I was there that Sunday, though a bit tardy because I forgot to set my clock an hour ahead the night before! Though I remember much of the oratory here, I didn't realize until watching this that they played "Chicken Farm". This was months before the song saw release on their Frankenchrist album, so of course I wouldn't have recognized it at the time. The singer for New Jersey group Bodies in Panic stands guard on the stage here.
@@Punkanova While it was amazing, seeing Jello speak at NYU till 3 in the morning was possibly even better. They also played at some boxing venue in the worst section of North Philthy called The Blue Horizon: www.abandonedamerica.us/blue-horizon-boxing-philadelphia Those were the days.
I've just finished "No Stage Diving, No Slam Dancing..." book. Now I look at some of the footage. What an experience must have been to be to one of those concerts, like this one.
The last time I went to visit the City Gardens site, it was vacant and it looked like it had been an "Urban Club". I don't know the year it stopped being City Gardens, my last trip there was around 1990 to see the Cramps... Lux ended the show naked and hanging upside down from the pipes behind the stage with the mike down his throat... he was a true rock and roll showman to the very end. City Gardens will always have a special place in my fart.
yes.. wise words jello... i wish security wasnt as tight as how it is these days..we are so controlled its sad.. but i love this..i appreciate every bit...
This was the most intense show ever at CG’s (The Calhoun Ballroom) I was actually off, Randy gave me the night off, I dove head first and got stuck upside down and it took a good two minutes to touch the floor with my hands it was so packed it was impossible to fall!
Why is it never anyone who can actually sing that grabs the mic? It's usually on the chorus of California uber alles, which is hardly even singing, It's just shouting, it wouldn't kill them to do it in key. Great video though, thanks for this!
Simon Smith no, not this show, and not his skull, it was his arm, you couldn’t hit the floor, at the suicidal show no one was catching stage divers! Lots of trauma! Lol
I saw that happen. It was the November 1985 DK's show, he flew right into the middle of the pit nobody caught him but his boot caught somebody's head making him go ass over teakettle. his mohawk hit first and was sadly crushed not to get up again (haha) then his head and it was his collarbone that got broken ( I was friends with his little brother so I got the medical report on that one) and then his 'rents sued city gardens much to the displeasure of both brothers
Pretty sure I was at this show. Legendary band, legendary club!
I remember your face.
