This song is actually about Jake Gyllenhaal, and about Taylor's 21st birthday. As the song states, he never showed up to her birthday party while they were dating cause he just didn't care enough or something. It's a damn heartbreaking song
It really is. And it upsets me how people say she’s being dramatic. I mean when you’re with someone they’re supposed to show up and be there for you. He stood her up on one of the most important birthdays of her life. He didn’t send a single text or call he just blew her off. She ended up crying in the bathroom the whole night. And this was after she lost her virginity to him too.

I just love how TS puts details in her songs, connecting them seamlessly, like the fateful phone call and feeling like a crumpled up piece of paper (in All Too Well, Babe, and The Moment I Knew), a certain dive bar (in Delicate, Cruel Summer, Cornelia Street, Invisible String) or drinking on the roof (in King of My Heart, Cornelia Street) etc. It's because she's telling personal stories. All those details come back again and again in her lyrics, because they all matter to her, because they were defining moments in her relationships and in her life in general.

I like how the moment I knew...’ is usually a phrase about “knowing” you’re in love with someone. So in the title you expect a love song. But she flips it to the moment she knew he didn’t love her and the relationship wouldn’t work. As you say... pretty weak to just call after with “sorry” for a birthday party which you know is a big deal to someone. So disrespectful...
NOTE this leads into “we are never ever getting back together” which has a great one-take music video.... (and hints like wearing the Jake gyllenhal scarf referenced in All too well LOL) I would recommend a double reaction to that song with the MV clip and her performance of it on tour 1989 as a good follow up to this.
For fave album even more difficult as my opinion changes all the time depending on mood, nostalgic feelings etc. I’ve just come out of Covid lockdown which folklore really suited and heading into Aussie Summer so Lover and 1989 are better matching my mood now. Some albums have my favourite songs but also some least faves whilst others gel as a total collection better so really hard to compare them for me

In my mind Folklore is her best, but Rep is iconic because pissed off, unapologetic Taylor is just awesome. 😂 I think age has something to do with people’s faves too. Taylor is much younger than me, and so her lyrics about her young years didn’t resonate with me like it did listeners who were same age as her. So I tend to lean towards her later albums when she is dealing with more adult stuff, also, her voice matured and just improved with age like a fine wine.

That humming sound sounds to me like a contrabas (don’t exactly know the English word, google translate says double bass but to me that doesn’t sound right).

I have been a Taylor fan since day one and hands down my 2 favorite albums are red and 1989. Nothing can top those for me. I still love her other stuff but those Taylor Swift eras are my favorite.

I feel like I could relate to each one of her albums in some sort of way because as she was going through some things, I was too. I couldn’t tell you which is my favorite because they all mean something different to me.

Cole Swindell’s song is a wonderful song and yes, I can totally hear what you hear. Wouldn’t be surprised if in the credits for that song he credits her for a ‘sample’, which is common - Taylor did it in Look What You Made Me Do with the song I’M Too Sexy... people of course accused her of ‘theft’ but the band that sang I’m Too Sexy came out and said Taylor called them and asked, gave them credit etc., but typical people wanted to assume she stole music.

I think most fans would actually say that "Red" is her best album, and in second comes "Speak Now". And now "Folklore" is probably somewhere up there. But there are also the "1989" or "Reputation" people.
With her best album, its so subjective and there's really not a bad choice. They're all so different that there's something for everyone's personal taste. My favorite is a 3 way tie between RED/Speak Now/Folklore lmao it changes depending on the day.
