Nice commentary and good of you to credit the English scholars who annotated it. This should be a lesson for us Pakistanis and Indians.

I've been there many times while studying at government college. I also saw a Hindu temple nearby occupied by residents. In my opinion it's the best place of Anarkali. There is a chapel, Hindu temple and a mosque standing side by side.

Interesting version of the history of the Mongol attack /siege of Lahore in winter 1241, I think ? I have only read a few secondary accounts and some years ago and I'm not sure if the date is correct. However, from what I remember from my reading, the Mongols besieged and eventually breached Lahore's flimsy defenses and they butchered and looted the population. The Mongols had to go back in December of that year (1240? 1241?) as their king/ruler Ogedei Khan died. So they didn't occupy Lahore city for long. However, they kept on making attacks on Punjab and Lahore, and even as far as Delhi , until the 1320s, when they were decisively beaten by the Khilji sultans of Delhi.

Mr Salman dont distort history.. Lahore never resisted any invader. Mongols were done in by the most important battle of Muslim History. at Ain Jalut, by Mamluks from Egypt in 1248. Lahoris even made their women put on Dohti when Bhangi Misal of Sikh ruled from 1760 to1805

Without being judgemental I have noticed that he never say Assalamulikum or Allah Hafiz .He also looked down upon Muslim connotations and always insist on subcontinental identity and dismiss Arab& Central Asian connections against Pakistani state narratives. He hardly acknowledged the contributions of his contemporary travel writers.
