  • democracynow.org - On Wednesday night, President Obama addressed the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia and implored the nation to vote for Hillary Clinton. As Obama seeks to pass the torch to his secretary of state, we host a debate on Hillary Clinton, her rival Donald Trump and President Obama’s legacy between Princeton University professor Eddie Glaude and Georgetown University professor Michael Eric Dyson. Glaude’s most recent book is "Democracy in Black: How Race Still Enslaves the American Soul," and he recently wrote an article for Time magazine headlined "My Democratic Problem with Voting for Hillary Clinton." Dyson is the author of "The Black Presidency: Barack Obama and the Politics of Race in America" and wrote a cover article for the New Republic titled, "Yes She Can: Why Hillary Clinton Will Do More for Black People Than Obama."

Assuming we accept the narrative of American exceptionalism and that we are all of the great things that people speak of. How do we reconcile that with the fact that the final two candidates who are supposed to represent the best of what this country (corporation) has to offer is relegated to one the lesser of two evils?
As I am writing this in 2019 Drumpf lost by the largest margin in history to Killary, but the electoral college chose him anyway, so where does the voting for the lesser of two evils come into place! How did Drumpf winning become such a major threat to black folks as Dyson would put it? Micheal Eric Dyson sure does use a lot of words to express the usual apologetics for Hillary - don't blame her for Bill Clinton's policies (even though she often takes credit for them when its convenient), we have to defeat Trump at all costs, its OK that Hillary's a corporate shill because every one else in Washington is, etc. All style very little substance.

Yet another cowardly Hillary supporter, who can't wait to surrender so that he can surrender again in another four years, and another four after that, and four later, until he is in a habit of surrender. However, we're starting to get arrests for election fraud, and a Chinese billionaire was arrested for bribery and will be questioned about his role in helping the Clintons violate campaign finance laws. If they're willing to arrest a billionaire for mere bribery, how long can Hillary stay above the law? If Hillary goes down, the cowards will have to vote for a decent candidate if they want to stop Trump. Though most likely they'd just switch to Trump instead.

Georgetown University's student newspaper The Georgetown Voice reported in June 2021 that the University had launched an investigation into Dyson in February 2020 in relation to allegations that Dyson harassed and tried to initiate a romantic relationship with one of his students at the University. Subsequently, Crystal Fleming also accused Dyson of harassing her as a graduate student.[24] Students at Vanderbilt, where Dyson accepted a position in 2021, have accused the school of "fail[ing] Black women" by hiring the alleged predator.
