  • On this week’s episode of the Escape Your Limits Podcast, Jerry Brainum is returning for his second interview by popular demand. He has a distinguished background as a competitive bodybuilder who trained alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger during the 70s.
Beyond his achievements in bodybuilding, he boasts over 30 years of experience in researching and writing about all aspects of fitness. His remarkable career includes serving as the editor of Muscle and Fitness magazine for a decade, as well as being an editor-at-large for Flex magazine and a regular contributor to Ironman magazine for 28 years.
In our last interview, he debunked the truth of steroids, bodybuilding, and the deathly effects of “safe supplements.”
    Today, he passionately shares:
    • The drawbacks of Ozempic and other fat loss burners as a weight loss solution
    • The only drug that is known to extend lifespan even in middle-age people
    • And the science behind creatine, where it comes from, and whether it is necessary to phase on and off the supplement

Jerry is absolutely right. I'm on Mounjaro (a GLP-1 & GIP activator). My A1c went from 9 to 4.8 and I've lost about 10 pounds. I was worried about losing muscle mass so I started working out and am now seeing muscle gains. (Yeah, you've got to put in the effort, as well as take creatine and protein.) Only thing I disagree with Jerry about is that Ozempic and Mounjaro don't have to be lifelong drugs for weight loss. IF dieters learn how to eat properly -- a big IF -- they can learn how to maintain their target weight without semaglutide, etc.. Secondly, these GLP drugs have been tested for several years now with tens of thousands of people, so it is doubtful any new contra-indications will be found in the long term.

3:40 *Insert Murican healthcare meme here.* In EU it is around 100 Euro for 2+ month worth of Semaglutide made by Novo Nordisk when paid out of pocket. And it is free for diabetics in a lot of EU countries.

Yeah but in America we have guns and you don't. Who needs life saving drugs when you can legally buy and carry guns. I mean, guns will protect us.

Question * If Semaglutide has been used for diabetes treatment and stabilizing, isn't there a long study on it?
If Semaglutide had been developed for weight loss and found to be beneficial for diabetes, then there wouldn't be a concern. But because it is there other way around, it's questionable.
On a special note, I consider Semaglutide a life saver for people with serious weight issues, especially when a doctor says get the weight off or never meet your grandchild.
There's hope for that stubborn weight along with healthy eating and consistent exercising.

Yes, nearly all, not everything this guy said was hyperbolic and exaggerated. For instance I get a 20 week supply to include the needles and prep pads for $350.. thats $1,100 a year.. not the $12,000 he claims. There are 55 long term efficacy and safety studies going back to at least 2001 and many farther. Google proves him wrong over and over again along with personal experience. Yet comments are praising this dudes nonsense.

The trouble is some people are too fragile to do regular weight training. Many obese people are too inflamed and could get articular injuries. Or simply burn out cause they lack stamina. Body weight might be more appropriate sometimes, at the beginning. And with a lot of care and caution, always.

Except he was hyperbolic. This stuff cost roughly $100 a month at any men's or womans clinic.. or $1,100/year.. not the $1000 a month or $12,000/yr he claims.. and there are at least 55 long term studies going back to 2001 and many farther on its efficacy and safety.. Google will prove much of what he said wa ls exaggerated truth.

I find this talk interesting……..I have dropped 26-30 lbs …not on this drug but by doing vitamin drips and NAD+ injections…loosing weight was not on my radar I just needed to feel better ….once one gets the trace minerals and vitamins , back in order with or with out NAD+ injections the liver cleans up everything starts to function as it was designed to and boom…weight comes off…ect…

This guy exaggerates.. I get a 20 week supply for $350 from evolve men's clinic. This includes the needles and alcohol pads. Inject 1xper week.
That comes out to about $1,100 per YEAR NOT MONTH. Still expensive, but if you are struggling to lose, you will. But $1,100 a year is way different than $12,000 a year he claims.
