I'm 35 and heard this song for the first time about 8 months ago when I purchased a turn table and my dad gave me his records. I've heard that song over a dozen times and I always cry and I thought it was me over reacting. I'm so glad (in a weird non sadistic way) that this resonates with you A it does with me.
I simply cannot wait for someone to make a song out of these lyrics... Acres Wild (for the Jethro Tull song), Shasa, Sunday, 19 Mar 2017 chlorophyll it is which makes a leaf green rain comes to drench it, making it sparkling and clean flowers grow and the whole vista explodes in colours aplenty like a million rainbows a veritable kaleidoscope this forest which gives a weary traveller rest ridding him of his burden making him think positive again feed it does many birds and insects deer and wolf and all of natures aspects nowhere else is life so concentrated by divine Prakriti orchestrated there are those among us who seek to strip this forest, seemingly weak and prone to rape, for dumb the meek but protect her we do, though the fight seemingly bleak endless the horizon, green and vast in its tranquility seemingly lost those of us who see acres wild filled with the wonder of a child
Man that was deep. I was thinking of a name for a camp and Sparrow came to my mind and saw that Simon and Garfunkel had a song. After hearing it, I was deeply moved. Gorgeous lyrics
This song is about the endeavors of survival, and the idea that all people look out for themselves long before they will look out for anyone else. But this is okay because in the end, the thing that created us, will take us back in.
i was 21 years when i wrote this song... im 22 now but i wont be for long. time hurries on, and the leaves that are green turn to brown :))) then of course there is kathy, art's wife and kathys song... obsessing over them after a long time of nearly 2 years
One of the first songs I ever learned to play on the guitar (and one of the reasons why I did). This time around I'm listening to it and El Condor Pasa because of everyone who has been hit so hard by Hurricane Ian. But I won't deny that it has been on my mind quite a bit in recent years. Unfortunately this is a metaphor that always applies to somebody's situation somewhere. Anyway please don't forget all the animals who were washed away or who came out the other end and are just waiting for the water to recede. Thank you for listening from the Sunshine State. 🌏
"Who will love a little Sparrow? Who's traveled far and cries for rest? "Not I," said the Oak Tree, "I won't share my branches with no sparrow's nest, And my blanket of leaves won't warm her cold breast." Who will love a little Sparrow And who will speak a kindly word? "Not I," said the Swan, "The entire idea is utterly absurd, I'd be laughed at and scorned if the other Swans heard." Who will take pity in his heart, And who will feed a starving sparrow? "Not I," said the Golden Wheat, "I would if I could but I cannot I know, I need all my grain to prosper and grow." Who will love a little Sparrow? Will no one write her eulogy? "I will," said the Earth, "For all I've created returns unto me, From dust were ye made and dust ye shall be." Rest in Peace Little One, far from this world fear, hunger, and pain..
Beatyful song. I think all those people how been kindly to me. God bless them all. Ofcourse i remember all the bad things what has hapened to me but it is not so importat. sorry my english if someone want to be the swan.
I think it's a metaphor of a number of things said, and sends a gentile yet cutting perspective of hypocrisy. It's critical of those who choose not help those who cannot help themselves in times of need, yet ends with a stark reminder that on a big picture, and when all else fails, the earth welcomes all of us home, equally, in the end, and reminds us that we are all dust waiting to be.
The song to me was sung by Jesus asking who will take care of his children the oak tree the swan the golden wheat all have gifts but they lack the one thing charity
The song reminds me of the lines from the story titled, The Happy Prince , by Oscar Fingal O'Flahertie Wills Wilde. “Alas! I have no ruby now,” said the Prince; “my eyes are all that I have left. They are made of rare sapphires, which were brought out of India a thousand years ago. Pluck out one of them and take it to him. He will sell it to the jeweller, and buy food and firewood, and finish his play.”
God loves❤ the little sparrow..... Matthew 29 Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father. 30 But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. 31 Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows. 32 Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. 33 But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven. ...and God loves you, for God is love.❤
"But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong." 1 Corinthians 1:27 New International Version
hope you all understands that the whole song is a metaphore and has a far deeper meaning than you can imagine, dont wanna act like a besserwisser found out this like last week^^
i would like to see some enterprising graphics person do this with the Bernie Sanders sparrow encounter in Seattle, maybe added to other Bernie scenes in nature. Anyone out there?
After about 40 years still bring me to tears

Ich habe eine Freundin. Bei dem Lied muss ich an sie denken....Ich gebe ihr ein Nest, Futter und Freundschaft.
Das macht mich glücklich ❤️
I'd rather be a sparrow than a snail.
Yes I would if I only could,I surely would....
One of the best S&G song. Great lyrics!
What a classic piece - they don't make/ create music like this anymore! Melody, harmony, philosophy, empathy all in one.
I write music, agree that music today is catered for today's computer generation. I still hold true to real music that is thought provoking.
@@CarlitoGio Ikr, I only listen to REAL music. Rocks bashing into rocks from the stone age. Can't get more emotion than that, lemme tell you lol

Acres Wild (for the Jethro Tull song), Shasa, Sunday, 19 Mar 2017
chlorophyll it is which makes a leaf green
rain comes to drench it, making it sparkling and clean
flowers grow and the whole vista explodes
in colours aplenty like a million rainbows
a veritable kaleidoscope this forest
which gives a weary traveller rest
ridding him of his burden
making him think positive again
feed it does many birds and insects
deer and wolf and all of natures aspects
nowhere else is life so concentrated
by divine Prakriti orchestrated
there are those among us who seek
to strip this forest, seemingly weak
and prone to rape, for dumb the meek
but protect her we do, though the fight seemingly bleak
endless the horizon, green and vast
in its tranquility seemingly lost
those of us who see acres wild
filled with the wonder of a child
This was a beautiful song❤
This song always makes me cry.
The Earth is wise.
not one sparrow falls to the ground without the father knowing.

always always a philosophy behind their songs . makes it meaningful.
Humanity is inevitably moving towards mass extinction and oblivion!
So very beautiful. Lyrically, as well as musically. Definitely one of my favorites... I've been obsessing over Simon & Garfunkel now.

Yes, I would, if I only could, I surely would.
This song, along with Brassens Chanson pour l'auvergnat are the best expressions of the value of human solidarity in my opinion.

I think this is a song about homelessness.
This is a really cool song and everything, but what family of birds does the 'Golden Wheat' belong to? 😁
The family of ornithological stupidity, and everything.
For the refugees !
I thought you're going to show a dead bird in the last verse lol
This is the saddest song I've ever heard.
Try this for sad . . .

What's the meaning behind this song???
selfishness, indifference... the people walking past the homeless ones, the beggars, the buskers without dropping a coin into their cup...
if you have to ask, you'll never know....
