At an unhealthy workplace right this very moment. And this pops up! đđŒ
HR is not for me the employee, it's to protect the company
That was certainly my experience, they're there to protect the company, not the employees.
As soon as someone goes to HR, it's over for them.
The only organization, if you're lucky, that protects the employee is the EEOC, the National Labor Relations Board and possibly the state labor board.
If you are in a terrible, unhealthy environment, don't bother trying to change it, just get outta there!
Before they come for you!
Nothing Mel mentioned worked in that culture. So I took off. Fxck that! life is short.
I've had 34 jobs, don't judge I can hold a job, but I leave because I'm bored, it's toxic or just find something better. Every single one has been unhealthy, maybe half toxic. I feel like it's just the nature of people. There's always that one ring leader that rallies the troops against a target đŻ
This! I really have to remind myself to not hop at every single opportunity đ

I'm the same. I've had a bunch. I also get bored and I refuse to stay in a toxic work environment. My health is worth more than that crap.

This video could not have come at a better time. I am dealing with this now. Thank you!!!!!!!đ„°
Me too
Sadly, from real experience, people in a toxic environment do in fact NOT reciprocate positiivity! The toxic employees start to latch onto you like a leech, draining you of your energy because you're the only person who's capable of sharing kindness.
Even worse, in a competitive work environment, it's interpreted as weakness. You'll have a target placed on your back, because somehow being a decent human being is going to trigger someone's insecurities.
All it did was drive me quicker towards burnout, and now my mental health is lower than it ever has been. Please exercise this advice with caution!
I'm in the middle of it. I always shower people with people and unfortunately it DOES NOT work on work psychopaths who enjoy throwing people under the bus and watching them suffer and be fired. Some.people are truly sick and the only solution is just to leave this place
Thank you for calling them managers and not bosses. â€
Omg.. Iâm a 52 year old straight white male and I absolutely love to gossip! I started an unofficial gossip club at work. Sooo fun! Apparently Barbara is sleeping with Rob in HR, heâs in HR! Oh my God!!! And Creepy Andrew went in for a hug with hot sandy in receiving and she told him please donât hug me! Oh my god!!!! This is so fun!!
Get the state labor department involved. When talking and positivity doesnât work, use email and the labor department, do not speak with HR, look for another job. The gross display of inappropriate behavior and communication is unacceptable. These tactics are deliberately to paralyze the employee. Move on knowing your worth. Be well.
Thank you for helping me recognize the emotionally immature co-worker throwing a tantrum.
Thank You!!!!!
Perfect timing.
I love your energy. I love what you said.
You are amazing from 17:28
I really needed this video. Thanks you!
one act of kindness is all we need
soooo inspiring to hear you, my friend Mel. It's fun to call u my friend, Ijust feel to do itđđ
Im standoffish. Im just really quiet. I dont know if it appears as mean or stuck up. I'm not a talkative person.

Hi Mel- how would you suggest dealing with difficult clients as a small business owner? I do landscaping and it seems like people feel like they can treat you like trash if you are a manual laborer.
â€â€â€
Unfortunately those tips canât be app to a multinational company operating in a third world countryđą HR wonât even take my side they will directly say what I told them to the bullies and they would make my life more miserable than itâs already is. HR are wondering why the turnover is so high lol
I am literally waiting for the next company that would call me for an interview đą
Itâs really sad being treated like a slave and living in constant fear of making a mistake or not doing a task on time, or even be fired if they want to. Doing 3 people work and still be expected to do everything on time. Complaining doesnât work either they always end us saying that Me or my team are not managing work the way it should be.. Mondays are the worst and the stress and workload doesnât stop there it keeps getting worse throughout the week with weekly reviews and reports on Fridays..
I am counting the days and hours till I am done with this company but most of all its people aka the leaders
Very sad for someone who really works hard, has a masters degree and experience đą
Have you worked in the Caribbean? You haven't seen anything yet.đ
@@firstninja2198 Guys, I quit my job around 2 months ago, best decision ever in 2024!
Mel, this is a good discussion. However, HR is only concerned with the company's legal position. Any help to employee's happiness and well-being is either incidental or used as a way to help the company. I found this out the hard way.
you remind me of Lucifer's psychologist from the series XD I can't stop thinking of it
This advice sounds rosey!!! but let's be honest it is not realistic and its application is being too generalized. Sounds hopeful, like a " kumbayah", but it is not always practical. Some places are too toxic.
This conversation on depressing toxic work cultures brings to mind Ben Hinsonâs poem âDance of Desolation:â
czcams.com/video/imVJUQk9RO4/video.htmlsi=NPvEwNa3tJle28K9
The last line in the poem hit home for me: âin the game of shadows, victory eludes all but those who refuse to dance.â đŻđ€
Donât dance guys, leave!!! Donât stay in toxic workplaces!
