Is Fruit Good or Bad for You?

  • Fruit has been 'advertised' to us as being good for us.
It is marketed to us in nature and by the food industry. Is it really good for us or are we just succumbing to fruit and the food industry for their benefit, not ours?
How much of the goodness have we been told to believe?
Listen with an open mind and make your own conclusion.
This talk was part of a 2015 Science Week debate.

This is so concerning. When I was a kid, I ate HUGE amounts of fruit. If we were hungry we had fruit. Mum had a copy of the Pritikan diet. There was nothing in the house to eat that didn't need to be boiled for 3 hours before it could be eaten, except mum kept a case of apples or oranges by the kitchen door. I would easy eat 6-7 apples a day. My siblings didn't eat as much fruit as I did. In my late twenties, I was told my liver was so fatty that I shouldn't drink alcohol, because I protested and said I didn't drink much at all, they told me I shouldn't drink any at all. It wasn't wine :(

I feel ya. Fructose may or may not cause health problems for some, just like alcohol may or may not cause health problems for some, but the effects of fructose are so well evidenced and documented, except the Big Food & Big Pharma DO NOT want the public to know it. Worse, governments are labelling these toxin-filled packaged foods as healthy and give 4-5 stars. It lacks common sense when some say, “consume it in moderation”. For me, that's the dumbest thing to say and listen to. It's so misleading as I or someone hearing that crap can start consuming things that are “ok in moderation”, and that advice giver isn't gonna be held accountable when their advice directly impacts my poor health outcome.
Consume in moderation = Food & Alcohol Industries should make plenty of profits, and you, the consumer, should enjoy it plenty and get sick to support another industry, Big Pharma.

Cut it to ZERO because one piece switches off Lepton signalling which is essential to tell your brain you've eaten.
This is why fructose is so dangerous, like the first hit of crack and you're hooked.

One thing they leave out about limiting to 6 teas. of sugar is some people think only reg. table sugar should be counted . When it's all the carbs nd sugar combined . I have even heard people say " Oh I only had sugar in my coffee to day .. but they also had a PB&J sandwich with a banana for lunch !! Others have no idea what a carb is :(

You apparently don't know either. lol Not all carbohydrates are the same.
The sugar being added to their coffee is likely okay, while the fructan/fructose in the PB&J and the banana cause major issues.

I always heard we craved sugar because in nature the sugary foods were the most nutritious. The food industry destroyed the food supply. Look what they did to wheat. It's not the same wheat as in biblical times. It was pelted with radiation to give it traits valued for commercialization. It's doused with Monsanto pesticides including glyphosates, and when it's time to harvest, again it is sprayed with glyphosates that are also used as a drying agent, so it's never washed off!!! Wheat has a large surface area so it's really drenched with that crud. Twenty years ago I never heard 'gluten free.' Now it's all over the place because half the country can't eat the wheat because of what it does to the gut.

    • @29sentz
      @29sentz Před 4 lety +1

Wheat damages the gut because of gluten. And it was GE'd to become the new strain of "dwarf what" (read "Wheat Belly")
Glyphosate is on corn and soy, what is typically just standard pesticides since it's pretty much non-GMO.
Glyphosate is what is killing and disorienting the bees though.
We still have old strains of wheat (like they grow in Scandinavia for the very dense breads they still make there), like Kamut and Eikhorn.

Good info. This is something that I've been telling people for a while. Fruit is nature's candy. Fruit isn't as bad as a candy bar but moderation should always be considered. In a natural setting, fruit makes sense. Bulk up for the leaner months. But in our modern age we have fruit year-round. One fruit every other day as a treat won't cause any harm at all, especially for someone with a healthy, active or semi-active lifestyle. If there's little to no physical activity, then fruit and carbs in general should be reduced in the diet.
