There are some remakes of that movie, one from the 60's.

A fun movie. Typical 1930's exotic adventure drama. I'm sure this influenced the Raiders of the Lost Arc creators, as did The Secret of the Inca's.

This "movie" is a travesty of the novel. In other words, crap.
I think you take the integrity from a move when you colourise it, sorry i just watch this film in its natural form.

It depends on what type of film it is:
The Noir mystery thrillers made great use of shadow/light in the B&W medium to set the mood visually. And “creepy haunted house” stories or mysteries that take place primarily after dark, obviously are better in their old B&W setting…
But realistically, if having been given a choice back then between B&W or Technicolor… the comedies, the grand-scale musicals, and the great sweeping out-of-doors adventures would unquestionably have opted for filming in color.
