    Nice reaction, this is BABYMETAL's anthem and usually the show closer. You are obviously enjoying this one more because you are past the initial shock, you know what to expect, so you can focus on what's actually going on instead of fighting it and trying to make it fit into whatever preconception you had. Same happened to basically all of us who come from a metal background.

  • @Codametal
    @Codametal Před 3 lety +78

    Yes, you, like many others, guessed it right that it sounds like Dragonforce. They wrote the piece. But at a faster pace because they knew they weren't going to be playing it on a regular basis. But the backing band (the Kami Band) nailed it and then some. The girls puts in this much energy in each song, hence the concerts are usually only about an hour or a little longer. At this performance in 2015, the lead singer (Su-metal) was about 17, the two other girls (Moametal and Yuimetal) were about 15. They've been performing together since 2011. The two girls were best friends even before they were in the group. I hope you continue your journey. We, as The One, love to see reactions to Babymetal. You'll like this song even more after you read the lyrics and some of the background info about the song. It's about overcoming adversity, and this particular performance of the song was special for the girls because for years they had to deal with harsh criticism about how they're a corporate band, it's not metal, and cute and metal don't mix. Su-metal said a few months ago that this song "embodies our spirit to never fail in the face of any adversity." Give Me Chocolate is always the first song to react to. They were young when that song came out and attributes to their age (They were 13 and 11 when the song first came out.) Next song to react to: Megitsune, Karate. If you like Su-metal's voice, No Rain No Rainbow. Enjoy.

      @@LGSkipper Here's a clip from their debut performance at a Sakura Gakuin graduation. Babymetal is a subunit of the idol group Sakura Gakuin. czcams.com/video/C-r4bajuu9Y/video.html The 'Heavy Metal Club' was specifically created with these three girls in mind. Su-metal for her strong singing voice and stage presence, and Yuimetal and Moametal for their smaller stature and twin like appearance. All three have a really strong bond like sisters. They care and respect each other tremendously. Although they are a manufactured group, you can't argue the amount of talent they have with that awesome backing band. They don't write any of their own music or lyrics, but in the end, it's a show that's worth going to if you can. The largest venue they played was at the Tokyo Dome sold out to 55,000 fans each for two nights. I believe in Japan, because of the smaller venue, all tickets are offered in lottery style, so even if you wanted to go, you can't unless you get picked. Hence they sell their live performance dvds at a premium price. Their studio album is more like a preview of what the show might be like. And here's the kicker you won't ever see in the USA, every show they do is different. So as I mentioned the Tokyo Dome performance for two nights, each night was a different performance. That's freaking awesome. You know if you go to more than one of their concerts, you'll get a different experience every time. How cool is that? Sorry, didn't mean for this message to be so long. Great reaction and more more more!

      @@LGSkipper I forgot to mention that the three are also incredibly humble. I've seen Yuimetal and Moametal cry in a few performances from the love and support they get from their fans. I've seen some reactioners who can't reconcile metal and cute together. Well, as you'll see in their later videos, not only are they still cute, they're badasses too. Oh, one more thing I didn't mention, every song of their's is different. You'll get a variety of thrash metal, power metal, speed metal, industrial metal, and so on. So there's something for everyone considering they've got three albums out.

    Nice & thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。 This was filmed in January 2015, but this song was premiered at the Brixton, London on Nov.8, 2014. The UK audiences quickly adjusted and started to chant to Su-Metal's direction notwithstanding that no one in the world had listened to this song before. Japanese fans appreciated the mates in UK but felt a little bit jealous of them because the premiere was not done in their homeland. The girls call UK "second home". (Last year, they performed 4 times in UK as opposed to only 2 in Japan.) In your video, Su shouted some words at 09:27 meaning "Bring them on!". Fans analyzed that the shout was thrown at people who had been ignoring, underrating, mocking, hating and even trying to discredit BABYMETAL.

    - Pausing isn’t really gonna help you from getting blocked, usually putting a watermark over the video does the trick, there is an entire CZcams channel dedicated to providing watermarked BABYMETAL videos (with un-watermarked versions in the description), so all those are safe to react to, the channel is “Babymetal Reactor Resource”.
    - There are plenty of “safe” videos to react to on outside of that channel as well, but using that channel will get you some good stuff that isn’t on CZcams. Generally anything from their 2014 Budokan shows and back are safe to react to, but every now and then one will get blocked, but not often. This video is from 2015, hence why people warned you.
    - As others have said, the lads from Dragonforce wrote the guitar part for this song. That’s why it sounds familiar! Lol
    - If you like these super high energy, well produced live shows, then BABYMETAL is the band for you!
    - Su-Metal, the lead vocalist (who was 17 years old in this video), is essentially a child prodigy when it comes to singing. She’s been performing in some way since she was as young as six years old and she said all she ever wanted to do was be a singer, and luckily for her she is very, very good at it.
    - Su-Metal sounds much better live, I don’t really care to listen to their studio recordings because BABYMETAL is meant to be experienced live. It just sounds much better than the studio versions.
    - The musicians are called “Kami Band”, and if you wanna hear them rip off some nasty solos, check out “Rondo of Nightmare”, the first video that pops up should be about 7 minutes, that is the one with the Kami Band intro, check out that one.
    - Yes, this song closed the show. Anytime you hear the “WE ARE” call and response with the audience, that is the end of the show (unless they do encore songs, sometimes they’ll do the “WE ARE” thing before the encore).

    Babymetal definitely put on a show and give you "value for money", I could see you realizing that in the second half of the performance. That's were the "OMG" factor ramps up and I think a lot of folks get the chills. This performance is the one that turned me into a fan or a "kitsune" which is Japanese for fox. The song has a strong Dragonforce vibe because Li and Totman worked on it and play it on the album, but I like this live Kami Band version more. The concert has a great stage set up and the famous Yui leap over Moa during IDZ as well as this definitive performance.
    "Road of Resistance" is about fighting and resisting even if you can't see the way ahead; that's a common theme for Babymetal songs.
    At the end of the crowd "wows" I love the combination of the insanely fast guitar riff and the dance sequence that ends with the girls standing strongly and outlined by the lights, that's where I really get the chills, but you skipped over that bit, probably for copyright issues. It shows how well music, singing, dancing and stage and lighting design can come together.
    From just these two songs I think you can see that Babymetal have a lot of range. One fun thing is to compare their first ever recording, "Doki Doki Morning", which is almost a metal nursery rhyme with their most technical and progressive song "Tales of The Destinies". Strap in tightly to avoid whiplash.

    For reasons that I'm sure you've already found out in other comments, I'd be quite worried if it _didn't_ sound like Dragonforce. :D
    You're certainly not alone there. For a lot of people who still had their doubts, this song (as well as this performance of it) has been the clincher. Even though we are THE ONE, and some favorites are practically universal, we're still not monolithic when it comes to that, and lists can vary wildly from fan to fan.

  • @MacTaipan

    I love how even listeners that haven‘t quite warmed up to them yet are often very quick to mention how much they‘d like to be at their show. They must be doing something right. :-) No matter what one might think of BABYMETAL or this song, as a performance there‘s really not much to criticize about this.
    I always feel a little ambivalent about „luring“ metalheads with this song. Don’t get me wrong, it’s great and one of BABYMETAL‘s many facets, but in my opinion songs like Headbanger are more „typical“ than this (although that in itself is also a difficult word to use for them, as their catalogue is so diverse). The poppy, cute, lightweight and playful elements are what makes them so unique, and they wouldn‘t be BABYMETAL without them. And songs like RoR have much less of those elements than most of their songs. So I hope you learn to like those as well.
    I would like to know how you feel about the choreographed dancing. It‘s often one of the things that metalheads have a problem with. I also did, before I encountered BABYMETAL, I admit. But now I can‘t deny that it has an immense effect on the live energy and entertainment value. It still doesn‘t really work for me with boy bands and even most girl bands, but for some reason I love it with BABYMETAL (part of it is certainly that the choreographies seem much less superficial than what I know from other bands).

    • @Codametal
      @Codametal Před 3 lety

      I've heard that the amount of training they had to have had to be able to dance and still sing without sounding out of breath is pretty difficult. Albeit the fact they've been doing it since 2010 in Sakura Gakuin. There aren't many artist who can do this. Beyonce I heard was one of them. Incredible breathing control and stamina.

    • @egorbubnov9989
      @egorbubnov9989 Před 3 lety +2

      It's a good point for me to add what is important to me. Their choreography is great, but more importantly how professionally they do it.
      Besides being a metal head, I'm also a fan of old hardcore techno. That is why movement to extremely fast and energetic music is close to me. But good performance is rare, and I only know of one (!) artist who did it really well and that is Staxx. Unfortunately, there are practically no videos on CZcams, because they were amateur videos from the era of electro dance in the early 2000s.
      Why am I telling this? From the very first shot, the Babymetal dance struck me, because I have not seen anything like this in energy since then. Hardness, amplitude and clarity of the execution of movements ... and all this is not under techno, but under metal! Crazy.
      Their capabilities are best shown in their early video "line!". The pace at which they dance is higher than usual. By the way, Moa said in an interview that it is usually easier for them to dance faster than slower.
      In other words, this is another confirmation of how much they were able to combine and present in the best possible quality.
      It's a shame when many metalheads are biased towards their choreography. "Oh yeah, it's the same as in K-pop groups, boys and girls." And they are perceived as an ordinary pop. In fact, the Babymetal dance differs from the usual pop dance in exactly the same way as metal music differs from pop music.

    • @egorbubnov9989
      @egorbubnov9989 Před 3 lety +1

      And we must separately remember how traumatic it is. I think their choreography has become softer in recent years precisely because of the large number of microtraumas and not only micro. Fans of Babimetal know when Yui fell from more than two meters of the stage, or Moa performed with tears and a smile at the same time, being injured.

    • @Codametal
      @Codametal Před 3 lety

      @@egorbubnov9989 I did notice that. Their moves isn't as crisp as as fast. But just the look on their faces and learning about all the antics that happens on stage between them is still fun to watch. Sumetal said that they try to make each performance a little different to keep themselves from being bored. After all, they've been doing the exact same choreography for years. And yet, I still don't get tired of watching them. Although now I watch to see what differences they're doing. I noticed that when they know the show isn't being recorded, they're more goofy on stage. That's just damn cute.

    • @egorbubnov9989
      @egorbubnov9989 Před 3 lety +1

      @@Codametal This is damn true. Leave it fresh while doing the same for many years. I just discovered Babymetal only two months ago, even less, and just did not have time to watch all the rare and new performances. Reactions take longer))
      But it's very strange to start missing Yui after a couple of hours after learning about the group. And then to understand that more than two years have already passed for them.
      Or be angry that Oliver swears in the Kingslayer song. And then remember that they have already become adults, and not these teenagers from the first videos. ))

    I'll just give you a warning The ONES (Army of Babymetal) hate comparisons since the Kawai Metal style was invented by their producer Kobametal and we hate each other when they compare them with these bands , because it seems that all their work was done just to be imitated by these fake bands.
    12 and 10 years working hard, with 2 hits in 2018 (leaving Yuimetal and Mikio Fujioka's death), it is horrible to compare them with these other bands, there is nothing, do not ever compare them.

      Yes, their first few concerts in the latter 2011 and 2012 were mostly lipsynced and backing tracks for the instruments. Any live video performance you see of theirs with the skeleton suited band is fake. It wasn't until the encore performance in their 3 concert that it was live band and live vocals as a test bed. Every concert since then is live band and mostly live vocals. Sumetal always has a backing track with her own harmonies playing. And sometimes Yuimetal and Moametal are singing with their own backing tracks.

      That is your perfectly valid opinion and you have expressed it. Big Whoop. . .Those are all EXCELLENT bands:) I like them too. However, I have to call bullshit on you regarding the idea that those others are not commercialized acts. Lovebites and Band-Maid are big time INTERNATIONAL commercial hits with heavy marketing and merchandising . . .. And if you don't think the fine musicians in those bands want recognition and money for their hard work you are perhaps, delusional. It may not be their primary motivation, but I find it hard to believe any of those bands would not dream of ending a tour by selling out Tokyo Dome two nights running. Personally, I view Babymetal not as a "band" so much as a musical theater project. More like a touring company of a rock opera . .music, characters, dancing, very high production value and cost . . . .etc . . . . Therefore, a direct comparison to "bands" falls duff. . . .That said it does seem oddly curious that for one who dislikes Babymetal, you do seem to spend a fair share of time trolling their reaction videos. . . humn?? . .lol. . . . . . . Anyway, fortunately there is plenty of volume in my headphones for ALL OF IT! This Japanese music seen is AMAZING!
