Just finished reading Gods of the Hammer. Brought back so many memories. I was the singer in a band called Mick Slick and we used to see the Head at Larrys Hideway on Carlton St. Only got to play there twice but the Head were to big by then. Fun times for sure.

First met Teenage Head when they played my club (Bookie's) in Detroit early '78. We later played with them at The Horseshoe (Toronto) in October. What a GREAT bunch of guys, especially Gordon. I miss 'em.

my recently-late husband worked for Paul Gross & Teenage Head during this time ... was security for this show, where some 20,000 (?) people showed up for a 2,000 seat venue .... needless to say, they eventually reversed their security shirts & joined the crowd, as it descended into utter chaos!

I still have the album The Last Pogo, its still in great condition.Iwas offered 300.00 for it.Its a big part of the Canadian punk scene in Toronto,so in a way it is priceless.

STRATCAT101 You know, there's an arch type. Keith Richards. ALL players are judged according to the standard he set. Two big items:He never got fat.He never set up and played with a replacement for a legend.Gord has failed us on both those counts. Yup, there are still "Teenage Head" shows. No, they aren't any good.

The audience shots are always the best part of any old punk footage. Those were real outcasts. Nowadays people who listen to nothing edgier than teen pop can play punk dress up. There is no longer any fear about getting beat up or harassed.

The Sillies played with Teenage Head numerous times in Detroit and Ann Arbor. We also played with The MC-5 , The Dead Boys, The Damned, The Heartbreakers (Johnny Thunders), etc. and of everyone we ever played with or I presented (The Police, J. Geils, Ultravox, Mitch Ryder, etc.) there was never a better band or a better bunch of people than the members of TEENAGE HEAD. They are in MY personal Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame.

were Teenage Head and Forgotten Rebels from Hamilton? i met a guy in a record shop who claimed to have managed them both. i gotta go with the Rebels--first 2 albums are some of the best, still sound as good as ever albums ever made...underrated, they destroy so many UK and US bands from that time---lucky they were among my first shows living on the Niagara Falls border. In Love With The System has not aged and is a classic punk album. They shifted to glam, but made a second flawless album. hard to believe mickey is still alive seeing him looking like walking death over 20 years ago in buffalo at River Rock Cafe. The Rebels simply did punk and glam punk perfect. Time To Run!

+Dave Anchovies The fellow you met was probably Paul Kobak. He did indeed manage both bands for a time, and yes both bands were from Hamilton.
FWIW The first wave of punk bands ALL had their roots in glam.
