  • I decided to add a Amazon firestick to my cars head unit so I can watch shows, movies or TV on it (via Xfinity) when I have the kiddos in the car with me. Parts used in this video listed below
    Firestick: tinyurl.com/5n...
    Micro HDMI to HDMI adapter: tinyurl.com/4n...
    The rest should come in your box for your head unit.

    Thanks for the video. I just bought the exact same Pioneer 4660NEX. Best Buy will be installing it Monday. I plan to buy the Firestick and do the same. Thanks again, great video.
    PS Your son was just trying to help, really cool😁

      Nice. I think you'll enjoy this head unit, it has a lot of features you can unlock in it (they sell like an extra adapter for that).
      Yeah I know he's always trying to help haha. He's been around me and this car since he was a baby so he likes to interrupt or keep me company 🤣.

      How do you unlock it????

      @@stevenrodriguez5324 you have to buy the module, its a combination of 2 needed (stated in the owners manual you can also download the PDF). I don't remember what exactly it's called but I know I had seen it on Amazon back then. Reason I didn't bother buying it was because my car is much older plus I don't have the factory engine management so it would've been pointless.

    A word of advice. I would not place the USB/USB-C adapter behind the head unit. If you have an iPhone or plan on buy a new one. The phones now have the USB-C connector. They have switched from the lightening connector/ USB-A to USB-C to USB-C. Sneak of them, huh? 🙂

      Thanks but I don't do iPhones, I have a Samsung but no need to connect it behind the head unit for any reason. This works great for me as installed

    Do you know if it is possible to run a splitter for two connections out of that bottom left type c port on the back of the radio and run wired apple carplay and the firestick too?

    Do you need the firestick remote to use it, or can you just use touch screen?

    • @Touring_Low
      @Touring_Low  Před 6 měsíci

      Yes, the head unit just serves the same purpose as your TV at home (for viewing).

    Nice video thanks. How did you power the firestick?

    • @Touring_Low
      @Touring_Low  Před rokem

      There's a USB port at the back of the radio. Fire stick doesn't require much power draw to power up.

      @@Touring_Low so you use two cables the usb for power and then the hdmi to connect the firestick?

    • @Touring_Low
      @Touring_Low  Před rokem +1

      @@tvman54 Yes, the HDMI is for the viewing part and the USB is for the powering up.

      @@Touring_Low do you have to have the parking brake on to get the firestick to play? Any issues since you installed it? Im putting the same pioneer you have in my miata. Thank you for a great idea

      @@tvman54 no, it doesn't affect viewing in park but as soon as you're in motion it'll stop. Luckily pioneer has a built in bypass for that. I failed to mention it in the video how to bypass but it's pretty easy but you gotta do it fast. Turn off source, hold the bottom left corner of the screen for 10 secs, switch over to the bottom right after 10sec (use a stop watch for better accuracy) and hold that other bottom corner down (left side of the Bluetooth/phone icon) for another 10 sec and you'll see a pop up message saying "set is on". That's it. Now if you ever disconnect your battery you gotta do the bypass again.
