I work at a children's hospital and see some humbling stuff. I'm going through some medical issues that have humbled me as well. You have no idea how much your work and the videos you share with us has helped. Keep doing your thing, brother. It is appreciated.
Chuck ... I remember those 80s bootleg Hong Kong flicks hitting the conventions around that time ... a friend of mine was into them ... he'd buy them, I'd borrow them ... I enjoyed everyone ... Saturday afternoon tv used to feature many a dubbed version
I didn’t know it at the time, but the Batman Adventures had a gang of reoccurring villains based on Archie Goodwin, Mike Carlin, and Denny O’Neil. Though in this case, it came off as more of a playful jab than meaning any kind of malice. I agree that mean-spirited character stand ins are just childish and can take you out of the story if you’re just reading about a writer’s axe to grind with someone
It was Axe cop and it was Ethan Nicolle with his younger brother, he was also creative director for the Babylon Bee for awhile. He's currently at the daily wire. Really funny guy.
I caught every Jackie Chan movie that came out in the theater starting in the early 90s through the early 00s. Twin Dragons was my first, though I do think I had seen The Protector earlier on TV once. I got into Chow Yun Fat around the same time. A lot of those Asian flicks seemed to flood in after Jackie hit it big. Plus I had an amazing video rental store at college that had a good selection of foreign films. I've been watching Kurosawa and Mifune movies since I was much younger, having become a fan of Mifune in Shogun when I was a tot and then watching anything I found with him in it throughout the 80s on. I'm much later to the game on Belmondo, having not seen anything aside from Breathless, which was good for what it was, but it didn't get me interested in following his work. I mainly went back to look at him when you were singing his praises a decade or so back.
Kurosawa was amazing (during his black and white era). 🤔🤔🤔🤔 Is Asian cimema the secret origin of Chuck Dixon? Miyazaki also is great. Spirited Away is cool but very Japanese. It's good to expose children to high quality.
Seems like people trying to break into comics underestimate writing. Someone coming from a place of wanting to learn art or writing says they’ll pick writing because it’s easier. I’d argue both require a comparable amount of practice before you’re ready to start working as a professional. I think Todd McFarlane is the best example of an amateur artist pushing himself to learn a skill in a relatively short time period.
Thank you for the insights & stories! Been meaning to explore more films from around the world, and you've given a plethora of suggestions. Also nice to see you doing both the camera and the slides.
I just read the stan lee biography true believer. It mentions denny o'neal working for marvel and being fired for no discerable reason. Did denny ever spill the beans on this one to you?
He had long runs on Daredevil and Iron Man at that time, and I remember both series going into a “limbo” for months after Denny left the titles. Seemed like every issue was a fill-in for a while (although they got Frank Miller to come back to Daredevil to do Born Again at that time)
Jim Shooter fired O'neil, and Mike Carlin, for not doing their jobs. They were more interested in writing than actually overseeing the books they were assigned to edit.
I don't like Amazon either and refuse to purchase anything from them. Problem with Barnes and Noble is their website is down too much. It's frustrating. I wish there was more competition.

Thanks for the kind words. I practically grew up in a children's hospital so bless you for what you do.
@@Dixonverse Thank you!
That is a very touching story. I think it's Mr. Dixon's positivity that brightens the day. He is just as humble. Ask him.
Like the spinrack of your own comics :) Very cool
And what Jim Shooter did to John Byrne is tell him "no"
Shrinkage is such a great book. Always one of my favorites.
The hybrid webcam/slides format is still rocking!👍
Awesome.😎
2/3rds of the way through Knightfall storyline, AzBats totally redesigns his armor. Now I know why! And knowing is half the battle.

Thanks for another great video Chuck 😁
Always happy to see another ACD!
May you come home to the Church one day my brother.

Axe Cop is the title you're thinking of.
Kindle, psshh. I bought paperbacks 👍
Apparently joe q leaked art to wizard magazine which got him in trouble with the bat office. Wizard 24 cover specifically.

Shrinkage was a fun read. I think I need to re-read it.

You should!

I think Denny asked about royalties once too often.

Just 3 days to the premiere!🥳
I always dug AzBat and would pay to read new quality stories from that Erra.
Is Hammer considered foreign? I am in the process of watching all the Hammer production movies .... 80 down....83 to go!!

Tales from Earthsea is another excellent studio ghibli anime as well probably close to my favorite.
Chuck ...have you seen RRR? If so, thoughts?
Don’t try to write novels right out of the gate. Write short stories and get that form down, then grow from there.
