Okay Roger should be talked about But is anybody going to talk about the Junklord he literally lives in Garbage and wears that as a cape and Pants his parents knows Right?
I have a bit of a different theory in which Roger actually belonged to a family maybe living in the countryside judging by his clothes. But as he grew up, his family noticed his odd tendencies and thought something might’ve been wrong with him. So they may have sent him to a mental institute where he was diagnosed with Schizophrenia, which would make sense for his erratic behavior. I also believe he escaped from the institute and made his way towards the creek where he found other kids and decided to stay. But because he missed his family and possible one friend he made in the institute, he may have developed Dissociative Identity Disorder which would explain his mud friend and makes him believe he has family to take care of him. As for how he was able to grab milk for that specific episode, it doesn’t exactly look good and maybe spoiled so perhaps he gets food from behind shops in the town in which they throw away food. But that’s just my theory, a film theory! Thanks for listening
Honestly, I hope they write Roger as a neglected child. They don't shy away from topics and I really like that. Homeschooled children, kids moving away (or death/learning how to grieve), JP implied to have autism, Kelsey's orientation, etc. I wish I had cartoons like that to enjoy. Of course, I did have amazing cartoons, but nothing like this.
@@LENLOVSMIYA JP feels like he never fits in with kids his age or his family and is often singled out as "weird" to the point he suspects he may actually be an alien.

I bet this will be adressed in a future episode. This would also be a good lesson for the kids to learn that not everybody has a good home life and that it's okay to ask for support. Until now we have only seen that the creek kids have loving and supporting families.
Yeah, sure it's a bit of a dark topic but it would be nice to see a character who has a rather not so happy home life and goes to the creek to stay away from home honestly
It's also possible that he belongs to a foster family or is in a children home.. sadly, many foster children run away.. and usually it's their social worker who has to find them.
@@metaemperor oh god, that is correct, and it could also be why he isn't fed much, a family member or both spending money on themselves or on alchohol and cigs would make sense as well-

My mom said to me "so he can't afford a place to live or food, but he can afford to smoke."; for a but more context we have several choosing beggers in our area so there's a good chance he isn't what he says he is, and the begging money is just to feed his addiction.
Roger was always a strange comfort character for me, mostly for his habits and tendency of being outcasted and alone. So seeing someone discuss him and his character phycology was very nice!
Dude ever since Roger found Craig alone in the creek past the Dinner horn in that winter episode I've suspected that Roger was some kind of homeless. Otherwise why wouldn't he have gone home like all the other kids (minus stubborn Craig of course)?
tbh I don't think his parents intentionally neglect him, I think Roger is just a typical 'latch-key' kid from a likely low-income household. Speaking as someone who was a low-income latch-key kid myself (and also grew up around the area CoTC takes place in, funnily enough. I mean obviously herkleston isn't real but I grew up in Germantown and Gaithursburg with grandparents on the eastern shore.) it's less intentional neglect in an abusive way and moreso likely living with a single parent who spends most of their time working to put food on the table. I got myself to school alone, came home alone, and usually had to make dinner for myself. And y'know what was really easy and safe to make as a kid? Cereal. No stove or real preparation involved. And cereal is super cheap. Being latch-key also meant I was responsible for most of my own grooming habits. When your parent doesn't get home until 10 or 11pm, there's nobody there to tell you to brush your teeth or take a shower. Since my mom was busy all the time she had a rule that anytime I'd be out of the house to visit friends or something, she had to know 24 hours in advance. (this was before cell phones.) The missing poster makes me think Roger just hung out too long somewhere one day and his parent got home late, noticed he was missing, and freaked out. It seems sad but a lot of kids I knew growing up with divorced parents lived as latch-key kids too. The main difference was how much parenting absent parents do even if they aren't around as much. Some of my friends had NO supervision at all and grew up in squalor but did whatever they wanted. I walked a fine line where I was alone a lot but still had a parent around to discipline me if I got bad grades or whatever. So it's kind of like...the difference between Roger and Xavier. Xavier seems to be latch-key too but his family has money, so he's emotionally neglected. I'm sure it'll be something explored in a future episode of the show. Kids always think that they way they live and their families are 'normal' and everyone else lives like that too. It can be shocking to visit a new friends and find out their family and lifestyle is completely different, but they think THEIR way is normal.
I honestly thought Roger could potentially be a dead kid or a real "creature" honestly. Considering that there was another "kid" found in the creek that seems suspiciously supernatural. It would be cool if it was hinted that there could be a supernatural element to him too, like those stories about kids getting lost in the woods and claimed by the supernatural.
Roger reminds me of one those kids who's an only child or comes from a family thats really big. Also maybe hillbilly like family. Or homeless kid or a rich kid from a family with lots of rules and goes to the creek to be free and wild.
It's time someone dedicated analysis videos to CotC . There's so much depth to these characters, even one that seems at first glance as nothing but a "funny freak"
Hello, making a second comment on this video, but when you mentioned that if Roger were to have ran away and is now considered missing that it's possible Roger might have a tent or something in the creek I have an idea that Riddle Bridge IS where he spends his time if he has and does run away from home. If you look closely near the shore under Riddle Bridge you can see a dirtied puffer jacket, what seems to be a folded blanket or two, and some dirtied rain boots. So it is VERY likely that Roger would keep these items here or whenever he runs away or just doesn't go home.
I don't want to be rude, but Roger looks like he has FAS Symptoms may wary but I see here: -thin lips -smooth philtrum -flatt face -flatt nose -low nasal bridge -high forehed -small head yup it is definitly alkohol in family
I recently rewatched the episode where Craig meets a kid that is named Helen. And it gave me a theory that sparkle cadet and Helen are the same people. #1: We never learned sparkle cadet's name. #2: they both have the same hairstyle #3: Helen finally got out of homeschool and discovered that the creek isn't abandoned it just is in the morning. #4: she was home-schooled so much so she watched so much anime then she discovered what it was like to play in the creek and started playing as sparkle cadet.
It’s very possible that Roger comes from a bad home, it’s more likely really, but I like to imagine that he actually comes from a very wealthy family that prides itself on cleanliness and hygiene. So he comes to the Creek to be as dirty and weird as he wants, also because he is lonely.
I've also noticed something. Roger has very pale skin. Despite being outside seemingly ALL the time, You would assume he may be a bit more tan? RIGHT? However, I have a feeling he has Albinism. Including/supporting this claim, He has pink eyes. Commonly with those who are albino such as rats, and other animals. Of course most humans who have the albino factor mixed in have violet/purple eye colors and or die at the near age of 20+. With this it may be the reason he looks so sickly. Most who have albino features tend to have other medical problems smushed together. Including bad eyesight to follow. This could possibly mean its why he's so sick, Or odd. He could even have some form of mental medical problem as well. Which could be why he runs away, or leaves his family. With the other supporting factors of a neglectful parent or parents.
@@maevecharles So I was right! Muahaha! I never checked the wiki. I just based it off the characteristics and common factors albinism has. Which consists of the eye color and very pale/white skin tone.
There is this anime named Kotaro something (Because I forgot the name) about a kid that suffered some type of traumatic experience with his dad and mom. The episodes are about this kid and how he manage to survive alone while receives help from his neighbors. There is this one episode that talks about a dentist. He stayed with the children and talk with them abbout their life in home and school. His assistant thinking that this behaviour is strange asks hhim why he does this and he explains. Once a little girl gone to his clinic because she hhas problems with her teeth. She was guided by him who told her what she should do and he asked for her to talk with his mother about her teeth situation. Then they booked a new visit for her and she was gone. The days passed and the little girl suddenly appeared in his work place again. She said she wanted to talk with the dentist about her teeth, the guy talked to her, but sent her back home saying that her session wasn't booked for thhe next day. At the end, the girl never returned for another session. When the dentist searched about her to find somethhing he discovered that she became homeless, her mother and father abandoned her and she was rescued from living on streets. The side history ends with him saying that the oral health of a kid has a lot to talk about how they're treated at home, so he always wanted to talk with the children to know if everything is okay in their home. T^T No one deserves trash parents!
It’s possible that Rogers parents both work multiple jobs in order to make ends meet because some people in this day and age have to work multiple full-time jobs just to make rent and even then the only living paycheck to paycheck so his parents literally might not have time to spend with him
This reminds me of that really fast Korean kid from the show who mentioned that he's the slowest in his family. I'm not sure if he's referring to his physical speed or is intellectual speed. If it's his intellectual speed it might be due to peer pressure and his feelings of inadequacy
@@chasethemaster3440You've got a good point. Many shows had similar situations like you can see a missing poster in season 2 of total drama with Ezekiel on it. So roger probably turned feral or something.
is it just me, or does Roger hardcore share a few similarities with Toad from X-men Evolution?? even down to some of the character design like pasty skin and messed up teeth?
I've always loved roger and never knew why, hearing and watching this now makes me understand, i do kinda relate to him with a bad homelife (except i am taken care of and worried about, it's just fights and divorce and etc-) and how other kids aren't around him much (i do have friends and etc i just have earned a reputation since 1st grade to now) and I've always loved thr outsider background characters more due to reasons like this, generally craig of the creek does pretty good representing how home life and play style can be shown to effect eachother.
@@CartoonUniverse I mean you've had the milk from a bowl of cereal right? It's got sugar and sometimes bits of cereal left in it. It probably would get "sludge"-like if he maybe left it out on the counter.
i've never watched this show. know nothing about it. but I dont think roger's parents are looking. there are 2 numbers ripped from the missing poster. unless that was done during the episode by someone seen. that means people have seen him in the creek, and tried to contact them, twice. they know he's at the creek. they dont care.
I actually knew some kids with a life like that. 3 brothers aged about 13, 8, and 6. They always got made fun of or avoided for ratty clothes and smells. It was so bad us younger(6-8) kids genuinely believed they were sick or something. Years later, about 10, I ran into them at a different school after a couple transfers. They lived with cousins. Apparently, their parents were addicts that tried cooking sometimes or something. Meth is a big problem in my area. Family had finally intervened and gained custody. I almost don't want this to be true as a theory, because the implication that you would burden children with the knowledge, and inherent feeling of responsibility, that they could have friends in these terrible situations, that are usually too complicated to do anything about, is almost sickening.
It is a remix of that, but it is not available online anymore and the person who allowed us to use it does not come online anymore so we can't ask for permission to share it or use it in other ways or anything.
I've been saying this ever since I saw him! His worn out overalls, no shoes, looking malnourished, looking like he hasn't showered in weeks. "Where are this kids parents"!? I always thought
She is my favorite, so I'm psyched, but we might not be making too many videos until the series returns with new episodes. I actually wrote several scripts for sparkle cadet already as I enjoyed her character a lot.
Craig of the Creek is probably one of the only Cartoon Network shows that is underrated. I hope it gets more recognition soon before it would end, unlike We Bare Bears which ended FIVE WHOLE YEARS later with little recognition. 😞
I always thought Roger was just a reference to Gollum from the hobbit since they look really similar and like riddles a lot but this makes way more sense.
I feel bad for Roger because he doesn't go home at dinner because he has a bad family look at 2:55 he might be hungry but doesn't wanna go home because he might not get feed much you can see lines in his chest in 2:55 poor kid..
It’s very plausible Roger likely has a not so good home life since he is malnourished from his scrawny frame and poor hygiene. Maybe he resides in the creek as a place to hide from his not so good home life and found a fondness for riddles from a slow decent into madness whilst being alone for so long.
As a kid adventure time was one of my favourite shows because it's a fresh air that the main characters don't have the best kind of parents like me. I'm just so used to the main characters going home, eat dinner and crack jokes with them and sometimes those scenes made me feel left out. It would be really nice to subtly hint that situation with Roger so neglected kids like me don't feel alone
Interesting character selected, but yeah. Always had a feeling about him during this past season. Seems like he has been going through something with the cops searching the creek and him being dirty all the time. Not to mention depressed. I think he has been molested. So many signs there when other kids are saying they understand his situation and parents talk about him.
Roger is so unsettling lol. If he’s supposed to be homeless, the way they present him is so creepy. To me it’s more likely that he turned into some sort of creature and that’s why he ran away.
I think it’s to show how dehumanizing homelessness really is. When people are unhoused for so long become “feral animals who should just get a job or stop ruining their own lives” In the eyes of many. So it would make sense to start off showing him as creepy and othered then slowly reveal that he is intact homeless and then show him slowly other the kids around him because he realizes that he can’t project feelings and wants onto others. In his effort to have someone, he had anyone. I want him to heal from that, idk. Maybe that’s just me, but I feel like he would be cool to be around at least when he’s older.
It’s kind of funny to think, but the show has the civility and camaraderie where when one character loses a lucky rock they will search the whole creek to find it, but when there is a missing poster of a kid they see all the time they don’t say squat
Guys, guys... Foster care. This kid was probably taken away from his parents and, in true foster care fashion, had probably been bouncing from foster home to foster home until he got tired and started living in the creek. That's what I think anyway.
Even tho Roger gives me creepy Vibes but...I think i feel bad..He is in bad health he can't stay in the creek forever he could get sick in cold weathers Or maybe get a frostbite or poison Ivy Maybe the other side of the bridge must be something special to him and you know He is lonely i cried that he made a pretend surgery to not be lonely anymore😭💔
I stumbled upon on how kids play and their psychology in my searches to incorporate that into my characters, when I saw that on Twitter I immediately knew what was going on with that kid.
Thank you for disecting the backstory of one of the funniest and unusual side characters! I don't know if this will ruin the show for me or make it even better lol...
reminds me of myself as a kid not a good homelife unhealthly yellowish red eyes from nicotine smoke and lack of sleep pale skin from being inside allday stringy hair from not bathing and odd behavivor from not being exposed to others as well as bad teeth
In the resent movie we got to see him earlyer in his young life, pretty well off and interacting with the Elf Kids though they dont seem to like him much
Man this show has so many references like the two goth girls who both have Jolyne hairpieces Roger being like gollum reference to Kaiju and One Piece the another is Hime Mononoke plus one character being like Salior Moon.
I feel like they are gonna either do a last eppisode whit him and then never show him again or straigth up do a whole episode where the kid descover what's appening to him at home and they try to help him (im a very childlish way that follows the show stile, becouse you know, it's a show for kids) i really hope for the second one, since i was abused/neglected as a child (not like him luckily) and there are plenty of kids in this situation and it could theach them to seak for help
He’s probably treated that way at home due to his skin tone (yes, some people a shallow like that). I mean, if he stays at the creek all the time, he should be very tan by now, but he’s not, meaning he’s probably an albino (red eyes give away, too). Thus, his guardians might see him a too different and treat him poorly because of it. The green hair also hints to him not being home often, since after a while, algae would start forming in one’s hair if not dried.

OMG I was thinking the exact same thing!
i was thinking he looked more like gollum from The Lord of The Rings and The Hobbit.
I was wondering when someone was going to talk about this
Been excited about this one
Same
At first I didn't like this kid very much, but this video made me appreciate him.
PLEASE COTC I NEED MORE ROGER EPISODES I LOVE HIMMM 😭 HE'S SO CUTE AND DESERVES BETTER
Roger is such a side character if I knew more about him! ✌😁❤🥰
I posted that reddit post:) So cool to be in your video
Craig of the creek is the best
Facts
Hm, interesting, i will look forward to see who else you might talk about next.
Rogers afterschool snack is just his leftover milk from breakfast.. let that sink in.
I never even thought of it in that particular way but wow.
@@CartoonUniverse I mean you've had the milk from a bowl of cereal right? It's got sugar and sometimes bits of cereal left in it. It probably would get "sludge"-like if he maybe left it out on the counter.
riddle me this batman if quizes are quizical than what are test
Testable?
Gross…..
Testicles: I commented this earlier but it disappeared
@@kingofgs6868 theyre testical hahahHaHaHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAh
i've never watched this show. know nothing about it. but I dont think roger's parents are looking. there are 2 numbers ripped from the missing poster. unless that was done during the episode by someone seen. that means people have seen him in the creek, and tried to contact them, twice. they know he's at the creek. they dont care.
I almost don't want this to be true as a theory, because the implication that you would burden children with the knowledge, and inherent feeling of responsibility, that they could have friends in these terrible situations, that are usually too complicated to do anything about, is almost sickening.
what's the background music? It seems to be a remix of peace and love on the planet earth from steven universe but i can't find the version you use.
It is a remix of that, but it is not available online anymore and the person who allowed us to use it does not come online anymore so we can't ask for permission to share it or use it in other ways or anything.
I love that man WHYYYY JUST WHYYYY
I would love to see more videos on him! He's actually kinda a weird comfort character for me. I really hope he gets more indepth backstory
Maybe he’s rich but his parents focus on they’re work instead of him. Or his house isn’t good and his parents don’t care for him…
I've been saying this ever since I saw him! His worn out overalls, no shoes, looking malnourished, looking like he hasn't showered in weeks. "Where are this kids parents"!? I always thought
aww man im excited about the Sparkle Cadet videooo
She is my favorite, so I'm psyched, but we might not be making too many videos until the series returns with new episodes. I actually wrote several scripts for sparkle cadet already as I enjoyed her character a lot.
Craig of the Creek is probably one of the only Cartoon Network shows that is underrated. I hope it gets more recognition soon before it would end, unlike We Bare Bears which ended FIVE WHOLE YEARS later with little recognition. 😞
What's unfortunate is that I relate so hard to him. Really makes me think, sometimes.
wait, on the lost board, there's the palomander from the bobby episode, the fluffle from the dog episode, and the car from the sewer!!
I always thought Roger was just a reference to Gollum from the hobbit since they look really similar and like riddles a lot but this makes way more sense.
Before I started actively watching the show, I immediately thought Orochimaru whenever I saw him.
Wow!! As I’m watching COTC, This is extremely sad having this knowledge about Roger. I really do hope there’s more a backstory to his character
I feel bad for Roger because he doesn't go home at dinner because he has a bad family look at 2:55 he might be hungry but doesn't wanna go home because he might not get feed much you can see lines in his chest in 2:55 poor kid..
Roger's family is either super rich and that's why he pretends to live under the bridge. Or he's homeless and ran away from his foster home
The biggest mystery is what actually is behind of the *keep out j.p.* door
somebody is finally thinking about this
It's unrealistically dark poor kid way too young to become like an insane homeless person
It would be really nice to subtly hint that situation with Roger so neglected kids like me don't feel alone
i always felt bad for roger since the start i always noticed that he had no friends and no love form his parents 😥😥😥
Interesting character selected, but yeah. Always had a feeling about him during this past season. Seems like he has been going through something with the cops searching the creek and him being dirty all the time. Not to mention depressed. I think he has been molested. So many signs there when other kids are saying they understand his situation and parents talk about him.
I liked the Smeagol references in regards to the friendly neighborhood Bridge troll!
Roger is my favourite character I hope we see him more in the show.
I feel bad for him 😿
Roger is so unsettling lol.
@@angelkingsley5299 i like your analysis !!! i hadn’t thought about it like that.
This kinda makes me sad because roger is my favorite because he’s weird AND I LOVE THAT!!
That's what I think anyway.
also from a side view of the bridge you can see some clothes and a bag under it where Roger hangs out.
He needs friends and lots and lots of love
I'm not trying to be a jerk but Roger looks like freaking gollum
Pretty sure that was their inspiration
A gremlin
I don't watch Craig of the creek much but
I want to adopt this little guy
You know what nah it's official this little dude is my son now.
How old are you
This is my biggest question: is Roger still a missing kid currently? Or is that poster from a long time ago and has he been returned home?
I've always loved roger
Had this theory for a while but wasnt sure, glad someone finally cleared it up. Thank you! :D
Dang, it seems like a REALLY need to catch up on some episodes, and where do guys even watch Craig of the Creak? (besides cable)
hbomax has episodes out the next day now, though the show is on hiatus until who knows when.
On Opposite Day, big red turned into a giant and then she ate Roger, if you haven’t seen the episode go watch it
I really like this show, it’s pretty interesting and cool
Even tho Roger gives me creepy Vibes but...I think i feel bad..He is in bad health he can't stay in the creek forever he could get sick in cold weathers
Or maybe get a frostbite or poison Ivy
Maybe the other side of the bridge must be something special to him and you know
He is lonely i cried that he made a pretend surgery to not be lonely anymore😭💔
I stumbled upon on how kids play and their psychology in my searches to incorporate that into my characters, when I saw that on Twitter I immediately knew what was going on with that kid.
What’s crazy is when I seen the new episode the day it came out that was the first thing that caught my eye
Thank you for disecting the backstory of one of the funniest and unusual side characters! I don't know if this will ruin the show for me or make it even better lol...
what if he’s a ghost and that missing person ad is like years old and was never taken down?
reminds me of myself as a kid not a good homelife unhealthly yellowish red eyes from nicotine smoke and lack of sleep pale skin from being inside allday stringy hair from not bathing and odd behavivor from not being exposed to others as well as bad teeth
In the resent movie we got to see him earlyer in his young life, pretty well off and interacting with the Elf Kids though they dont seem to like him much
not only r his teeth yellow, his eyes are too and nails are long and dirty. i hope they have a episode abt his situation :(
"Jason" TheScout, Apparently Has a Crappy "HomeLife".😔
I always thought Roger was a zombie of some sort.
his face creeps me out ngl but he's a really cool kid
Roger kinda looks like Akira Midousuji
I LOVE MIDOUSUJI AAAA
I the one that I notice is that his stomach is weak and his real skinny
Does his parents even feed him???
in the episode the sparkle situation he says he has a dentist appointment so i think he probably didnt run away
At first I thought roger was just a cosplay of gollum until this video brought it up.
omg...this video just saddened the hell outta me!!
Honestly Cartoon Network is pretty dark with shows
The movie suggests that Roger got a ringworm and he has always liked riddles. It’s probably why he ended up looking like that
Roger is a ghost that haunts the forest.
Who else is watching this after the movie released
👇
I thought I the joke was since he got eaten by big red/little blue in the opposite day episode.
