2100psi from factory. I'm going to do an update where I test against a new set. Also, I was going to test against a calibrated hydraulic test kit that I use to see how good the gauge is.
I deliberately used that set of injectors because at this stage, they are pretty much scrap. In case you don't know the history, they came off a tractor that was badly neglected, had been under water for an unknown period of time and also stood in a hedge for several years afterwards. I hoped they would exhibit several possible problems. They didn't disappoint.
