In terms of good Deadpool comics that aren't just jokes, there is one where he spends all night with a girl who was planing on committing suicide. With the whole thing being a plan by him to convince her to get the help she needs. With the great line "I'm not smart enough to help you but they are." After pulling up to a help clinic.
Deadpol in terms of comics has plenty that do comedy and serious moments quite well, it's just that Daniel Way's run gave us the "Memepool" side of him that made Deadpool so popular even outside of comics and before the movie, and the game is heavily based on... since Way is the writer.
The best runs are Joe Kelly's run, which gave us everything we know about Deadpool. Christopher Priest did a bit after him, Gail Simone, then there's Rick Remender's Uncanny X-Force and Uncanny Avengers, the Brian Posehn and Gerry Duggan run from a decade or so ago, and the most recent Kelly Thompson and now Alyssa Wong run (Recently, they even referenced Chainsaw-Man in it).
Lady Death has had a humanoid appearance since Infinity Gauntlet when Thanos and Death won in the early 1990's, she just switches back and forth at a whim to her skeleton appearance.
Billy is the lead art of the game.
You were right about the Lady Deadpool thing, and there was even a bonus pair of deadpool's who were related to her in the cast lol
Logan: “You freaking idiot, you killed Sinister!”
DP: “Isn’t that a good thing?”
Logan: “Yes, but you’re still a freaking idiot.”
On the topic of solid Deadpool Comics i'd recommend the OG Joe Kelly run and Rick Remenders Uncanny X-Force run. Just stay away from Daniel Way's run (which incidentally also wrote this game).
Well I'm not the biggest fan of Way's run but it's fair to say that was his run that give Deadpool his popularity (at least in comic standard) besides if you can turno off your brain it's a fun read
@@000mjdIt is the double edge of Way being a large part of Deadpool breaking into the mainstream but also turned him more into a meme clown rather than a sad clown. You win some, you lose some.
there's some pretty good recent deadpool comics, alyssa wong did a ten issue run last year or the year before and it's really damn good, a nice change of pace from how deadpool was written in the comics for most of the 2010s
I would LOVE to make (some game or episode) where the antagonist BREAK the show
Deadpool was still in that mentality of the anti-boss fight era. I honestly thought the game had come out a few years earlier than it did because it's design philosophy feels way more like something from 2007 or 2008 rather than something from 2013.
How do you mean anti-boss fight, if i may ask?
Just Cable giving the thumbs up is bloody great. I know some of the combat sequences do feel like they drag towards the end but the glue of this chaotic dumbass doing weird shit (it's like a mix of DP hallucinating and the 4th wall breaking) is just so funny to me I can't help but feel positivity towards this game.
Video hasn't even started for me and I'm already cracking up with the Bayle meme lol
A shame the sequel never got made!!!
This should've been a double pack with Origins Wolverine. How did literally everyone at Marvel sleep on this is beyond me. Guess it would have to take Ryan Reynolds himself (maybe dragging Jack Hughman along) to make them realize a free synergy cross-promotion. Yeah, sure, you could sprinkle in some graphical filters to upscale it a bit or something, but I'd be fine with just working original versions.
If I had to guess I'd say the lack of boss fights is because this was a 7th generation game and so we were still in the "bosses are stupid and not cool" era.
7:33 No, Google says Steam had achievements since 2007.
Alyssa Wong's recent Deadpool run was fucking great IMO and it's a breeze to get through because it's only 10 issues

Say the *line,* Matt!
Matt: No.
The trials and lull in gameplay really smack of this era's artificial game time fluff that would happen in a lot of action games.
I remember enjoying the Udon/Agent X run
Read anything by Gail Simone or Fabian Niscieza and the chances are it will be good. I also liked "Cable and Deadpool - Bossom Bodies" for the most of it.
You can unlock the costumes. But you can only use them in the Challenge mode, not the main Campaign.
I beat this game when it came out, and it's scary how much of it I forgot. The entire third video felt like I was seeing it for the first time. I loved the game, but those last few levels are a bit of a drag
There was a rap in this game that was remixed to be in the movie. I thought it was the credits music? i could be wrong though
You're right, it is, I had the theme for years, and listening to the soundtrack, they reference everything in the game, like Cable, Wolverine, and Genosha.
I think the rap it's not in the game. It was written by Teamheadkick as a fan song.
Years later, the song was used in the 2016 movie. The lyrics were rewritten since they referenced game events.
I mean the pizza delivery guy & barrel spewing machine were kinda sorta bosses. Plus Arclight, Blockbuster, Mr. Sinister, & The Solution that's *technically* about 6-8 boss fights.
It definately feels like an area where Activision cut the budget on.
Ya know, watching Matt play through this game I had a few moments where I felt “Oh was this game actually good? I remember only forcing myself to like this as a kid.” Then, as he got further and further in, I quickly remembered “Oh, nope. It actually was just as mediocre as I remembered.”
I’d replay something like Dirge Of Cerberus over this any day of the week.
Hey Matt could you do hulk ultimate destruction next? That game is so awesome!
It would have been nice if the music wasn’t generic, I can’t remember a single song in this game besides the credits.
I remember that Cable song.
@@exaIgnus okay that one’s pretty good but mostly I was talking about during combat and exploration
I remember the end of this game being kind of an annoying slog
Yeah, you're not wrong.
God the enemies are so bleh in this game. They just remind me of Redfall enemies.
Lady death looks like that in the comic's, though man
Yes, but she also had a skull face in the 80s and 90s. Just saying I prefer the original design, and not the coward version.
I wish i knew what the contest winners reaction to the whole thing 😅
Can’t believe Matt was right about Lady Deadpool
Uncanny X-force has good deadpool in it. The one with PhantomX. Can't remember the excact name of the run.
This might be an unpopular opinion, but I think X2: Wolverine's Revenge is a better game than Deadpool.
